Dialogue[]
- (Talk to the Midnight Ranger on guard)
- Midnight Ranger on Guard: General, we're all clear in the west!
- Jiyan: Good. Have you had more hallucinations after the antidote?
- Midnight Ranger on Guard: No sign of those Retroact Rain Phantoms they warned us about, but...
- Midnight Ranger on Guard: I just heard some weird noises from the north.
- Jiyan: Stay here and hold your post. I'll go check it out.
- Midnight Ranger on Guard: Understood!
- (Talk to the Steadfast Midnight Ranger)
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: General.
- Jiyan: Greetings. How are you feeling after the antidote?
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: I feel much better, but the Phantoms are still coming back from time to time.
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: Three years... It's been three years already.
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: I was on the vanguard team during that battle.
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: Memories of my teammates lost their minds fighting those Phantoms haunts me to this day...
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: Those Phantoms... Illusions of both soldiers and those monsters... They were not real, but somehow they could injure and kill us.
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: We had to strike them down to survive.
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: But then... Our dead comrades, were coming back to life, ready to stab us behind our backs... It was chaos. We were terrified, couldn't tell friend from foe...
- Jiyan: The Retroact Rain contains Remnant energy that can recreate past events and project them as Phantoms.
- Jiyan: Those Phantoms can transform into familiar people or objects by resonating with living people in the rain, through their frequencies.
- Jiyan: During that battle, the rain's effect was further enhanced by the Threnodian's power.
- Jiyan: That was why the Phantoms gained physical forms, and why the rain could recreate very recent events, like bringing back soldiers dead minutes ago.
- Jiyan: Unaware of the mechanism behind it, we tried to eliminate all the Phantoms, and it only worsened the situation.
- Jiyan: Now we know the Phantoms are merely replicas of past events.
- Jiyan: While not a perfect solution, the antidote for Retroact Rain can lessen its effects and help us differentiate between reality and hallucinations.
- Jiyan: Keep your chin high. Our fallen comrades wouldn't want to see us down trodden like this.
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: Yes, sir. I will pull myself together!
- Steadfast Midnight Ranger: General... You were there during the Battle Beneath the Crescent, too. Please be careful of the Phantoms in our camp.
- (Watch the two "people" on the right near the computer)
- Paranoid Midnight Ranger: Can we really trust that medic?
- Thoughtful Midnight Ranger: I do think we should be careful... Something's wrong with this rain.
- Paranoid Midnight Ranger: Hey! You see? The raindrops... they're falling up! It's the Retroact Rain!
- Jiyan: That day... As the rain fell, we watched in uncertainty, unsure whether it was a sign of hope or disaster.
- Jiyan: The Retroact Rain should have been a harmless Waveworn Phenomenon.
- Jiyan: However... The Threnodian's influence enhanced its effect, turning that battle into a brutal slaughter.
- Jiyan: Our city cannot endure another tragedy like that...
- (Watch the two "people" on the left near the canopy)
- Veteran Midnight Ranger: Let's join the Riverside Games after we beat that monster.
- Young Midnight Ranger: The Riverside Games...?
- Veteran Midnight Ranger: You won first place in the last armed race, remember? Don't back out now... I already counted you in!
- Jiyan: We haven't held the Riverside Games in years. This should be another illusion from the past.
- Jiyan: If everything goes well, perhaps we can hold it again this year...
- (Watch the two "people" on the left near the computer)
- Excited Midnight Ranger: This guy packs a serious punch. It's already so powerful in my hands when I'm just an ordinary person. Now, if I was a Resonator...
- Vigilant Midnight Ranger: Careful. Tacetite weapons are not so safe to operate.
- Excited Midnight Ranger: Rest assured. I'll take out those monsters before it blows up in my face!
- Jiyan: The Ministry of Development once designed a weapon for non-Resonator units to combat Tacet Discords.
- Jiyan: As non-Resonators lacked the necessary Forte to control the weapon, and prolonged exposure to Tacetite energy posed health risks, designers limited its output for safety reasons.
- Jiyan: That's why the weapons couldn't operate at full power.
- Jiyan: After taking over as General, I revamped the Midnight Ranger's recruitment tactics. Our primary combat units now consist of Resonators, with a significant decreased in non-Resonator members who have been reassigned to support roles.
- Jiyan: I still remember the admirable courage in those ordinary people's eyes, as they volunteered to join the military... but I cannot let more unnecessary causalities happen.
- (Watch the three "people" near the hologram diagram)
- Solemn Midnight Rover: The plan is simple. We will use the cliffs as a boundary to divide the battlefield into two.
- Solemn Midnight Rover: Our ranged units will secure the high ground while our ground forces charge through the narrow valley.
- Solemn Midnight Rover: Meanwhile, we will deploy Resonators to the Suspended Ruins, where most of the Tacet Discords are located.
- Solemn Midnight Rover: Squads two and three will flank while General Geshu leads Squad one to break their front line.
- Solemn Midnight Rover: Our goal is to shift from defense to offense and disrupt their strategies. Everything is at stake here.
- Solemn Midnight Rover: In a word, it's victory or death.
- Jiyan: Our strategic plan was crafted 3 years ago, taking into account the terrain in Norfall Barrens. Its value remains crucial today.
- Jiyan: But now, our enemies are even stronger than before.
- Jiyan: There could be unknown risk factors... We must devise a new plan for the current situation.
- (Watch the saber on the table on the far left)
- Giant Saber with Strange Shape: A massive greatsword with a heavy weight. Its texture reveals its power, clearly not meant for the average person.
- Giant Saber with Strange Shape: Black chains wrap around the blade and hilt, with swirling patterns resembling rippling waves. Dark flames seems to pulse with life, ready to erupt at any moment.
- Giant Saber with Strange Shape: Droplets of water can be seen on it. Are these the tears of this mighty weapon?
- Jiyan: Why am I seeing this here... Is it another illusion caused by the Retroact Rain?
- Soldier: General!
- Soldier: We've got all equipment repaired, Tacetite weapons adjusted and given to Resonators. Non-Resonators are also equipped and prepared for action.
- Soldier: But... the rain's getting heavier. Should we take shelter for the time being?
- Soldier: One of our combat medics claims it's no ordinary downpour, and he strongly advises holding off any moves until it clears.
- Soldier: Though young, his sharp intuition has been proven in previous battles. You've seen it firsthand.
- Soldier: However... I do agree this will be our last chance at organizing another attack.
- ...The medic you mentioned. What is his name?
- Soldier: Sir, his name is...
- Soldier: Ji...yan...
- Soldier: General, help... Please... help me...
- ???: What do you make of this, Jiyan?
- ???: Maybe you are right.
- ???: The rain just happened out of nowhere. It's indeed unusual. But...
- ???: This is our only chance.
- ???: The enemy we've been yearning to destroy is finally right before us.
