Haven't you heard? There was this white-haired merchant with this fancy new ship. Custom-built luxury job. Twin engines, wind-resistant, the whole "unsinkable" deal. First voyage near Rinascita? Boom. A giant whale comes out of nowhere and launches the thing into orbit.

Rumor has it that whale still won't come to the bargaining table. And since insurance won't touch international waters, the poor guy almost lost his shirt.
