Head to the Ministry of Development and inquire Xiaoyu about the situation

UI Quest Quest Description

Xiaoyu from the Ministry of Development is in trouble. Go ask her about what happened.
(Approach designated location)

Inquire Xiaoyu about the situation

(Talk to Xiaoyu)
Xiaoyu: What now? It's almost time to head to the mine, but we still haven't found a suitable candidate.
Xiaoyu: Miss Taoqi has already got so much on her plate. I shouldn't be troubling her with this...
Xiaoyu: (Rover), long time no see. Something the matter?
Icon Dialogue Talk I heard you complain from afar.
Xiaoyu: Oh, did I? I was kind of troubled by the work, so maybe I raised the voice unconsciously.
Xiaoyu: By the way, (Rover), you have been in Jinzhou for a while. I think you are aware of the things around.
Xiaoyu: I have a favor to ask of you, on behalf of the Ministry of Development.
Icon Dialogue Talk Just friendly citizen pass by.
Xiaoyu: Friendly citizen... Oh, Mr. Friendly, could you be so friendly as to help me on this?
Icon Dialogue Talk Tell me about it.
Icon Dialogue Talk Help on what?
Xiaoyu: Here, take a look at this.
Xiaoyu takes out a small glass container, in which some rock fragments are stored.
Icon Dialogue Talk What are these?
Xiaoyu: These are samples of a mineral called Lampylumen, which, after being smelted, can be used as a semiconductor material in various industrial components.
Xiaoyu: And that may be only one aspect of its value.
Xiaoyu: Right now, my colleagues from Ordnance and Defense Divisions are working together to explore its potential for other uses.
Xiaoyu: However, because Lampylumen has such a complex structure, the experiments and processing are very tricky.
Xiaoyu: This small bottle of samples we have here is the result of countless tedious steps.
Xiaoyu: Luckily, our researchers have found a new direction. Liquefaction. This will help us explore some of the mineral's unknown properties.
Xiaoyu: The only problem is that the equipment in our labs cannot provide the condition for appropriate liquefaction. Carrying out the processing there will probably destroy the material's structure.
Xiaoyu: But then we learned that the Tiger's Maw Mine, where the mineral originates, might have the methods and equipment we need.
Xiaoyu: So we made an appointment with the Mine today to test the samples, but an emergency meeting came up. Everyone's tied up right now!
Icon Dialogue Talk Can't you reschedule it?
Xiaoyu: No. We don't put off what can be done today, Things will only get trickier if we deal with it tomorrow.
Xiaoyu: Could you sent the samples to the Tiger's Maw Mine for me, if possible? Of course, the Ministry of Development will reward you.
Icon Dialogue Talk No problem. Leave it to me.
Xiaoyu: Great. I knew you'd help.
Icon Dialogue Talk Doesn't sound too much of a problem.
Xiaoyu: So I'll take that as a yes.
Xiaoyu: Oh no. The meeting is about to begin. I have to hurry up.
Xiaoyu: Take this. That's the sample you are delivering. And this is the Ministry's ID. We're counting on you.
Hidden Dangers in Peaceful Life [Unlocked}

Head to the mine to process materials

(Follow along designated location)