- ???: And now you're asking me to sit back and do nothing because of some Phantoms?
- (Stay silent.)
- ???: Silence... is this your response? Or is it fear holding your tongue?
- ???: Ah... I see. You're no different. We fear, we bleed, we suffer, and in the end, we'll all die on the battlefield.
- ???: But what about your brethren, friends, and comrades? As you witness them viciously slain before your eyes, one by one...
- ???: Will you still remain silent when their souls demand an answer?
- ???: There is no other choice. We must trample the pile of corpses at our feet and push on. Keep barking orders, keep fighting until every last one of those monsters is gone.
- ???: The Retroact Rain merely creates illusions of past events. My soldiers will not succumb to those hallucinations. I will not allow it.
- ???: We'll crush anything in our path, no questions asked.
- ???: And I will pave the way for us all with my Forte.
- ???: If tens, hundreds, thousands more of my men will die... So be it. We will win this battle, by any means necessary.
- ???: Jiyan, I have a question for you... What would you have done on that day, if you were in my postion?
- ???: Whatever you say... I'll never answer those brave souls with such silence and cowardice.
- ???: Prove yourself to me, Jiyan.
- ???: Caught you off guard, didn't they? Just like what happened on that rainy night...
- ???: Yes... Go on, Keep fighting.
- ???: Fight... Until the last of them is wiped out.
- Jiyan: General Geshu Lin... We fight to protect what we cherish.
- Jiyan: And we cherish our comrades, not out of cowardice of fear, but out of trust. The trust in their lives' worth.
- Jiyan: I cannot assure you I am always making the right choice, General.
- Jiyan: But we should never build our victory on top of endless sacrifices...
- Geshu Lin: Hah, is that so?
- Geshu Lin: As I see it, we are cut from the same cloth, you and I.
- Jiyan: Perhaps we are indeed, General. I share at least one thing with you. I, too, will draw my blade to fight for what I believe in... and I'll stop at nothing to see it through.
- Soldier: General!
- Jiyan: ...
- Soldier: General... You look pale.
- Jiyan: I am fine. Please go on.
- Soldier: We just detected an intense frequency from that Tacet Field ahead.
- Soldier: That moon... It's gradually turning full now, as you predicted.
- Soldier: The sky... It looks just like how it was during the Battle Beneath the Crescent...
- Jiyan: It's time.
- Soldier: Sir, the Midnight Rangers are ready. We await your orders.
- Jiyan: Attention all troops! Take position and get ready to engage!
- Soldier: Yes, sir!
- Jiyan: "When the moon turns full, a roving traveler shall return"... The prophecy is being fulfilled.
- Jiyan: Here they are.
- Jiyan: They're not coming at us... Are they trying to protect something... Or are they waiting for commands?
- Jiyan: With an TD Outbreak of this magnitude and organization, someone must be orchestrating it. Could it be...
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Is it just me?
- The moon, it's changing...
- Yangyang: It looks almost full now.
- Yangyang: And the Retroact Rain falling... Rover, maybe this is "the right time" Madam Magistrate was talking about?
- Jinhsi (Contacting): ...Citizens of Jinzhou, please remain calm and evacuate in an orderly manner as we practiced during previous drills...
- Jinhsi?
- Chixia: It's a pre-recorded broadcast message. Our Magistrate saw this coming, and she had General Jiyan devise an emergency plan a long time ago.
- Chixia: This wave of TD attacks should be over now.
- Chixia: We knew this was coming and we were ready, but oh boy, the amount of TDs is insane.
- Chixia: Thanks for coming in time, Rover. It would've taken us much longer to handle this.
- Chixia: Oh, Director Taoqi is here too. For a better run down of the situation, you can find her near the city gate!
- (If player talks to Yangyang before Taoqi)
- Weary Patroller: I must send these supplies to our men...
- Chixia: You're injured... Please go get yourself patched up first!
- Yangyang: Chixia is right. Please leave it to us. We'll help deliver these supplies.
- Weary Patroller: Huff... Okay... Thank you!
- Chixia: Rover, Yangyang and I need to get these stuff delivered.
- Chixia: Director Taoqi should be at the northern pass. We'll go meet you there as soon as we're done!
- (If player talks to Little Boy before Taoqi)
- Little Boy: Come on! Take down those bad guys!
- Worried Patroller: It's too dangerous here. Please go back.
- (If player talks to Eldery Person before Taoqi)
- Elder: Young man, we've gathered something for the troops. Please take care.
- Caring Patroller: Thanks, sir! I'll share them with my teammates. It's dangerous, please head back as soon as possible.
- (If player talks to Lingyang before Taoqi)
- Little Boy: *sob* I-I'm scared...
- Lingyang: Shhh, everyone will be alright. Look, the Patrollers and guards are all here to help. Those bad monsters won't stand a chance!
- Lingyang: But it's getting dangerous outside. We'll get you home real quick, okay?
- Lingyang: Hi, Rover! I'm Lingyang from the Liondance Troupe. Thank you so much for your help! If you don't mind, here's some food. Please have some!
- Lingyang: Ugh, those damn Tacet Discords. They just keep showing up out of nowhere...
- Lingyang: But worry not, the Liondance Troupe is here! We'll teach them a lesson!
- Lingyang: No one can beat us when it comes to morale!
- (If player talks to Verina before Taoqi)
- Verina: This lesion looks bad... Please stay still. I'll heal you with my Forte.
- Injured Midnight Ranger: My wounds are closing up... Thank you, Miss Verina!
- Verina: It's nothing. Glad I could help!
- Verina: Rover, are you alright? Let me heal you if you got injured.
- Verina: Jinzhou is such a beautiful place. The plants here are incredibly resilient. It's heartbreaking to imagine all of them getting wiped out from this war...
- Verina: I still have some herbs with me, Rover. They can help your wounds heal. I hope it helps.
- (If player talks to Yuanwu before Taoqi)
- Sincere Patroller: ...And that's all we've gathered so far...
- Yuanwu: If the wounded can't be transferred to hospitals in time, take them to my teahouse and boxing gym. We can set up temporary medical points there.
- Sincere Patroller: Thank you, Mr. Yuanwu!
- Yuanwu: As a citizen, it is my obligation to aid in the face of this immense danger. I'll do my best to assist.
- Yuanwu: Are you alright, younger mister/miss?
- Yuanwu: This is one of the largest TD Outbreaks I've witnessed. There have already been quite a few casualties. It seems far from over yet.
- Yuanwu: I still have some supplies with me. Please, take them. Stay safe out there.
- (If player talks to Serious Patroller before Taoqi)
- Serious Patroller: Hello, Rover. This is our temporary storage site. Help yourself to anything you need.
- Serious Patroller: People have generously donated a lot of supplies, and we must not disappoint them. Our mission is to defend this location at all costs.
- Serious Patroller: If you have questions, talk to Director Taoqi at the nearby pass. She's in charge.
