Forking Path Among the Stars is a Companion Story of Camellya that takes place in The Black Shores, Black Shores Archipelago.
Summary[]
You encounter Camellya at the Black Shores' Greenhouse. As usual, she appears nonchalant but pleased nevertheless to chat. Your conversation is interrupted by Beatrice, who needs you to handle a problem at the Error Cell.
A corrupted Stellar Matrix has escaped and could endanger the Black Shores. To retrieve it, you seek the Consultant who previously accessed the Matrix's data.
The Consultant reveals the data was intentionally erased, but it involves the leader of the Black Shores—your past self—and a Bloom Bearer named Lady Flora. You learn that you once saved Lady Flora from Petalfall Village and shared a deep bond, but she vanished twenty years ago.
At the Hall of Foreign Affairs, you discover that Camellya has already taken Lady Flora's belongings. Now, you must find Camellya.
After catching up with Camellya, she reveals that she is Lady Flora, but like you, she has lost her memories. She appears indifferent to everything except you and proposes a game in exchange for hanging over Flora's items.
Camellya enjoyed the game and gives you the bracelet as promised. Recognizing that her help is vital to resolving the current crisis, you ask her to stay. Camellya finds your assertiveness intriguing and agrees to help. In a discussion about self and her lost memories, Camellya claims her instincts define who she is. To gather more of Lady Flora's items, you decide to split up.
You continue searching and find a forsaken Blake Bloom in a cave.
Camellya shows signs of Overclocking from battle, yet she appears unconcerned. She is accustomed to enduring pain and explains that savoring each present moment is her way of coping.
From the Blake Bloom's frequency, you discover that Lady Flora disappeared around the same time as the Black Shores leader. With enough items gathered, you head to the Modulation Hall.
After Beatrice completes the modulation, you and Camellya dive into the stars to locate the escaped Stellar Matrix.
During the dive, something goes wrong. You lose contact with Camellya and the Modulation Hall.
On the other side of the Stargate, you find yourself in a strange cave. There, an illusion of Lady Flora, resembling Camellya, appears before you.
You learn that Lady Flora sealed her memories because of a choice your past self made. Bewildered, you return to the Modulation Hall with Beatrice's help.
Beatrice informs you that Camellya is still trapped in the Stellar Matrix. To rescue her, you must enter the Matrix once again. Beatrice warns you that multiple jumps might be needed to reach the correct timeline juncture.
Upon crossing the Stargate, you find yourself in a simulated Black Shores from many years ago. There, you encounter a nervous robot, KU-Riri, who tells you that Lady Flora is Overclocking and has fled her medical pod to hide in a nearby room. This suggests you are not in the correct juncture, but rather a distorted version of history.
You find Lady Flora covered in vines, struggling against her Overclocking. As her condition eases, she gazes at you with a faint smile and offers you a flower.
Crossing the Stargate again, you meet another version of Lady Flora at the Black Shores. Unlike the previous Lady Flora, she appears healthy and slightly bashful, yet her admiration for you remains unchanged. She mentions that meeting you feels familiar.
Thanks to your timely arrival, Petalfall Village has survived the disaster in this juncture, even though that is not how it truly happened. Like she did before, Lady Flora smiles and offers you a flower.
After passing through the Stargate for the third time, you finally reach the correct timeline juncture.
The Lady Flora you meet resembles Camellya in the real world and, like the others, she does not hide her feelings for you.
After losing contact with you, Camellya crosses the Stargate and finds herself in the cave from the past. Like you, she has jumped through many simulated worlds and witnessed different possibilities, but her path always crosses with yours.
Intrigued by the Lady Flora illusion in front of her, Camellya decides to follow.
Lady Flora explains that the past duties imposed on the one she yearns for led to their decision to leave the Black Shores. Camellya listens to her past self, surprised by her depth of emotion. Through Lady Flora's words, Camellya realizes that you are the leader of the Black Shores.
Lady Flora's condition has gradually worsened ever since she lost her Anchor. As memories from before her arrival at Petalfall Village resurface, her Overlocking symptoms intensify. Camellya struggles to understand what it means to care about others.
Lady Flora refuses treatment, fearing it will leave her with nothing. Without her power, she would feel forever inferior to the one she cherishes, a fate she cannot accept. The heavy atmosphere triggers Camellya's own Overclocking symptoms to flare up.
To put an end to her severe Overclocking, Lady Flora decides to abandon her memories, including all those of you. She believes that her connection to you is intrinsic to her nature and will ultimately guide her back to you. When that day arrives, she hopes to stand as their equal.
Watching her past self, Camellya acknowledges and accepts this choice.
You find yourself reunited with Camellya. Considering the years apart, this reunion has been ten years in the making. In every world, you and she have met, parted, and reunited again. If this is your fate, Camellya embraces it willingly.
With the Stellar Matrix defeated, the two of you return home.
With the Stellar Matrices back in order, Camellya invites you to Veiled Rock.
Camellya asks you to take a photo of this moment as a way to capture her current feelings.
Once trapped in a labyrinth of memories and possibilities, Camellya has lost much. But now, she tells you she no longer wishes to recover her lost memories, believing the seal left by Lady Flora will naturally break when the time is right.
What matters to her now is enjoying this reunion with you.
Just as she did in previous timeline junctures, Camellya smiles and extends her hand, offering you a flower.