Search for relevant personnel

(Approach designated location)
Lei'li: Doctor Huayu, hove you found him?
Huayu: Nope. Been everywhere he would show up. Didn't find him. Just like you.
Modee: Uncle Hong is getting older and has become more unpredictable. It's hard to pin him down, even on a normal day.
Huayu: Let's keep looking. We can't afford to have the Refinery Tower offline for too long.
Icon Dialogue Talk Hello?
Icon Dialogue Talk Excuse me.
Lei'li: A travelling salesman? The mine is closed for business today. Please come back another day.
Modee: Jinzhou is not far from here. You can take some rest there.
Huayu: You should stop rushing before the guest even says anything. Let him/her finish.
Icon Dialogue Talk The Ministry of Development sent me to deliver these samples.
Huayu: Oh, a guest from the Ministry. Let me introduce myself. I'm the doctor of the Mine, Huayu.
Huayu: The tall guy next to me me is Lei'li, the foreman here, and this is Modee, a mineral expert from the Academy.
Huayu: A few days ago, I heard about the sample agreement between the Mine and the Ministry. Please, how should I address you?
Icon Dialogue Talk Call me (Rover).
Huayu: Ah, (Rover), I see. But in the photo attached to the Ministry's request, the person in charge is a young, nervous-looking girl. How come...
Huayu: I got the message and the photo from Uncle Hong, the senior officer-in-chief here. Look, this is the photo.
You take out the photo from Huayu. It's clearly not you, so all you can do is show him the ID you were given as proof.
Icon Dialogue Talk There was an episode.
Huayu: Hm, the ID is indeed from the Ministry of Development. Let's overlook the minor details, then. To be blunt, the Mine is facing some issues fulfilling the Ministry's request.
Icon Dialogue Talk Like I said, this person isn't me.
Huayu: Haha, this thing is legitimate. Maybe there was [sic] some little accidents back at the Ministry. Now I'll be straight: the Mine is facing some problem [sic] too, regarding the Ministry's request.
Huayu: Modee has more details.
Modee: The Refinery Tower at the center of the Mine is offline, but some minerals require it for processing.
Modee: So do the Ministry's samples. Right now, we're working on a solution to reboot the Refinery Tower.
Huayu: Incidents like this have happened before, but our on-site engineer was always quick to fix it and get things back on track.
Huayu: But he injured himself a while back while working on some other equipment. He's in Jinzhou recovering now.
Huayu: That left Uncle Hong to take over. He used to be in charge of the Refinery Tower when he was younger, so he's more than qualified.
Huayu: Whenever something went wrong in the past, Uncle Hong was always the one on the front lines, fixing things and coordinating repairs.
Huayu: But this time, Uncle Hong hasn't shown up, and we can't seem to find him anywhere in the Mine.
Huayu: With his absence, the Mine is having all kinds of difficulties dealing with the Refinery Tower.
Lei'li: If you ask me, I think the old man's just taking it easy. Maintenance work like that has got to wear on his old bones.
Lei'li: Maybe he's hiding somewhere, watching us, muttering, "Damn kids, can't you let me have a little peace and quiet?"
Lei'li: I propose we all go back to our places and carry on with our jobs. The Mine has to keep functioning even with the Refinery Tower offline.
Lei'li: He'll show once he gets his rest.
Icon Dialogue Talk Are there any clues now?
Huayu: Clues... The miners said they saw Uncle Hong around the transport lorries. We are sending more people to check if he's still there.
Icon Dialogue Talk Let me be of some help.
Huayu: More people mean greater possibility. Thank you.

Investigate clues near the transport vehicle(0/3)

(Go the the designated area)
(Investigate)
A scrunched paper that reads: "The Mine is getting so cold even though it's summer... Miss you, mum."
(Investigate)
A pop magazine with five screaming young girls on the cover. Caption goes "Let's get lost together!"
(Investigate)
A journal with no name specified on title page. The cover is made of cut newspaper.