- (If player talks to Yhan before Taoqi)
- Yhan: You still up for another fight or two?
- Resilient Midnight Ranger: Don't underestimate us, sir! Absolutely!
- High-spirited Midnight Ranger: We'll make sure those monsters leave defeated!
- Yhan: Good. That's the spirt. Remember what I've taught you!
- Yhan: Safety first, then take down as many of them as you can. Understood?
- Midnight Ranger: Aye, sir!
- Aalto: Any update on the protective barrier?
- Taoqi: We've put in all our resources to repair it. But, if those Tacet Discords keep coming at us, it might not hold up for long.
- Taoqi: Ah, I presume you must be Rover?
- And you are...
- Taoqi: Hmm... Maybe we've met somewhere before?
- Taoqi: Anyway, please allow me to introduce myself. I am Taoqi, a Director at the Ministry of Development. I'm in charge of our defense fortifications.
- Taoqi: Thank you for lending us a hand.
- What is this barrier you were talking about?
- Taoqi: It's our defense system against the Retroact Rain. It does a good job of keeping the city safe from the rain's effects.
- Is the TD Outbreak still going on?
- Aalto: What's more, the current TD Outbreak we're dealing with is directly caused by the Retroact Rain.
- Taoqi: Once the protective barrier breaks down, Tacet Discords could manifest from inside Jinzhou city...
- How does the Retroact Rain cause TD Outbreaks?
- Aalto: Rover, remember what I told you earlier?
- Aalto: The Retroact Rain is essentially condensed droplets of Remnant Energy that fall from the Etheric Sea.
- Aalto: This Remnant Energy makes it a magnet for Tacet Discords.
- Aalto: It records events from all times and places, allowing those who come into contact with it to witness illusions of past events.
- Aalto: That's what we call the Phantoms of Retroact Rain.
- Aalto: It kind of works like how Resonators "Resonate" with the world. The more you're exposed to the rain, the more realistic those Phantoms become.
- Aalto: Oh, and here's another interesting fact about Retroact Rain: when it's raining across a large area, illusions pulled from the memoires of multiple people can manifest at once.
- The Threnodian of War...
- And the deaths during these battles...
- Aalto: Nice catch, Rover.
- Aalto: Jinzhou has been a battleground for centuries. That's why it has to deal with the Threnodian that represents the concept of war, and wars will lead to deaths.
- Aalto: Once the Retroact Rain reaches its final stage, there will be thousands of Phantoms... Phantoms of dead soldiers and Tacet Discords.
- Taoqi: This is the one major threat that has been looming over Jinzhou.
- Taoqi: Our Magistrate ordered the construction of this barrier precisely because of that.
- What's so big about these Phantoms?
- Taoqi: Indeed the Phantoms should only mechanically repeat what they had been doing. They shouldn't have the ability to interfere with reality.
- Taoqi: But the Retroact Rain can be significantly enhanced through the Threnodian's power.
- Taoqi: As a result, said Phantoms become increasingly realistic to the point of inflicting real harm on humans.
- Taoqi: In that battle three years ago, our soldiers got into a gruelsome fight against countless Tacet Discords, either native to Norfall Barrens, or produced by the Retroact Rain... and endless swarms of Phantoms.
- Taoqi: "Phantoms" of Tacet Discords and our fallen soldiers repeated their indiscriminate attacks on everything in their sight.
- Taoqi: Soldiers could not tell friends from foe. The relentless rain even recreated the brutal deaths of their comrades, etched in vivid detail.
- Taoqi: The Norfall Barrens turned into a living hell, and to this day, we can still hear the desperate cries...
- Aalto: The "Battle Beneath the Crescent" was humanity's first reordered encounter with Retroact Rain enhanced by Threnodian power.
- Aalto: Your previous General sent back valuable video recordings of the rain. Those videos provided crucial information, which allowed nations worldwide to speed up their research on defense against the Retroact Rain.
- Aalto: Our people at the Black Shores have theorized that the Threnodian, abnormal "moon" sightings, and the Retroact Rain may be linked.
- Rain indicates changes in the moon's appearance...
- ...which in turn reflects the Threnodian's strength.
- Aalto: Yeah, something like that. But it's only a theory. We don't have enough data to verify anything.
- Aalto: So unfortunately, we can't predict Retroact Rains yet, but we know it's closely connected with Threnodians reviving. The TD Outbreaks are another sign.
- Taoqi: The moon just changed in an instant. If this theory turns out true, that means...
- The Threnodian is reviving sooner.
- Aalto: And Jinzhou's dealing with what happened three years ago.
- Couldn't see it coming.
- We can get through this.
- Aalto: A Threnodian's revival is never an independent occurrence. They can sense one another through some form of telepathic link.
- Aalto: The revival of a Threnodian in Jinzhou will trigger catastrophic events and effect other nations.
- Aalto: We gotta hustle back to the Tethys base, re-calibrate our Lament Detector, and warn them before it's too late.
- Aalto: Anyway, we'll take our leave now.
- Encore: Please stay safe...
- Taoqi: That's all we've gathered so far, Rover.
- Taoqi: The TD Outbreaks won't stop before the end of this rain. We must stay alert.
- Staff from Ministry of Development: Ma'am! There's another wave of them ahead!
- Taoqi: Sigh. Speak of the devil...
- Taoqi: I'll NEED to take a very long nap after this.
- Taoqi: Activate the defense mechanisms!
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Taoqi: Everyone, hold your ground!
- (After defeating the Tacet Discords)
- Taoqi: The Tacet Discords have been delt with. Let's go reinforce the outpost, it's still under attack.
- (After helping the soldier surrounded by Tacet Discords)
- Rescued Soldier: Thank you! Some of us are still fighting in there. We must go help them!
- (After defeating the Tacet Discords in base)
- Taoqi: Phew... Finally.
- Rescued Soldier: We made it! Thank you so much!
- Taoqi: It's dangerous here. Let's head back first.
- Chixia: Ugh... Please tell me this is the last one!
- Chixia: Rover, your moves are sharp as always. Dealing with so many TDs seems like a walk in the park for you.
- Practice makes perfect.
- It's all thanks to you.
- Can't call it a day without fighting those monsters.
- They seemed unusually aggressive.
- Yangyang: Rover, did you see that?
- The moon looks even more blurry now.
- Taoqi: Now it's almost identical to what we saw three years ago, during the "Battle Beneath the Crescent".
- Taoqi: I'm afraid... We're already running out of time.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Report the situation, please.
- Taoqi: Madam Magistrate, the barrier has been fully repaired and we have evacuated all residents. We've successfully minimized the damage.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Well done, Director Taoqi.
- Long time no see.
- How's it going on your end?
- Is this another pre-recorded message?
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Indeed, it's been a while, Rover.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): It's been going according to plan, if I may say so. I was made aware of this in advance, and planned out our defense beforehand.
