The Maiden, The Defier, The Death Crier is the Fourth Act in Chapter II of the Main Quest.
Summary[]
Meeting Ciaccona[]
As Rover contemplates how to locate the Inverted Tower referenced by Imperator, Abby proposes an aerial approach, suggesting the cliff near Egla Town as a suitable launch point.
Along the way, Rover encounters Ciaccona, a wandering bard dispatched by Carlotta to assist in the journey. Possessing the Resonance Ability to recreate past experiences, Ciaccona enables Rover to relive the encounter with Cartethyia, the Blessed Maiden who was supposedly martyred during the Second Dark Tide. During the retelling, Rover is unexpectedly drawn into an unfamiliar realm generated by Ciaccona’s Resonance Ability. While under the effect of this ability, Rover perceives the past meeting with Cartethyia from a shifted perspective. Unexpectedly, the real Cartethyia also appears within the memory. During their exchange, she discloses that much of her memory has been lost and that she remains uncertain about the true nature of her own Resonance - if she is the Resonator of the Threnodian or that of the Sentinel.
Despite her uncertainty, Cartethyia’s remarks provide valuable clues. The Sonoro Sphere—where her physical form is currently held—may in fact be the Inverted Tower once mentioned by the Sentinel. She also references a mysterious individual who has repeatedly attempted to enter the Sonoro, only to be repelled by its barrier. Identifying this figure may yield further insights. She describes the figure being similar to that of a "jellyfish".
Ciaccona eventually brings Rover out of the vision in a panic. Her reaction implies that the experience may not have been entirely the result of her Resonance Ability.
As Rover begins to evaluate the next course of action, a butler from the Fisalia Family arrives with an invitation to meet the family’s matriarch. Rather than accept immediately, Rover chooses to investigate further. Ciaccona shares a number of dark and intriguing rumors surrounding the matriarch, some of which align with Cartethyia’s description of the elusive figure outside the Sonoro. Regardless of the matriarch’s intentions, the invitation represents a potential turning point. With that in mind, Rover bids farewell to Ciaccona and sets off toward the Fisalia estate.
Cantarella and the Sentinel[]
The current head of the Fisalia family introduces herself as Cantarella. Appearing well-prepared for Rover’s arrival, she invites them into her study for a private discussion, offering tea she had acquired from Jinzhou as an apology for Rover's previous entanglements with the Fisalias.
Drawing on prior information provided by Gilberto, Rover questions Cantarella regarding the Fisalia family's rumoured allegiance to the Threnodian. In response, Cantarella reveals a more unsettling reality: the Threnodian Leviathan is not merely a distant threat, but a force of assimilation—an entity that consumes entire civilizations through the spread of a spiritual plague via faith. According to her, the invasion of Ragunna is no longer a looming danger, but an event that has already concluded. The current state of peace, she claims, is a fragile illusion, one that conceals a descent into catastrophe.
Positioning herself as a reluctant bearer of truth, Cantarella offers further evidence to support her assertions. She leads Rover to a secret room in Porto-Veno Castle containing an statue of Imperator - which is noticeably different from the ones in Ragunna. She then presents Rover with revelations regarding the true nature of Sentinel Imperator and the origins of its current form.
The Sentinel Imperator has been corrupted and has merged with the Threnodian, Leviathan. A once a noble airborne steed, now exists as a hybrid hippocamp-like entity—half-horse, half-sea creature—worshipped by the Order of the Deep. This transformation, she explains, was not divine, but the result of assimilation inflicted by the Threnodian due to its weakened state. In an attempt to resist this influence, the Sentinel used its power of spatial manipulation to imbue the Sword of Divinity—Tyrvine—with a fragment of its essence. The sword was intended to choose a Resonator known as the Blessed Maiden, should the Sentinel fall or disappear.
For generations, the Fisalia family conducted trials to identify this Blessed Maiden, one capable of resonating with Tyrvine through Overclocking similar to Jinhsi's Second Resonance Awakening in Mt. Firmament. However, after her own unsuccessful attempt, Cantarella discovered a chilling message: "The Maiden is dead."
Following this revelation, Cantarella requests Rover’s assistance in convincing Jué, the Sentinel of Jinzhou, to help rescue Imperator, who she claims remains trapped. Rover reluctantly declines the proposal due to the recent events of Act VII: Thaw of Eons but resolves to independently verify her claims before taking any action.