Head back and report the clues

(Talk to Huayu)
Huayu: Where could Uncle Hong be? (Rover), you're back.
Icon Dialogue Talk Only you stayed?
Huayu: Sigh. Running around without an aim only brings more trouble to the Mine.
Huayu: Though the Refinery Tower is offline, most of our production is still running as usual.
Huayu: To keep the rest of the mine's operations running, Lei'li, Modee, and the others had to return to their posts.
Huayu: However, the Refinery Tower's issue must be addressed.
Huayu: Did you find anything around the transport lorries?
Icon Dialogue Talk A paper.
Huayu: Maybe written by the miners. Though the Tiger's Maw Mine is not far from Jinzhou, they are constantly kept from going home due to the work.
Huayu: People who visit me out of sickness often talk about the pancakes their mothers make.
(Return to the previous dialogue)
Icon Dialogue Talk A magazine.
Huayu: Seems like a book popular with miners. It is only things like this that give life to the Tiger's Maw Mine, where there is nothing but buzzing machines.
Huayu: However, I don't think Uncle Hong can be a fan of rock and roll, given his poor hearing.
(Return to the previous dialogue)
Icon Dialogue Talk A journal.
Huayu: A cover made of newspaper. I think I've seen this somewhere.
Huayu: If I'm not wrong, this is Uncle Hong's journal. He always has it with him.
Huayu: This helps me make sense of things.
Huayu: As he gets older, Uncle Hong's memory has started to slip. He's starting to forget things.
Huayu: It's like a rubber that keeps erasing his past.
Huayu: He once asked me if I knew how to slow down his memory loss, so I told him two simple tricks to try.
Huayu: One was using keywords, and the other was keeping a journal.
Huayu: The keywords help him get the general idea, while the journal keeps him on track, step by step.
Icon Dialogue Talk Can there be clues about Uncle Hong in the journal?
Huayu: Possible. If Uncle Hong follows my advice, he may be recording the important pieces of his days.
Icon Dialogue Talk Can there be clues about the Refinery Tower in the journal?
Huayu: Possible. If Uncle Hong is recording the important pieces of his days, he must have said something about the Refinery Tower. Let's read it.
Icon Dialogue Talk Lost items are important traces of their original owners.
Huayu: If that's the case, something must be here that can help us fix the Refinery Tower. Let's read it.
Huayu and you read the journal.
Huayu: "Back at Jinzhou today with the transport truck. Everyone I met said I grew old and mean. So I looked in the mirror and found that few of my leaves are there..."
Huayu: "Heavy rain today. Everyone got off work early. I don't know when this started but I grew more and more scared of the dark. Nights are getting long and dull..."
Huayu: You can tell from the journal that Uncle Hong's condition seems to be getting worse...
Icon Dialogue Talk Is that how the world feels to an old man?
Huayu: Maybe. You can sense that your functions are in recession, and that you are getting older. Let's keep on reading.
Huayu: "The issue detection and reboot of the Refinery Tower..."
Icon Dialogue Talk Found it.
Huayu: Right. The picture and the text are both consistent with the real Refinery Tower.
Huayu: If we follow the instructions in the journal, we might be able to fix the issue, but our manpower is stretched thin.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'll handle the Refinery Tower.
Huayu: Really? We're short on people right now, so it'd be a huge help if you're willing to lend a hand! Though, I know you're still getting familiar with the Mine...
Huayu: So I've got someone to help you out. He'll be waiting for you by the elevator.
Huayu: In the meantime I'll try my best to find Uncle Hong. Thank you again for helping us to fix the Refinery Tower.

Head to the elevator

(Approach designated location)

Talk to Huaxi

(Talk to Huaxi)
Huaxi: Hey, are you (Rover)? My brother told me everything about you.
Icon Dialogue Talk Huh? Didn't expect you to be so young.
Huaxi: Huh? Don't look down on me! I know this Mine better than anyone!
Huaxi: Before we go, let's talk about my compensation, (term for male Rover)/lady
Icon Dialogue Talk How much do you want?
Huaxi: That's why I always find you grown-ups cynical. I don't want money. Hm... Can you tell stories?
Icon Dialogue Talk Greedy little boy. I'll tell your brother.
Huaxi: Please, let me finish. I don't want money. Can you tell stories?
Huaxi: All the grown-ups in the Mine are great storytellers. I like them. And they say, there are more stories that are more interesting from afar.
Huaxi: I'm collecting stories now, so you should pay me with a story.
Icon Dialogue Talk I don't have one yet.
Huaxi: Then pay me later. One day I'll leave here and travel to the farthest town. I hope I'll be able to tell a decent story to everyone when I'm back.
Huaxi: Dad always teaches me and brother to say things out loud.
Huaxi: If you have an interesting story, you must tell it to me. Let's go.