- Was it another hint from Jué?
- Have you found Jué?
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Now that we are facing such an emergency, I cannot sit back and wait for Jué to save us. I will act and see my duty through. This is my decision.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): I have secured some much-needed aid for our city during my visit to the capital. Also, our experts should be ready by now.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Rover, do you still remember Jué's message for you?
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Now we have raindrops that fall upstream, and the Midnight Rangers' General in the Norfall Barrens, ready to take on the Ovathrax.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): This must be the right time Jué was talking about.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Rover, it's going to be dangerous. You might... directly confront a Threnodian.
- I'm ready to go.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Your eyes look as determined as ever.
- I have no other choice.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): I understand how you must feel, Rover.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): I have been in a similar situation before. When my life suddenly took a big turn, and I had no choice but to face it head on.
- I'll lend you a hand.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): On the entire Jinzhou's behalf, I am immensely grateful for your assistance, Rover.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): You will be remembered as a heroic ally in our defense against external threats, regardless of the outcome of this battle.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): May victory prevail the lasting night. I will pray for your safe return.
- Taoqi: Rover, I have informed border checkpoints across Jinzhou about your trip to the front line. You have been granted unlimited access to all places.
- Taoqi: Yangyang, you're one of our Outriders. I hope you can go with Rover and provide assistance.
- Taoqi: You'll need to pass through a Tacet Field to reach our base in the Desorock Highland. Please be careful.
- Chixia: Rover, Yangyang, I'll be keepin' the city safe as a Patroller. Do come back in one piece, okay?
- You can do it, Chixia!
- Chixia: Thanks! I'll give it my all!
- You can do it, Ma Xiaofang!
- Chixia: Rover! I said don't call me that... Nevermind we don't have time for this.
- You can do it, Jinzhou Speedster!
- Chixia: Wow, thanks Rover! Can't believe you still remember that title! I'll live up to it for sure!
- Taoqi: It seems the rain is not stopping anytime soon...
- Yangyang: The city... What if...
- Chixia: Rest assured. You can count on me!
- Yaunwu: I will keep everyone safe.
- Verina: Me... Me too!
- Lingyang: Don't forget us Liondance Troupe!
- Soldiers: We've got this!
- Taoqi: Hehe, as you can see. Everyone's ready to defend our city.
- Chixia: Rover, Yangyang, safe travels!
- Taoqi: I've informed General Jiyan that you're heading to his place. He will be meeting up with you soon.
- Chixia: May victory prevail the lasting night!
Meanwhile, in the Desorock Highland...
- Jiyan: Defend the south gate! Enemy attack weakening. This wave is almost over!
- Fighting Soldiers: North gate! Monsters incoming!
- Jiyan: Our enemies are spent. Hold your ground!
- Fighting Soldiers: It's over!
- Jiyan: All Tacet Discords nearby have been dealt with. Now, the city's defense...
- Jiyan: Please update me on the situation in Jinzhou city.
- Taoqi (Contacting): Under Madam Magistrate's command, the barrier has been activated and citizens are being evacuated to the safe zone.
- Taoqi (Contacting): Huaxu Academy and Ministry of Development are on standby for further instructions. Bazhi is overseeing operations at the Academy while Mortefi has arrived at the Ministry. Rest assured, we are all safe in the city.
- Taoqi (Contacting): And that Rover... He/She is heading over to meet you. Yangyang is coming with him/her.
- Jiyan: I see. We have successfully contained the Outbreak here at the base.
- Jiyan: I will go pick them up as soon as possible.
- Jiyan: The rain's getting heavier...
- Jiyan: There are signs of Tacet Discords reviving. Intense frequency fluctuations detected.... they'll be passing through that area. I must create a safe passage for them.
- Jiyan: I need to clear the way for them as quickly as possible.
- Jiyan: A couple more Tacet Discords here... Time to get rid of them.
- Jiyan: Is that...
- Jiyan: The Thundering Mephis?
On the other side of the Desorock Highland...
- Yangyang: The Threnodian's revival has done significant damage to the environment nearby...
- Yangyang: Things have gotten even more dangerous out here. The closer we get to Norfall Barrens, the worse it gets.
- Yangyang: The Streams feel heavy with dread and the smell of blood... There must be a brutal fight going down in the Desorock Highland.
- Yangyang: The Tacet Field Director Taoqi mentioned should be right up ahead. We must pass through it to reach our base and find General Jiyan.
- Yangyang: I wonder what other anomalies await us ahead...
- Yangyang: Is that one of our soldiers ahead?
- Yangyang: The Phantoms contain a lot of Remnant Energy... These Tacet Discords might be coming after it!
- Yangyang: The Rain is spreading across Desorock Highland... I can feel chaos growing in the Streams. We must hurry.
- (Watch the two phantom soldiers)
- Tough Midnight Ranger: Our loved ones are counting on us! If we fail, Jinzhou falls!
- Timid Midnight Ranger: Easy for you to say! We're just ordinary folks with no powers!
- Tough Midnight Ranger: We have our will and bodies! Those monsters aren't going anywhere, not when I'm still alive!
- (Watch the two phantom soldiers by the pond)
- Tired Midnight Ranger: Ugh... When will we ever see the end of this...
- High-spirited Midnight Ranger: General Geshu has already brought us this far. We'll be over this soon!
- Tired Midnight Ranger: That must be the lair of the damned Ova-something. We just need to get rid of it, and that's all.
- High-spirited Midnight Ranger: Yeah. Let's not drag our General's feet at least. Gotta step up our game...
- Yangyang: Those soldiers... They are Phantoms too. Watch out!
- Yangyang: More Tacet Discords... Be careful!
- (Watch the two phantom soldiers by the rock)
- Devastated Midnight Ranger: Who... Who are you! Are you human?! Answer me!
- Shocked Midnight Ranger: What... what are you talking about? I'm Jun!
- Devastated Midnight Ranger: No... you're not... Aghhhh!
- Shocked Midnight Ranger: Jingyang... you...
- Devastated Midnight Ranger: You... You are... Jun! No... No no no, what have I done?!
- Devastated Midnight Ranger: Sorry... I'm so sorry. I can't the differences... I really can't... Ahh...
- Yangyang: The Retroact Rain's effect are worsening... We must proceed with caution.
- Yangyang: There, another wounded soldier!
- Yangyang: The Streams are stabilizing. I don't feel anything unusual about him... He's not a Phantom. Let's go help him out!
- Dying Midnight Ranger: Are you... Yangyang? Oh, thank goodness...
- Yangyang: ...What happened here?
- Dying Midnight Ranger: The Thundering Mephis... it came back...
- Dying Midnight Ranger: I'm part of the Desorock Highland supply transport team...
- Dying Midnight Ranger: This is where our supply station is... We work to keep our soldiers alive.