After confirming that Tyrvine had indeed been left behind by the Imperator through their special access as an Arbiter, Rover shares their knowledge of Cartethyia. Based on this new information and recent events, Cantarella quickly connects the details. She reveals herself as the wandering figure who had attempted to breach the barrier surrounding the Sonoro Sphere—the same figure Cartethyia had mentioned. Cantarella and Rover travel to Beohr Waters, eventually leading to the ruins of Avinoleum. During the trip, Cantarella reveals that there is some truth to the rumors but refutes that she has never been a recluse. She has been travelling all around Solaris-3 to find ways to aid Imperator. She hears of Rover's heroic deeds from a "friend" in Mingting. When Rover tries to pry more information on the so-called "friend", Cantarella simply states: "All the affairs of Huanglong's states eventually land in one person's hands. Would you care to take a guess at the identity of this friend of mine?"
Arriving in Avinoleum[]
Rover and Cantarella arrive in Avinoleum, the largest seminary built by the Order of the Deep and the previous origin of the Second Dark Tide. Using Tyrvine as a key, Rover and Cantarella enter the Sonoro Sphere by breaking its barrier. Cartethyia approaches them and states that has been awaiting for their arrival.
Upon the sword’s entrance into the Sphere, Cartethyia experiences a sudden recollection of information previously lost. She recalls that the seal surrounding the Inverted Tower can be broken by placing three unique swords - Tyrvine (the sword of Divinity, containing Imperator's frequency), Hognis (the sword of Discord, containing Leviathan's frequency), and Haultir (the sword of Virtue, Cartethyia's personal sword) upon their respective pedestals around Avinoleum. Whether this knowledge originates from the Sentinel or is a manipulation orchestrated by the Threnodian remains uncertain. The only path forward is to proceed and uncover the truth.
As the group is lifted into the air, the full form of the Inverted Tower becomes visible, its central spire marked by three distinct seals. With Cartethyia’s guidance, Rover is able to navigate the disorienting gravitational shifts that pervade the area. Within the Sonoro Sphere of Avinoleum, the residual destructive properties of the Dark Tide are significantly restrained. The region’s inverted gravity prevents the phenomenon from descending into Rinascita, thereby also halting the fall of Tacet Discords and the ruins of the Order of the Deep seminary. This gravitational inversion not only impedes further collapse but alters the Tide’s essence, rendering its waters unnaturally calm—navigable by gondola throughout the Sonoro Sphere. Despite this stabilization, remnants of the Dark Tide still manifest sporadically, often taking the form of rampant purple-hued vines and flowers that propagate across the Avinoleum landscape.
Once Tyrvine is placed upon its designated pedestal, Rover is overwhelmed by visions from Cartethyia’s past—memories of her coronation as the Blessed Maiden in Avinoleum and the sudden emergence of the second Dark Tide immediately thereafter.
In contrast, Cantarella reports experiencing an entirely different vision, suggesting that the pedestal's resonance may reflect individual perspectives. From the pedestal, a residual energy is expelled and enters Rover's Tacet Mark. Abby appears and states that it detects traces of the Imperator’s frequencies embedded within the Tacet Mark. This unexpected discovery causes Cartethyia to question her own identity with growing unease. To ensure the safety of all involved, the group chooses to rest before proceeding further.
Upon placing Hognis at the second pedestal, another wave of memories surfaces—this time depicting Cartethyia’s determined resistance against the Threnodian during the aftermath of the Dark Tide. A long-standing mystery is resolved: Cartethyia has consistently acted in defense of humanity, taking up arms against the hybrid Imperator-Leviathan that had coronated her as the Blessed Maiden. Confronted by the truth, she begins to release the emotions she had long restrained.
However, new uncertainties begin to take shape. The Threnodian frequencies embedded within Rover’s Tacet Mark continue to glow. The origin of these signals remains unclear. Were they split by the Sentinel, or were they placed there by the Threnodian itself? The answers may only be revealed once the final sword is positioned. They both decide to rest again for the meantime.