Call the elevator

(Interact with the device to call the elevator)

Wait for the elevator

(Wait for the elevator to arrive at current floor)

Take the elevator down to the ground level

(Interact with the device to the ground level)
(Upon arriving at the ground level)
Rover: The graph here says: "The reboot of the Refinery Tower takes a certain amount of time. First, secure a sufficient power supply during the rebooting..."
Huaxi: Stop, stop. English, please. Whatever, something about power supply, right? I know who to turn to. Follow me.

Follow Huaxi

(Approach Huaxi)
Lei'li: These lazy new guys. I told them to hand in the work log before their shifts ended.
Lei'li: Pft, in one ear and out the other. Now who's going to clean up the mess if there's an accident?
Icon Dialogue Talk A familiar figure.
Icon Dialogue Talk A familiar voice.
Lei'li: Oh, (Rover). What brings you here? And Huaxi?
Lei'li: Did Doctor Hua send you as peacemakers? Did he find out about my fight with Modee?
Huaxi: What are you talking about, Uncle Lei'li? My brother asked me to work with (Rover) to reboot the Refinery Tower.
Lei'li: Refinery Tower reboot? So you found Uncle Hong?
You tell Lei'li about the journal and Uncle Hong's memories.
Lei'li: Ah, so that's what's going on. Uncle Hong is always so sharp and on top of things. It's hard to imagine him being anything less.
Lei'li: I work alongside him all the time, and I never noticed. Alright, what do you need help with?
Icon Dialogue Talk About the power supply of the Mine.
Huaxi: Yes, rebooting the Refinery Tower requires sufficient power. Uncle Lei'li, you know the best about the power equipment. What's your advice?
Lei'li: Well, it's not as hard as you might imagine. We have a double circuit power system at the bottom of the Mine. Either one can sustain its normal functioning.
Lei'li: However, the two circuits can't run in parallel. If we force them, it could cause the breakers around the Mine to trip.
Lei'li: What we can do is bring in extra external power and shut down some internal systems to focus the energy on the Refinery Tower.
Lei'li: Alright, I'll handle shutting down the systems. The backup mobile power sources are there at the base.
Lei'li: You'll need to install them at the Refinery Tower. I'll let you know when everything's ready, okay?
Icon Dialogue Talk Can you tell me about that fight you mentioned?
Lei'li: Ugh, it's nothing big. Modee and I argue all the time. I'm used to it.
Lei'li: I just can't stand his attitude. Everything he does, it's all some fantasy in his head.
Lei'li: He's always going around the Mine, bragging about his grand philosophy of coexisting with Tacet Discords.
Lei'li: He says it's a key evolutionary skill to coexist with new life forms, that we should consider developing alongside Tacet Discords.
Lei'li: He can think about it all he wants, but just thinking won't get us anywhere. Honestly, he's just a dreamer, locked up in his ivory tower, completely out of touch with reality.
Lei'li: Every time I say something, he gets all worked up.
Lei'li: Forget it. Just talking about it is making my blood boil. Let's focus on the Refinery Tower.

Install the external mobile power source(0/2)

(Use Levitator the install the two power source)
(Receive call from Lei'li after all power source are installed)
Lei'li: (Rover), is the additional power set up?
Rover: Yes. All ready and set. What about your part?
Lei'li: Just one more step. the shutdown switches come in pairs, so I need you to turn off the other one at the same time.

Turn off the switch at the same time

(Receive call from Lei'li after interacting with the device to turn the switch off)
Lei'li: Are you there? Okay, then let's do this. Remember, we need to sync up our timing.
Lei'li: I'll count three. You'll count two, then we'll count one together.
Lei'li: Ready? I'll starting [sic] counting. Three...
Huaxi: ...Two
Icon Dialogue Talk ...One

Some peripheral facilities have been shut down, and the power supply of the Refinery Tower has been switched to the external circuit.