- Dying Midnight Ranger: We were on our way, had to go through this Tacet Field...
- Dying Midnight Ranger: Thundering Mephis... The rain brought it back to life, crushing our transport...
- Dying Midnight Ranger: In the end, I barely escaped... I can't move anymore...
- Dying Midnight Ranger: This place... Dangerous... Careful... Please...
- (Cutscene plays)
- Jiyan: Watch out!
- Yangyang: General!
- (Cutscene ends)
- Jiyan: ...Thundering Mephis.
- Jiyan: We must bring it down to keep pushing forward.
- Jiyan: ...Begone!
- Yangyang: We did it!
- Jiyan: The Thundering Mephis is a blend of countless fallen soldiers' Reverberations.
- Jiyan: As long as more soldiers are still dying here, it will always return. Not to mention...
- Jiyan: Countless souls of our brave soldiers remain trapped in this rain, to this day.
- Yangyang: ...General.
- Jiyan: Sorry, I should've arrived sooner.
- Honored to meet you, General Jiyan.
- Jiyan: The honor is mine, Rover.
- You must be that General?
- Jiyan: Yes, allow me to introduce myself. I am Jiyan, the current General of the Midnight Rangers.
- I think I've seen you before...
- Jiyan: Is that so? You're a mysterious individual with vast experience. If we had crossed paths before, I wouldn't be surprised.
- Are you a "Phantom"?
- Jiyan: The Phantoms are mere replicas of the past. Since this is our first time meeting, I wouldn't recognize you if I was one of them. But I do wish we could've met sooner, Rover.
- Jiyan: Madam Magistrate and Taoqi have informed me of your willingness to assist us. Thank you for lending u a hand.
- Jiyan: I should properly welcome you with Haunglong's formalities, but as the current situation forbids that, I'll brief you on our plans as fast as possible.
- Straight to confidential stuff?
- Jiyan: I've heard about your deeds from Madam Magistrate. You are a trustworthy allay according to her.
- Jiyan: Here. It's the Retroact Rain antidote, developed by the Academy.
- Jiyan: While the antidote cannot shield you from its effects entirely, it should at least lessen the hallucinations.
- What if I was a "Phantom", then?
- Jiyan: For someone to show up as a "Phantom" in the Retroact Rain, two conditions must be met:
- Jiyan: Prior exposure to the rain, and a deep connection to the affected area.
- Jiyan: You were found in the Gorges of Spirits only recently, and this is your first time setting foot in Jinzhou, ruling out that possibility.
- Jiyan: Moreover... you possess a similar ability with the legendary hero who once absorbed a Threnodian. Jué prophesied about your arrival.
- Jiyan: I was told you'd come to the Norfall Barrens one day... To reclaim your lost power from Ovathrax.
- Jiyan: I'll do everything in my power to help you make that happen.
- Another prophecy of Jué?
- Reclaim my lost power?
- Jiyan: Yes. Madam Magistrate might not be aware of this, as it happened before she was appointed.
- Jiyan: On the day I was selected to be the next General, Jué told me this...
- Jiyan: "Beneath the full moon, guide the returning one to confront Threnodian. From the threat itself, he/she shall reclaim the power to conquer it."
- Jiyan: And if you are indeed the "returning one" mentioned here, we may actually get rid of that monster once and for all.
- Jiyan: You might have noticed something off about that moon. We call it the "Void Plenilune".
- Jiyan: Once it fully takes shape... Ovathax, the Threnodian of War, would be reawakening soon.
- Jiyan: It is an ancient terror that reigns over our land, capable of devouring weapon frequencies to enhance itself.
- Jiyan: The Norfall Barrens have become a massive graveyard of weapons after countless battles. Those weapons would've made it even stronger than before.
- Jiyan: But we must act now. The Void Plenilune is already visible, we must contain the Threnodian swiftly. Any delay could allow it to recover and become harder to deal with.
- Understood. What are we doing next?
- Jiyan: To remain calm in such an extreme situation, your composure is admirable indeed.
- Okay. I'm at it!
- Jiyan: Hold on! We cannot afford to rush the plan.
- Any suggestion for music at my funeral?
- Jiyan: Fret not. Our enemy is strong, but not unbeatable. I am positive we will prevail.
- Jiyan: We'll get into the specifics once we reach our base.
- Jiyan: I've taken care of all the Tacet Discords nearby on my way here. The path ahead should be relatively safe now.
- Jiyan: Keep going, and we'll reach the base soon.
- Yangyang: Wait... Is that...
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Jiyan: Ovathrax's towering statue, built from repurposed weapons and debris, has long loomed over Jinzhou as a foreboding symbol of our ongoing struggle.
- Jiyan: We managed to gravely injure it three years ago, making the statue sink into the water. And now, it just resurfaced... Our enemy must be eager to strike.
- Jiyan: The Vanguard Base is right up ahead. Let's hurry over.
- (Talk to the Midnight Rangers near the railing)
- Midnight Ranger: That statue... It just showed up again...
- Midnight Ranger on Duty: I remember seeing it three years ago. We must ready ourselves for battle!
- (Talk to the Midnight Rangers near the crates to the left)
- Prepared Midnight Ranger: How's the weapons?
- Midnight Ranger: We're all set!
- Prepared Midnight Ranger: Good. Can't be careless in this battle.
- Jianxin: Greetings, General.
- Yangyang: Master Jianxin? Didn't know I'd be seeing you here...
- Jiyan: Jianxin recently arrived at our base with one of the supply delivery teams. She has been a great help.
- Jianxin: General, you flatter me.
- Jianxin: I've heard people comparing the Norfall Barrens to a massive graveyard. Whenever it rains, cries and moans can be heard, as if many ghosts are weeping.
- Jianxin: Master once told me life and death should follow a natural course. The heavens and earth form a vast chamber, where spirits freely depart and return.
- Jianxin: Countless brave souls have been trapped here by the evil powers of Ovathrax. I want to help set them free.
- Jiyan: Please follow me.
- Jiyan: Our main goal is to contain the reviving Threnodian, but we must beware of the Tacet Discords too. They have shown unpredictability in every past battle.
- Jiyan: The Academy determined they were not native to the Norfall Barrens, and instead had been conjured by a mysterious power.
- Jiyan: After analyzing their behavior, I believe the source of said power is none other than that statue.
- Jiyan: While the Ovathrax is still weakened, we must seize the opportunity to act.
- Jiyan: With looming danger from the continued onsets of TD Outbreaks, and many of our units injured and unable to fight, it is crucial to plan our attack wisely.
- Jiyan: Please, join me in mapping out the strategic plans.
- (Talk to the Midnight Rangers on the right)
- Worried Midnight Ranger: How's your injury?
- Excited Midnight Ranger: Fully healed. I'm ready to go!
- Worried Midnight Ranger: Don't push yourself too much. Stay safe in the upcoming fights.
