Energy is the resource required by Characters to perform specific actions in Combat. Wuthering Waves uses three types of Energy, namely Resonance Liberation energy, Concerto energy and Special energy. Each of them can be gained in specific ways. Note that the Resonance Liberation Energy is the only type of energy affected by the Energy Regen stat from Weapons and Echoes.
Resonance Liberation Energy[]
Resonance Liberation Energy (also referred in-game as Energy) is used by Characters to cast their Resonance Liberation. It is granted by using abilities or Basic Attacks, or from some other sources such as Teammate Outro Skill, Weapon passive or Echo Skill. The amount of energy required for each Resonance Liberation varies for different characters and can be checked in-game via the Skill Detail section of the Character's Forte Menu. After a character activates their Resonance Liberation, they deplete all their Resonance Liberation Energy. A character's energy cannot exceed the amount needed for their Resonance Liberation, nor can it fall below zero. If a character is knocked out, they will lose all their energy.
Resonance Liberation Energy acquisition rate is different for every type of action the Resonators performs. Most multi-hit abilities or Basic attacks grant energy for every hit that connects, but there are few abilities where energy is granted only on the very first hit of an ability (such as Aalto’s Resonance Skill). Unless specified otherwise, this Energy will only be granted once per hit, even if there are multiple enemies. Every character generates a different amount of Energy in a fixed time interval. However, the energy granted when performing an attack after a perfect dodge is very consistent, with a range of 2.5 - 3.2 energy and an average of 3 Energy for most characters.
Energy Regen[]
As stated previously, the Energy Regen stat affects only Resonance Liberation Energy accumulated by the Resonators during combat. It affects both the energy accumulated while on-field and off-field. Whilst off-field, the energy granted is 50% of the energy generated on-field and does not depend on the Attribute or Energy Regen stat of the character who generates this energy.
Concerto Energy[]
Concerto Energy (abbreviated in-game as Con. Energy) is used by characters to cast the Outro/Intro interaction between the character leaving the field and the next character taking the field. This is unleashed upon switching characters in Combat when the current character's Concerto Energy is full. Concerto Energy is accumulated in the same way as Resonance Liberation Energy but with different rates which can be checked in-game via the Skill Detail section of the Character's Forte Menu. It is to be noted that not all sources and accumulation rates are displayed in the Forte Menu.
Concerto Energy is not affected by Energy Regen stat and is only granted to on-field characters.
Special energy[]
Special Energy is the Energy that fills the "Music bar" shown above the active character's health bar. This Energy is tied to the Characters' Forte Circuit ability and forms the basis of a character's kit. Each character interacts with Special Energy differently, with different maximum value, accumulation rate, acquisition methods and usage. The Forte Circuit section of the Character's Forte Menu lists all the aforementioned particulars about this energy. Sometimes it is not shown for hit related values. Using Forte Circuit abilities may regenerate both Resonance Liberation Energy and Concerto Energy or only the latter.