(Receive call from Lei'li)
Lei'li: It's working. Th device are being shut down. The power supply for the Refinery Tower should be sufficient now.
Lei'li: Thanks for your help. If everything's good here, I'll get back to my duties.
Lei'li: Got a whole lot of things to do. Please carry on with the good work with the Refinery Tower.

Huaxi discovered a new clue

(Approach Huaxi)
Huaxi: ...Hm, so it is...
Icon Dialogue Talk What, are you reading earlier journal entries?
Icon Dialogue Talk You shouldn't read someone's journal without permission.
Huaxi: I'm not snooping! I just thought of a really smart way to find Grandpa Hong.
Huaxi: I read a story once about a detective who didn't talk much, and his friend, a doctor, helped him solve all sorts of mysteries.
Huaxi: The detective would sometimes look at the bad guy's past to find clues.
Huaxi: After all, a person's past usually tells you why they do things now!
Huaxi: That's why I think though focusing on today's entry is definitely the right direction, earlier entries are still important resources.
Icon Dialogue Talk Makes a lot of sense.
Icon Dialogue Talk You are reliable, aren't you.
Huaxi: Hee hee. Now you know!
Huaxi: Most of his entries are pretty short. He just sums up his day and how he felt in a few sentences.
Huaxi: But I did find some longer, more detailed entries. I think they're important, like this one.
Uncle Hong's Diary I

The room was filled with clocks. I listened to the hands slowly ticking in the darkness. I opened my eyes, but there was nothing here, only the primitive darkness. I quickly got up and picked up a pen to recorded everything, the dream, yes, it was a dream. This time, I finally caught it and recorded it clearly. I do not possess the talent of a bard, not do I have the fascinating legends of a traveler. I am simply an ordinary storyteller, combining the dream that troubles me with words. It all begins from the long winter season. The old captain at the harbor always had the same opening lines before setting sail, as a way to welcome the newly recruited young sailors. "The ocean is always unknown to humanity. Although humans have grasped the helm of progress time and time again with wisdom and bravery, the ocean will never bow down to humanity... Countless disasters have befallen those ambitious individuals who venture into the ocean, and tragedy continues to unfold." The old captain uttered each word with a dull tone, but it didn't matter, The sailors, excited for the upcoming voyage, simply applauded and cheered, without paying much attention wot the words. The ship slowly left the shore, and the young sailors felt nauseous from the rough voyage, with constant vomiting slowly draining their enthusiasm. A huge creature leaped out of the ocean, causing the young sailors to hide in the cabin, while the captain and the old sailors stood calmly on the deck. "I will forgive your timidity this time, as it is your first encounter with it. Please remember its appearance. We call it the ancient whale. It is the disaster caused by the ocean, mysterious and immensely powerful. It is the embodiment of demons of nature. Of course, when dealing with such unknown creature, humans will not succumb. This is the first lesson of your voyage..." Intermittent gunfire broke out on the sea surface, and more and more sailors joined the one-sided attack. Continuously pulling the trigger made them gradually get [sic] their fear and also the reason why they were attacking the giant creature in front of them, which had not harmed them. Under the smoke, the ship slowly moved forward along the blood-red trail...

Huaxi: What's your take? Doesn't this story feel weird?
Icon Dialogue Talk Leaves you panting for more.
Huaxi: I feel the same. Plus, the lower half of the page is left blank.
Icon Dialogue Talk Feels like an incomplete story.
Huaxi: True. It's like the story doesn't really go anywhere, and the rest of the page is just blank.
Huaxi: Either way, this story feels like it's only half done.
Icon Dialogue Talk Only Uncle Hong knows.
Huaxi: You know, it starts by saying it's a dream being recorded. Could that be why it feels this way?
Icon Dialogue Talk Only Uncle Hong knows.
Huaxi: Right. Let's move on to the next step of the instructions.

Take the elevator up to the middle floor

(Interact with the device on the elevator to go to the middle floor)

Head to the next marked location

(Approach designated location)
Huaxi: The graph indicates that we have to reconfigure the Refinery Tower with the console.
Huaxi: Let's find someone to talk to first.