- (Talk to the Midnight Rangers across from the command center)
- Frustrated Midnight Ranger: Something's wrong. This TD Outbreak seems different, unlike the previous ones caused by Retroact Rain.
- Frustrated Midnight Ranger: According to the Academy people, we should see converging energy trails.
- Frustrated Midnight Ranger: But no energy trails this time, the Tacet Discords are appearing out of thin air, as if summoned...
- Calm Midnight Ranger: You mean... It is the Threnodian's work?
- Frustrated Midnight Ranger: Likely so. We have to find and stop it before it's too late.
- (Talk to the Soldier outside)
- Soldier: The battle is upon us. Are you ready?
- Soldier: We must defend Jinzhou and all we hold dear. Victory will be ours!
- Soldiers: Victory will be ours!
- Soldier: We will prevail the lasting night!
- Jiyan: I have split all combat units into three factions:
- Jiyan: The ranged team will provide fire support from afar while the infantry team engages in close combat. Lastly...
- Jiyan: We have the special task force of Rover, Yangyang, Jianxin, and me.
- Jiyan: Allow me to introduce Konglin, leader of the ranged units team.
- Jiyan: And this is Yuehui. He's in charge of the infantry team.
- Jiyan: This is topographic map of the Norfall Barrens.
- Jiyan: The Ovathrax's power limits our reach. Outrider scouts can't go beyond the Norfall Barrens and Valley junction.
- Jiyan: The deepest we ventured was three years ago, when we discovered the Suspended Ruins in its hinterland.
- Jiyan: But the terrain is treacherous; narrow and flanked by high cliffs on both sides, leaving only one path for our troops to travel.
- Jiyan: On the other hand, our enemies must take the same route if they want to attack us.
- Jiyan: With the Ovathrax reorganizing their frequencies and bringing them back, we will face endless waves of attacks.
- Jiyan: Every time we cut down an enemy, it gains more power.
- Jiyan: Time is of the essence. We cannot afford a prolonged battle.
- Jiyan: We must swiftly and safely get our strongest units in the heart of the battlefield, reach that statue, and take down Ovathrax in time.
- Jiyan: Rover, let's plan carefully and use each team's strengths to our advantage.
- Jiyan: First, our ranged units. Armed with long-range weapons, they can strike from a distance.
- Jiyan: But we need to strategize based on the terrain, topography, and enemy forces.
- Jiyan: If we manipulate the terrain to our advantage, their strikes will be more effective and cover a larger range.
- Jiyan: Where should we deploy the ranged units?
- On the cliffs, from the sides of the valley.
- Behind infantry units, at the valley's bottom.
- Rover: (Our main battlefield will be at the valley's bottom, where space and vision are limited.)
- Rover: (Placing ranged units behind infantry can slow their aim, making it counterproductive... This may not be the best strategy.)
- Among infantry units, they will charge as one.
- Rover: (Mixing ranged and infantry units may seem versatile, but it wastes the advantage of ranged units... This may not be the best strategy.)
- Jiyan: Deploying our ranged units high above the valleys in advance...
- Jiyan: This way, they'll provide cover for our close-combat forces while staying safe themselves. We'll use their range advantage to the fullest. It's a smart move.
- Jiyan: Next, the infantry. They have been trained and equipped for close combat.
- Jiyan: The heart of Norfall Valley is our main battleground, where we'll fight our enemies head-on. We need to plan our attack wisely.
- Jiyan: How should the infantry engage enemy targets?
- From the front.
- From the flank.
- Rover: (We could divert some forces to flank the enemy, disrupting their formation and gaining an edge...)
- Rover: (However, a successful outflank requires a wide battlefield, but the small passage of Norfall Barrens limits our options for movement.)
- Rover: (And we can't predict everything that will happen on the battlefield... Our diversion could leave our frontline vulnerable. It may not be the best strategy.
- From the rear.
- Rover: (To infiltrate enemy lines, a small group of our forces will enter through gaps in their formation and attack from the rear.)
- Rover: (This maneuver takes time and requires caution to avoid detection, particularly in a valley where evasion is difficult.)
- Rover: (Small infiltration forces may stay hidden but risk being overwhelmed by enemy attacks. Alternatively, diverting forces could lead to losing on the main front.)
- Rover: (We have little knowledge of what's happening behind enemy lines... Better not act rashly. This may not be the best strategy.)
- Jiyan: Now that the narrow terrain has dictated an inevitable confrontation...
- Jiyan: The infantry will attack head-on, breaking their line. Then our task force can strike when they're vulnerable... A reasonable choice.
- Jiyan: Lastly, the special task force, all Resonators with powerful abilities. They have superior mobility and combat skills.
- Jiyan: If the chance arises, they will be responsible for taking down the Ovathrax.
- Jiyan: What should the special task force do?
- Target the weak point in their formation.
- Use flank tactics.
- Rover: (Hmm... flank tactics aim to avoid direct confrontation and exploit enemy weaknesses to take them down slowly.)
- Rover: (However, our combat power could be drained by the endless enemy assaults if we don't eliminate the Ovathrax in time.)
- Rover: (We can't afford to prolong engagement... There may be more effective tactics available.)
- Split up and cover each other.
- Rover: (We could split into two groups to cover each other during our mission. It could increase safety and efficiency.)
- Rover: (But if we further split up our small team of four, we risk getting outmatched in extreme situations.)
- Rover: (Also finding cover for everyone may prove difficult during an intense fight.)
- Rover: (Perhaps we should consider other options... There may be more effective tactics available.)
- Jiyan: We'll join our effort to break through their defenses and crush their source of power. This is the only way to completely rout the enemies.
- Jiyan: It's risky but necessary move under our current circumstances.
- Jiyan: Thank you, Rover. The battle plan is clear.
- Jiyan: I will now recap our plan:
- Jiyan: Konglin, your team will take the cliffs for fire support.
- Jiyan: Yuehui, your team will charge enemy lines to pave way for the special task force.
- Konglin and Yuehui: Aye, sir!
- Jiyan: And I'll join Rover, Yangyang, and Jianxin to create an opening for our main forces to take down the Threnodian.
- Jiyan: Good. Are we all clear on what to do?
- Jiyan: Our next move is to reclaim the Disruptor and break through the Groundwave Barrier.
- The Disruptor?
- The Groundwave Barrier?
- More unfamiliar terms...
- Jiyan: Rover, do you see that iridescent vail?
- Jiyan: That's the Groundwave Barrier. Ovathrax set it up to absorb weapon frequencies in the Norfall Barrens without interruption.
- Jiyan: One of our top priorities now is to protect the Disruptor from Tacet Discord attacks.
- Jiyan: It's a powerful anti-Threnodian weapon from when Jinzhou was founded. We need it to break through this barrier.
- Jiyan: I'll leave it to the professional to explain in details.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Greetings, General Jiyan, Rover.