Roused in the middle of the night, Rover finds Cartethyia singing to the Reverberations of the dragons that once lived in the Zargon Garden of Avinoleum. She explains that it is a song of farewell for the people of Rinascita, though she is unsure whether they can still hear her. She shares the moment with Rover, who remarks that the Reverberations remember her—and that, in singing, she has truly said her goodbyes. She ponders on these Reverberations, with the phrase: "Bound by obsession, till relieved of duty."
Rover and Cartethyia sleep on each other's shoulders and awaken in the garden that lies before the Inverted Tower. The final confrontation awaits.
The Maiden, The Defier, The Death Crier[]
After placing Haultir on its pedestal, Rover experiences a vision in which the Threnodian unveils a startling revelation: Cartethyia was created by Leviathan—an entity designed to be “whole” and “perfect.” The reverence of the people served as sustenance for the Threnodian, and it was Cartethyia’s Resonance that ultimately triggered the second Dark Tide.
The Cartethyia now present recalls everything. Although the Sentinel’s corrupted form was destroyed long ago, the Threnodian’s essence endured, residing within its vessel—Fleurdelys.
Cartethyia explains that although it was not her original intent, entrusting the final steps of this journey to Rover may now be the most appropriate course of action. She speaks of her crown, noting that it transformed following the emergence of the second Dark Tide. Once a symbol of unity, the crown was repurposed by the Threnodian to exert control over Its chosen Resonator.
When the corrupted Sentinel was destroyed, Cartethyia initiated a division of her own consciousness. The version standing before Rover is the portion that sought to resist the Threnodian’s corruption and preserve life. In contrast, the other half—imbued with greater power—remained behind and became Fleurdelys, a vessel into which the Threnodian began to assimilate.
Cartethyia reveals that Fleurdelys, bound by her role and slowly eroded by the Threnodian's constant influence, began fragmenting her own resonance in a desperate attempt to buy time. These split frequencies, however, required a vessel—one that ultimately became Rover. Pressed for time, Cartethyia states that this entire path has been a search for someone capable of inheriting and resisting the power originally bestowed by the false Divinity. Her intention is to pass on all remnants—whether given, taken, or corrupted—so that the Threnodian can be permanently sealed away, not just in form but in essence.
Behind the final seal lies Fleurdelys, still bearing the Threnodian within her. She is both a remnant of Cartethyia and a host to the entity itself—bound by duty until it is fulfilled. With the culmination of her journey approaching, Cartethyia expresses a quiet acceptance that the part of her which chose to live will now fade.
At the origin point of the second Dark Tide, Cartethyia makes one final request of Rover. Now that Rover possesses the ability to split and merge energies, a unique task falls solely to them. Cartethyia asks that they use the lingering resonance she shares with Fleurdelys to draw the remaining fragments of her fractured consciousness into the Fleurdelys. Her intent is clear: by fusing their divided selves into a single entity, they can become the vessel that will permanently contain the Threnodian and the Rover could give them release from this world. In doing so, the entity would be imprisoned in a powerless, lifeless form—forever severed from the world.
Rover questions the cost of this action, noting that it would also mean the end of the Cartethyia who chose to resist and live. She responds with quiet resolution. Her purpose, she claims, has already been fulfilled. The time has come for Fleurdelys—the part of her that remains trapped in despair—to find release. Cartethyia explains that Fleurdelys seeks only the end: an escape from her suffering and the destruction of the false Divinity entwined with her. Though she has lost all hope for salvation, Cartethyia believes that their reunion may be the only path to granting both of their wishes.
She acknowledges the irony of her existence—that she was created by the Threnodian to be a threat, a puppet of corruption. And yet, in the end, that same vessel will become the very thing that seals the Leviathan’s fate. Through this act, she believes she will finally become whole—true to herself for the first time.
Having reached what she believes to be her final destination, Cartethyia bids farewell with a sense of poetic finality. Rover accepts her request, expressing understanding. Moments later, a cutscene begins. Abby intervenes, its voice strained, suggesting that it can no longer hold back. The scene escalates as Cartethyia reacts with shock and desperation.
But Rover’s response deviates from the plan. They acknowledges Cartethyia’s request.
Then calmly, they state: “But I prefer to handle this my way.” Leaving Cartethyia before she can even follow them to reach Fleurdelys.