Inquire the researcher about the situation

(Approach Dizzy Researcher)

Talk to the researcher

(Talk to Dizzy Researcher)
Dizzy Researcher: Hydrogen plus oxygen equals hydrogen oxide...
Dizzy Researcher: ...And which beaker did I put the product in again? Aw, gotta run the reaction over.
Huaxi: What is she mumbling about to herself.
Icon Dialogue Talk She seems to be asleep standing.
Huaxi: Ha? That's amazing. Then we should leave her be. Let's go quietly.
Icon Dialogue Talk She's having a nightmare.
Huaxi: Ha? Nightmares are horrible. We should help her.
Dizzy Researcher: *Yawn... Hm? Why am I here? Wasn't I running an experiment just now?
Dizzy Researcher: How did I fall asleep while standing...?
Icon Dialogue Talk So she's awake now.
Huaxi: Hmph. So adults act just as silly when they wake up too. Big brother totally tricked me.
Dizzy Researcher: A young man/lady in black, and a... kid? Who are... Am I still in a dream?
Icon Dialogue Talk You can pinch someone to check.
Dizzy Researcher: Aw! That hurts!
Dizzy Researcher: Wait, the pain feels so real, so I'm not dreaming... I remember!
Icon Dialogue Talk You're waiting for a train...
Dizzy Researcher: A train that will take you far away... Hey, who put this in my mouth?
Dizzy Researcher: What train? Oh, I remember.
Dizzy Researcher: Because the Refinery Tower is offline, the experiment has to stop, so I've come here to refresh myself.
Dizzy Researcher: But I guess I fell asleep. Must've been too exhausted from conducting experiments all night.
Dizzy Researcher: So this isn't a dream, huh? Then you guys are...
Huaxi and you tell the drowsy researcher what happened.
Dizzy Researcher: I didn't expect so many things to go wrong while I was stuck in the lab!
Dizzy Researcher: Oh, and if you need a console, there's one just outside the Academy.
Dizzy Researcher: Well, I've rested enough. Time for me to get back to work. Good luck!

Activate console

(Solve the Signals Console puzzle)
Console: <<<Initializing system
Huaxi: Big brother/sister, is this what we should do?
Console: <<<System initialized. Verification required...
Huaxi: A verification is required...
Icon Dialogue Talk Let's see if the journal has any hints.
Uncle Hong's Diary II

I sat in one corner of the square table, and piles of research materials were pushed in front of me by him. He was clearly talking incessantly with his mouth wide open, but all I heard were fragmented words and phrases... the Mine, survival, balance... These words appeared one by one from beneath my pen without any connection. Yes, we were arguing. After pushing the materials aside, I forcefully hammered the table, releasing all the pent-up anger accumulated over the days.

Huaxi: The entry is mostly about an argument with a researcher. No information about a passcode.
Huaxi: If nothing else works, maybe we'll just have to try guessing.
???: You'd better hold off on that. If you fail the verification too many times, the console will lock, and the system will shut down automatically.
???: If that happens, we'll only waste more time in the rebooting.

The voice becomes even closer to you. It finally moves to the front of you.