- Jiyan: How's the preparation going on your side?
- Mortefi (Contacting): We've got good news and bad news. Good news is, we've established connection to the Disruptor and we're ready to go.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Bad news is, the Disruptor's electric capacitor is damaged.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Simply put, it's out of power.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Fortunately, there should be a backup power outlet.
- Mortefi (Contacting): To use the Disruptor, we'll have to repair that outlet first, then wait for a full charge.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Any questions?
- Can we blow up the Threnodian with this?
- Mortefi (Contacting): In theory, we could. In practice, it's difficult.
- Mortefi (Contacting): First, it could dodge our attack. Not even a perfect hit can kill it. It will be gravely injured, but not dead.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Threnodians have been proven to be way stronger than we imagined. Our Disruptor can't handle the Ovathrax, but it can certainly break through that Barrier.
- Why is it still powered by pre-Lament energy?
- Mortefi (Contacting): That's because this ancient Disruptor dates back at least to the founding of Jinzhou.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Creating such a powerful weapon with limited technology back then... whoever did it was truly a genius, I must say.
- Mortefi (Contacting): If we were to unleash its full power on Jinzhou city, it might launch the entire place into the air.
- Can you make some more Disruptors?
- Mortefi (Contacting): ...I can, but it takes time.
- Mortefi (Contacting): No matter how fast I build it... Jinzhou won't be able to hold out that long.
- I don't have more questions.
- Mortefi (Contacting): By the way, this is a weapon of mass destruction... The Capital would want strict control over its use, I assume?
- Mortefi (Contacting): Will they really approve our application?
- Jiyan: The Magistrate and I have it covered. Trust me.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Alright, we'll be waiting for the green light.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Lastly, we've got more bad news... Baizhi, please fill us in.
- Baizhi (Contacting): Yes.
- Baizhi (Contacting): Rover, I am currently monitoring the Tacet Discord attacks from the Academy to design a safer route for you.
- Baizhi (Contacting): We just received word from our soldiers at the emplacement. A large number of Tacet Discords are targeting the Disruptor, and our troops are doing their best to defend it.
- Baizhi (Contacting): The Disruptor has been surrounded by the Tacet Discords, with more of them slowly closing in.
- Baizhi (Contacting): After we recapture the nearby emplacement, it will take some more time for the Disruptor to recharge. You may need to hold out a little longer.
- Baizhi (Contacting): I'll send you the coordinates of the Disruptor and its backup energy port. We wish you the best of luck.
- Jiyan: I trust we all understand the situation now.
- Jiyan: Rover, Yangyang, please go secure the Disruptor and fix its backup energy outlet.
- Jiyan: Jianxin, please stay and guard the base. I'll draw those Tacet Discords away.
- Jiyan: Let's get moving.
- (Talk to Yuehui)
- Yuehui: Greetings, Rover! I've heard about you!
- Yuehui: I'm Yuehui, in charge of our infantry. This is Konglin, our ranged units leader. We're making battle plans.
- Yuehui: You see, the valley's got a tricky terrain. We'll need a way to maximize firepower.
- Yuehui: Any suggestions? Please do share.
- Yuehui: We must consider all options and brace for the worst.
- (Talk to Jianxin outside)
- Jianxin: Rover, I'll defend our base. General Jiyan has set off with his team to distract those Tacet Discords.
- Jianxin: We'll leave the Disruptor to you.
- Guard of the Rangers: You must be...
- Yangyang: Yangyang, an Outrider, General Jiyan sent us here to help. How are things going?
- Guard of the Rangers: Those monsters have occupied the emplacement with a surprise attack, but a few brave troops are still holding on.
- Guard of the Rangers: We've blocked off access to protect our base, but I'm opening it up for you.
- Guard of the Rangers: Please, they need your help. We're counting on you!
- Yangyang: The Tacet Discords are everywhere... They've cornered a soldier! Over there! He needs our help!
- Yangyang: We should be safe now. I hope he's alright... Let's go check on him.
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: General... is that you...
- General Jiyan sent me here.
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: Is that so... Great...
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: We know how important... This cannon is...
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: We kept it safe... Never let them have it...
Despite Yangyang's efforts to help the soldier, it seems that the soldier's condition is no longer showing any signs of improvement.
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: This... Reparation Key... Take it...
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: I may not see our victory in person...
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: Please... please defeat that monster... for us...
- You are a brave warrior.
- We will prevail.
- Heavily-injured Midnight Ranger: Thank... you...
- Yangyang: ...Yes, we will win. Please... rest in peace.
- Yangyang: Disruptor 50% charged... Enemies ahead. Watch out, Rover!
- Yangyang: Diruptor's at 80%! Their offense is weakening. Hold on just a little longer, Rover!
- Yangyang: Disruptor's fully charged! Rover, let's take out the remaining Tacet Discords together!
- Yangyang: It's him, General Jiyan!
- Jiyan: Well done.
- Jiyan: ...The rain has stopped.
- Baizhi (Contacting): General, the Retroact Rain's effects are subsiding. We are observing a sharp decline in the number of Tacet Discords in the Norfall Barrens.
- Mortefi (Contacting): The Disruptor is fully charged and ready to fire. But...
- Mortefi (Contacting): It takes a lot of energy to fire the Disruptor. If we missed...
- Jiyan: ...This is our only chance.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Greetings. Can you hear me?
- Jinhsi (Contacting): As the Magistrate of Jinzhou, I have obtained the approval to use the Disruptor in combat.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): The enormous energy consumption, the risk of a misfire, and the weight of this decision... I will bear the responsibility.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): I alone will be accountable for the outcome of this battle, whatever it may be.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): General, Rover, please march on.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): May victory prevail the lasting night. I pray for your safe return.
- Jiyan: ...Thank you for your trust, Madam Magistrate.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): No need for that, General. We've always shared the same goal, you and I.
- Jinhsi (Contacting): Attention, all units. Do everything you can to assist. You are authorized to use the Disruptor.
- Jiyan: Target, the Norfall Barrens.
- Jiyan & Jinhsi: Defend Jinzhou at all costs!
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Jiyan: Rocks! One o'clock!
- Yangyang: Watch out! Tacet Discords incoming!
- Yangyang: There's more of them!
- Jiyan: Move! We're running out of time!
- Jiyan: We'll shake them off. Use your Grapple now!
- Yangyang: Master Jianxin!
- Jianxin: There's too many of them. Someone must stay behind to keep them at bay.
- Jianxin: Carry on with your mission. You can leave the rest to me.
- Jiyan: Yangyang, Rover... Follow me! We're going down from here!
- Yangyang: Rover, are you alright?
- Jiyan: Stay sharp. More Tacet Discords incoming.
- Jiyan: The Suspended Ruins are ahead of us.
- Jiyan: The Resonance Beacon here is still functioning, and the defense feature is intact too. We can catch our breath here.
