Combat in Wuthering Waves is a Game System where the player uses Resonators and Echoes to battle with enemies they encounter in-game.
Each resonator has a set of active and passive abilities: Basic Attack, Resonance Skill, Resonance Liberation, Forte Circuit, and Intro and Outro Skills. These are all unique to each Resonator and can have different uses and effects, such as crowd control or DMG Bonuses. The Resonators' abilities also have multiple variations to them. For example, the Basic Attack can become a Heavy Attack, a Mid-air Attack or a Dodge Counter depending on when, where or how the Basic Attack button is pressed.[1][2]
In addition to their own abilities, each resonator can summon an Echo to to help them in battle or transform in to one (depending on the used Echo) to attack enemies or buff allies.[3]

- Forte - Skills and Abilities belonging to Resonators.
- Resonance Chain - Upgrades for Resonators made up of 6 Sequence Nodes.
- Rabelle's Curve - A classification that is mentioned in a Resonator's Forte Examination Report.
- Energy - A resource required for Resonators to perform certain actions in combat.

- Attributes - The different damage and resistance types in-game, including:

- Physical
- Stackable Effect - a stackable effect that applies when a target is hit with a certain Attribute attack, debuffing the target.
Mechanics[]
- Counterattack - A mechanic that can be triggered during certain combat opportunities that will block enemy attacks and provide buffs.
- Dodge - A mechanic used to avoid attacks and can provide a immunity period to a Resonator when performed at the perfect timing.
- Immobilize - A state enemies will enter once their Vibration Strength is fully depleted.
Concerto System[]
Intro Skill / Outro Skill - A Forte triggered when switching to or from a Resonator with full Concerto Energy.