The "True" Blessed Maiden[]
At that moment, Cantarella approaches, holding the now-restored Tyrvine. Within the blade reside fragments of the Sentinel’s power—residual echoes of failed resonances from previous Maiden candidates from the Fisalia Family. Cantarella explains that every candidate for the Blessed Maiden was once required to resonate with the Sentinel through Tyrvine. Those who survived the process retained fragments of understanding, but lost pieces of their memory in return. These lost memories scattered across the Sonoro Sphere, retaining traces of the Sentinel’s power. Tyrvine absorbed these residual energies, becoming a conduit for the Sentinel’s Resonance.
Cantarella then reaffirms a bitter truth: “The real Blessed Maiden is dead.”
She was the "true" Blessed Maiden of Imperator but had sacrificed her Second Resonance Awakening and surrendered it to the Sentinel during the Second Dark Tide during Cartethyia's coronation. With its powers temporarily restored, Imperator had gained its consciousness once again and compelled Cartethyia to stand with the side of humanity during the Second Dark Tide, culling the hybrid Imperator-Leviathan, eventually sealing Dark Tide in Avinoleum alongside the Fleurdelys' sacrifice. It was through the young Cantarella and the Fleurdelys that the Second Dark Tide was thwarted.
Through this, Cantarella concludes, the original Blessed Maiden perished. Yet she suggests that the concept of a “true” Maiden is not defined by prophecy or artifact, but by action and resolve. In her eyes, Cartethyia—once considered a “false” Maiden—has the right to define her own path and identity.
And now, with Tyrvine restored and fate uncertain, Cantarella poses a question to the distraught Cartethyia: "The real Blessed Maiden is dead. But there is no reason why the 'false' Blessed Maiden cannot herself become the 'true' Blessed Maiden, is there?"
Come to Me, Mighty Godkiller[]
Utilizing the Sentinel’s ability to separate space, Rover formulates a plan to sever the Threnodian Leviathan’s essence from its host vessel, Fleurdelys. Although Abby expresses concern about the plan's risks, it proceeds alongside them. The confrontation with Fleurdelys begins. Now in the brink of the Leviathan’s influence, she taunts Rover and his allies, calling out, “Come to me, Mighty Godkiller.”
During the battle, Rover is eventually overpowered and becomes ensnared by one of Fleurdelys’ abilities, rendering him trapped. As she prepares to deliver a final blow, Cartethyia intervenes, wielding the empowered Tyrvine. The impact of her interference throws her off balance, but she attempts to break through the barrier imprisoning Rover. In doing so, she Overclocks—seemingly attempting to trigger a Second Resonance Awakening. However, the force of her Resonance overwhelms her. Tyrvine shatters under the strain, and Cartethyia collapses, failing to fully free Rover. Recognizing the cost of her action, she apologizes before sacrificing herself in the attempt.
In response, Rover—through sheer willpower—manages to break through the barrier, catching Cartethyia in time. In her final moments, she transfers her remaining power to them, stating, “This warm light must not fade. Take my power, my blessings, my past. Seek out a future where I am your blade. We'll find it together.”
With their resolve renewed, Rover resume the battle. Empowered by Cartethyia’s final gift, they succeed in defeating Fleurdelys. As the battle ends, the corrupted vessel acknowledges the outcome with a final remark: “Well done.”
Imperator's First Plan[]
In a realm of pure white, Rover encounters the final consciousness of Imperator, where the truth behind their transformation is revealed:
Imperator’s first plan was devised to destabilize and ultimately destroy the Threnodian, Leviathan, by exploiting a fundamental universal law that no Sentinel may bear more than one Resonator at a time. The plan began with Imperator allowing partial assimilation by Leviathan, effectively merging their entities while safeguarding his core data. This allowed Imperator to gain insider knowledge of Leviathan’s workings without fully succumbing to its influence. In the process, Leviathan created Fleurdelys, the first successful Resonator born from this hybrid form, and, due to the merger, Fleurdelys became the shared Resonator for both Imperator and Leviathan.