- Jiyan: The Ovathrax assault has been brutal, as expected. We've been cut off from our main forces.
- Jiyan: It's the three of us against them all from here.
- Yangyang: Master Jianxin... I hope she is okay...
- Jiyan: I tried to contact her and our base, but nothing came back. The Threnodian's power is possibly interfering with Terminal signals.
- Jiyan: We have no choice but to trust them now. Let's press on.
- Jiyan: We're bound to face a vicious fight.
- Jiyan: We've reached the Suspended Ruins. We'll get going once you're ready.
- Jiyan: It's unusually quiet inside. Tread with caution.
- Pull it away with our Grapple. Jiyan: This wall... We should be able to
- Jiyan: Every path ahead has been cut off...
- Jiyan: We're not seeing anything at the moment... Rover, be careful. Something bigger might be waiting for us ahead.
- Jiyan: Creating a Tacet Discord of this level... But it won't stop us!
- Jiyan: As expected, the enemies are increasingly strong as we approach the statue.
- Jiyan: Have you been injured, Rover, Yangyang?
- Yangyang: I'm okay, but Rover, he/she...
- I'm fine.
- It's nothing.
- Jiyan: ...Give me your hand.
- Jiyan: Hmm... Knew it. The battle has left you with a few scratches.
- Jiyan: I still have some first-aid with me. Please use them.
- Jiyan: The upcoming battles will be even more dangerous. Should you get injured, you must let me know in time.
- Jiyan: Let's keep moving.
- Jiyan: There are several floating platforms ahead... Perhaps we can make use of them.
- Yangyang: Watch out! I can feel Tacet Discords ahead.
- Jiyan: These rocks are blocking our way. We'll need to get rid of them.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Finally... Rover, you hear me?
- Mortefi (Contacting): Our signals got blocked off by the Threnodian's power. Took us a lot of effort to make this call get through.
- Mortefi (Contacting): I have to say your Terminal has a very intriguing design. We'd love to thoroughly investigate it once we have the chance...
- Mortefi (Contacting): Now back to business. We are aware of your situation.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Luckily, your current location is still within the Disruptor's range. We can provide fire support.
- Mortefi (Contacting): You're seen what the Disruptor is capable of. We can turn down the output power, but I strongly advise finding cover far away.
- Jiyan: The structure of this building is almost entirely destroyed... We'll need to create a safe space where we can take cover.
- Yangyang: There is a floating platform over there... Perhaps we can make use of it.
- Jiyan: Aim at that wall. We can pull ourselves over!
- Jiyan: Mortefi, it's time!
- Mortefi (Contacting): Understood. Watch out, everyone!
- Yangyang: We did it!
- Mortefi (Contacting): The Disruptor's power is down to one third. We can only fire it one more time. After that, it needs to recharge.
- Mortefi (Contacting): Take care, everyone. I'm on standby to help you anytime.
- Jiyan: Let's try pulling the floating boulders together. This should make our path ahead.
- Jiyan: One moment, Rover.
- Jiyan: We can work the terrain to our advantage here. Let's try pull that wall down on them, and they'll be trapped underneath.
- Jiyan: Well done.
- Jiyan: Same situation. Let's do it again.
- Jiyan: An Impermanence Heron? In this place? Rover, let's approach it with care.
- Jiyan: So many enemies along the way... I couldn't have made it past them so fast without you.
- Jiyan: We're almost there... The statue's power is getting stronger. I can feel it.
- Jiyan: We don't have much time left. Let's move on.
- Yangyang: There are some more floor up there... but how are we going to climb up?
- Jiyan: I can see a Gravity Stream up ahead. It's currently blocked off. We'll pull the rocks away first, then let it carry us up there.
- Jiyan: More rocks... Let's remove them once we find a foothold.
- Yangyang: We have almost reached the top. That giant rock... We've got to remove it somehow.
- Jiyan: It moved a little. Let's give it a couple more go.
- Yangyang: Almost there...
- Yangyang: Phew... We did it!
- Jiyan: We'll reach the top soon...
- Jiyan: The road ahead is completely blocked off.
- Jiyan: You choose where the Disruptor's last blast hits. Make it count, Rover.
- Jiyan: May it cleave out a path for us.
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Jiyan: This amount of enemies... We cannot fire the Disruptor again...
- Jiyan: Yangyang, you...
- Yangyang: The Threnodian is only going to summon more of them as we go. We need someone to keep them away and escort the others into the statue.
- Yangyang: I understand you're planning to do it yourself, General, but I think I am better suited for this task.
- Yangyang: We all want to beat the Threnodian once and for all.
- Yangyang: I understand you don't want to leave anyone behind. But we all know you and Rover have the best chance against that monster.
- Yangyang: Now that our shared goal is within hand's reach, I... I do not want to let it slip away.
- Jiyan: ...Indeed, Yangyang. Turns out I was the one being indecisive.
- ...I see.
- Yangyang...
- Yangyang: I've witnessed the faith and fortitude of so many on our way here. It's time I fulfill their trust.
- Yangyang: Rover, please leave it to me. I'll have your back
- Jiyan: Now, Rover...
- Jiyan: Please make the call.
- Yangyang: I will stand guard here. The Threnodian will not be able to draw more power from the monsters here.
- Yangyang: I'll leave the rest to you.
- Right there!
- Fire!
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Jiyan: It seems the culprit is hidden deep within this statue.
- Jiyan: This will be our final battle with the Threnodian. Rover, are you ready?
- Ready to kick some Threnodian arse!
- Jiyan: That's the spirit.
- There's no turning back.
- Jiyan: Indeed. We've come too far to turn back now.
- We must answer their expectations.
- Jiyan: Yes, so many put their faith in us.
- I'd be lying to say I'm not nervous.
- Jiyan: Being nervous is not necessarily detrimental; sometimes it helps you focus. Take a deep breath, and then...
- Jiyan: Let's bring an end to this war, once and for all.
- Jiyan: That's... another "moon"... What on earth is happening...
- Jiyan: The Crownless... The Threnodian has reconstructed its frequencies.
- Crownless: FIGHT... ABSORB... EVOLVE...
- Jiyan: It's been immobilized. Time to strike!
- Jiyan: Those frequencies we just crashed... The "moon" is drawing them in?
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Jiyan: That "moon" has cannibalized the Crownless's remaining frequencies to create another monster.
- Jiyan: I remember... I saw it during the Battle Beneath the Crescent...
- ???: DON'T YOU DARE... COME CLOSE...
- Jiyan: This is the swordsmanship we teach our new recruits... How dare you!
- (Cutscene plays) (Cutscene ends)
- Jiyan: Watch out for its ranged attacks!
- Jiyan: Rover, have you noticed?
- Jiyan: It avoids attacking the "moon" behind. That "moon" must be the core of our enemy.
