It is "Paradise."
"It is a place where sickness, hunger, sorrow, despair, and dullness of heart cease to exist. There, deacons sing eternal hymns..."Cartethyia, The Maiden, The Defier, The Death Crier
The Dark Tide is a form of Waveworn Phenomenon native to Rinascita. During the events of Chapter II: Act II - Veils Off in Sun or Shadow, in the depictions found in an abandoned Order of the Deep Tower, the first Dark Tide was brought about by historical wars between the early settlers of Rinascita, who were divided by their opposing faiths in the Threnodian Leviathan and the Sentinel Imperator.

Synopsis[]
The Dark Tide is a Waveworn Phenomenon used by the Threnodian Leviathan as part of its destructive nature due to the Lament. In Chapter II: Act IV - The Maiden, The Defier, The Death Crier, it is described by Cartethyia as a form of "Paradise," characterized by the cessation of suffering, hunger, sorrow, and emotional desolation. However, this idealized depiction masks its true nature: a mechanism of mass assimilation and indoctrination associated with the Leviathan. The Dark Tide initially spreads through direct contact, converting organic life into vessels that emit continuous hymns. These transformed entities—often described as the dead who "grow mouths and sing hymns, day and night"—function as agents of psychological contagion, spreading madness and perceptual corruption. The process culminates in the aggregation of corrupted souls, which are drawn toward a central convergence known as the "Journeying Paradise." Once this threshold is reached, the affected region becomes mobile, guided by "darkened skies" and tasked with extending the reach of the Leviathan’s creed to new territories.
Within the Sonoro Sphere of Avinoleum, the residual destructive properties of the Dark Tide are significantly restrained. The region’s inverted gravity prevents the phenomenon from descending into Rinascita, thereby also halting the fall of Tacet Discords and the ruins of the Order of the Deep seminary. This gravitational inversion not only impedes further collapse but alters the Tide’s essence, rendering its waters unnaturally calm—navigable by gondola throughout the Sonoro Sphere. Despite this stabilization, remnants of the Dark Tide still manifest sporadically, often taking the form of rampant purple-hued vines and flowers that propagate across the Avinoleum landscape.