Modee: Just follow the steps to unlock the console and everything should go smoothly. Good to see you again, (Rover).
Modee: I heard from a co-worker about what you're up to, and I thought you might find difficulties in passing the verification, so I came.
Modee: Looks like I'm right on time.
Icon Dialogue Talk Right on time!
Huaxi: You, you... Aren't you that researcher who was fighting with Grandpa Hong, in the journal?
Modee: A fight? The journal? Haha, may I see the journal myself?
Modee takes the journal and starts reading.
Modee: This feels like what would happen between me and Lei'li, but that researcher isn't me.
Modee: Uncle Hong is like a mentor to me, so I would never have an argument like that with him.
Modee: In fact, I have always respected him because he taught me an important lesson.
Modee: In science, it's not just about cold, hard numbers. There's also room for imagination.
Modee:Like when we come across infinity in our research. To some scholars, that infinity symbol might look like radio waves moving through space.
Modee: It was even shown in an Jinzhou sci-fi play not long ago, symbolizing a twist in the dimensions of life.
Icon Dialogue Talk What play?
Modee: Haha. It's just an example that just crossed my mind. You can have a look yourself at the Jinzhou Theater yourself if you're interested.
Modee: The play was about a catastrophe. Humanity had to send their home planet on a journey through space. It used the symbol to hint at the connection between digital life and reality.
Modee: A single symbol can be used in different ways to create colorful worlds. Might be a bit hard to grasp now, though.
Modee: But so many truths come from these wild, imaginative ideas. Just thinking about it gets me all fired up.
Modee: But Lei'li? He just responds with "That's all nonsense" and completely ignores anything that seems unlikely.
Icon Dialogue Talk The question about the coexistence with TD?
Modee: So you've heard about it? Yes. Even if the probability is as small as 0.0001%, it still makes sense to me.
Icon Dialogue Talk Is this what you call a researcher's sensitivity to digits?
Icon Dialogue Talk Is this what you call a researcher's obstinacy?
Modee: Hahaha, you do know a lot, (Rover). Now let's get on with the issue with the Refinery Tower.
Modee: The console's verification is done by line drawing. When you start the verification process, random images will be generated on a grid.
Modee: You have to put your hand on the grid, and the system will draw a line to connect the coordinates you touch. Repeated coordinates will not be recorded.
Modee: Only when the order and the direction of the line you draw is right, the verification is passed. All right, let's have a try.

Verify through the external Terminal

(Solve the Signals Console puzzle)

Talk to Modi

(Talk to Modee, "Then?")
Modee: Now you have mastered it. Now just put in the parameters as per the digits shown in the graph.
Huaxi: So complicated... We would screw up if Uncle Modee wasn't here to help.
Modee: Just a small move. When the parameter reset is successful, the system will adjust the Refinery Tower and it'll reboot automatically.
Modee: Now the reboot can take some time. All we need is wait. Thank you for your effort.
Huaxi: We don't have any information about Grandpa Hong's whereabouts, though.
Icon Dialogue Talk Why don't we read more of the journal now?
Huaxi: Hm... I did find a pattern in the previous entries. Though the events are various...
Huaxi: ...They all happen at a few limited places.
Huaxi: For example, Grandpa Hong often visits my brother's clinic: "Went to the clinic today and had a routine examination as per Doctor Huayu's instructions."
Huaxi: "Went to the clinic today. The medication is getting so bitter. Lucky Doctor Huayu didn't find out I hid candy in my palm."
Huaxi: Also, Grandpa Hong's always telling the lorry drivers in the transport area to pick up the supplies the Mine needs.
Huaxi: Their conversations are also kept here.
Modee: It's like the routes are already set, and Hong just keeps walking them over and over.
Modee: So, if his memory's off, would he still end up at these places in the journal just out of habit?
Icon Dialogue Talk Possible indeed.
Modee: But these spots are spread all over the site. Finding him would take a lot of manpower we don't have.
Icon Dialogue Talk Give me a map of the Mine.
Huaxi: Have you come up with something, (Rover)?
Modee: I have one at the Mine's institute. Just a few moments. Meet me at the gate in a while.

A few moments later...

Modee: You're here. (Rover), this is the map you asked for.
Icon Dialogue Talk Mark the places in the journal on the map.
You quickly mark the places mentioned in the journal on the map.
Huaxi: For an old man, he sure gets around! But looks like it's mostly just three different areas.
Icon Dialogue Talk Draw a circle with each of these regions as the center.
Modee: Ah yes! A triangulation approach.
Modee: By drawing three circles with the regions as centers, the overlapping area is where Hong is most likely to be.
Modee: That really narrows things down. Great idea!
Icon Dialogue Talk That's right.
Icon Dialogue Talk Just a little titbit from the Rover.
Huaxi: No idea what you two are talking about, but you sure sound smart. You're pretty cool, (Rover)!
Huaxi: The overlapping area is a small corner in the upper living quarter. Let's go take a look!
Modee: Oh, by the way, you can hand me the samples now, (Rover). When the reboot is finished, we will start the procedures.
Modee: However, it can't be done today, as the reboot can take some time.

Take the elevator up to the upper floor

(Talk to Modee, optional)
Modee: The fights with Lei'li is [sic] making me sleepless. I always enjoy looking at the sky with my back lying on the grass when I can't sleep.
Modee: Look at the stars. When will we touch them?
Modee: Now, if we can push science to progress forward, one small step at a time, generation after generation, maybe one day...
(Interact with the device to go to the upper floor)

Head to the intersection area marked on the map

(Upon approaching the designated area)
Bistro Owner: Bye, Uncle Hong. Take care when you go back, eh?
Uncle Hong: Okay, okay. Tastes just like the old days, but I just can't help feeling empty.
Uncle Hong: What was I going to do?
Huaxi: Look, (Rover). That's Grandpa Hong.
Huaxi: We finally found you, Grandpa Hong. Everyone's been looking for you.
Uncle Hong: You are... Huaxi. Why look for me?
Huaxi: Great. Grandpa Hong remembers me.
Bistro Owner: What are you talking about? I think you lost me.
Huaxi and you tell the boss what happened in a low voice.
Bistro Owner: Ah, that's why. I thought Uncle Hong came here after the maintenance work of the Refinery Tower, as usual.
Bistro Owner: Let me tell you, my cooking skills were passed down from my grandfather's generation.
Bistro Owner: Back then, every time Uncle Hong finished work, he'd come here for a warm bowl of Jinzhou Stew.
Bistro Owner: My grandfather always said that food shortens the distance from home, and also brings people closer together.
Bistro Owner: Jinzhou Stew isn't just a simple dish. It's a bond that connects people.
Bistro Owner: And for Uncle Hong, it's probably even more meaningful, since the people sitting with him here have changed since his day.
Bistro Owner: He's the only one left.
Huaxi: Eating along always feels a bit lonely. No wonder Grandpa Hong seems so down.
Icon Dialogue Talk Let's return the journal first.
Uncle Hong takes the journal. Despite initial resistance, he begins to flip through the pages eagerly.
Uncle Hong: Journal. That's it. I feel much [sic] settled now.
Huaxi: Grandpa Hong...
Icon Dialogue Talk Maybe we shouldn't ask too much now.
Huaxi: Right. Grandpa Hong, we found your lost journal, and fixed the reboot issue of the Refinery Tower.
Huaxi: Anyway, the guest from the Ministry is here with the samples like they promised. That's this lady beside me.
Icon Dialogue Talk Do you have any recollection of that?
Uncle Hong: Yes... I do. Everything feels familiar again with the presence of this journal. I'm sorry for the fuss.
Huaxi: Grandpa Hong still looks a bit strange. Let's take him to my brother.
Huaxi: It's kind of late now, (Rover). Like Uncle Modee said, the samples can't be

tested as of now. Why don't you come here another day?

Return to the Ministry of Development

(Approach designated location)

Talk to Xiaoyu

(Talk to Xiaoyu)
Xiaoyu: You're back, (Rover). Everything well?

You tell Xiaoyu what happened back at the Mine.

Xiaoyu: Sounds like a lot of twists and turns. I guess we'll have to collect the samples another day.
Xiaoyu: So they've been arguing about whether to coexist with the Tacet Discords... I see they did treat you as a member of the Ministry.
Xiaoyu: Now they've accidentally let you in on the Mine's secret.
Icon Dialogue Talk What secret?
Xiaoyu: There was a Tacet Discord crisis there years ago... Hold on, I'm getting a message.
Xiaoyu: Ugh, some follow-up work to do regarding the meeting just now. I wanted to chat to you a little longer.
Xiaoyu: Maybe next time. Take this, it's the reward from the Ministry. I'll see you.