Several years passed, and Imperator awaited the emergence of a new mortal capable of bonding with Them through Tyrvine and the Second Awakening, a process overseen by the Fisalia family. Once this new Resonator was found, the plan’s pivotal moment arrived: a violation of the fundamental law, as the new mortal would bond with Imperator while Fleurdelys remained alive and connected to him through Leviathan. This violation would cause a collapse, with the conflicting frequencies of Imperator, Leviathan, Fleurdelys, and the new Resonator creating a destructive force that can tear apart the Threnodian’s resonance. The ultimate goal of this plan was to exploit the contradiction within Leviathan’s Resonance, causing its destruction and ending its influence over Rinascita.
This original plan was eventually undone by Cantarella's sacrifice, as stated by Imperator, "a plan born of hope". She had stated: "Not all journey toward a final destination. Some are destined to pave the way. Take my energy. I will find a way out myself. I trust this will serve to pave the way for you." - Leading to the outcome that they encountered.
Before it passes, it asks its Arbiter: "Did I fulfill the charge set upon me?" - To which Rover agrees and sets them free.
With the last remnants of their power, Imperator awakens Cartethyia. Cartethyia rejects Imperator's offer to forget the past, choosing instead to reconcile with her true self. In doing so, she realizes that she is now whole once again.
As Cartethyia gradually regains her awareness, her personality undergoes a noticeable shift. She becomes more lively and carefree, reflecting the legends that had once described her. Having shared such an intense experience together, the two can now enjoy a brief moment of peace. Once Cartethyia regains composure, she unexpectedly vows to surpass Rover. She pledges that one day, she will defy their wishes, ignore their pleas, defeat them, and become their savior, just as they had done for her. However, for now, she intends to reflect on her future path and rediscover the world of Ragunna as it is now.
Cantarella expresses her gratitude, thanking Rover for bringing the Fisalia family the peace they have long sought. She offers a symbol of the unbreakable pact between him and the family. Rover shares the message from Imperator, along with the outcome of the Sentinel’s fate. Cantarella acknowledges the significance of these revelations, understanding that divulging these truths to others will require time and careful preparation.

Dialogue[]
- Rover: (Still nowhere near finding Imperator. I'd better check on Abby...)
- Rover: Abby?
- ...
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: You there, Abster?
- Abby: (Yawns)... What's up...?
- Rover: (It's taking longer for Abby to react...)
- Abby: Hey, there's nothing to worry about... I'm just a little beat, that's all... Oh! Earlier when I was half-asleep, I came up with this great idea for finding the Sentinel.
- Rover: Let's hear it.
- Abby: Didn't the Sentinel say They're locked up in some kind of tower in the sky?
- Abby: Well, how about I just fly up there and look for it? Easy as pie!
- Rover: The tower is either too far to see or it's totally covered by clouds.
- Rover: Otherwise, we would've seen some sign of it on the ground.
- Rover: In the shape you're in... are you sure you could fly that far?
- Abby: C'mon, it won't hurt to try. The cliff at Egla Town would be a perfect launch pad.
- (Head to the designated location)
- ??: Music itself holds no emotion. It's the heart that grants it meaning. So, dear listener, tell me. What feelings did my piece evoke in you?
Relaxation and warmth.
Yearning and sorrow.
A feeling of nostalgia?
- ??: Wow... A very valuable insight! Thank you, that brings me closer to completing my piece.
- Ciaccona, a wandering bard. I'm glad to have met you. Ciaccona: Salutations, (Rover). My name is
You're looking for me?
- Ciaccona: I was sent by Lady Carlotta to find you. As I passed that abandoned house, I suddenly felt this... well, you know, rush of inspiration that just can't be ignored! So, I stopped to compose a piece...
- Ciaccona: Surprise, surprise, the melody led me right to you.
- Ciaccona: Well... I suppose this won't count as me getting distracted, right?
- Rover: If Carlotta asked you to find me, has something happened?
- Ciaccona: Lady Carlotta told me you encountered the supposed Martyred Maiden—Cartethyia.
- Ciaccona: She dispatched search teams soon after, but there's been no sign of Cartethyia since.
- Ciaccona: That's why she asked me to use my Forte to recreate the frequency you experienced at the time, to see if any details you might have missed become clearer.
- Rover: Recreate the frequency?
- Ciaccona: Well, it's a little tricky to explain in words... Think of it like being in an immersive portrait. Can you tell me about your meeting with Cartethyia?
- Ciaccona: The more details the better. Even the smallest things count.
- Ciaccona: Let's see here... Tweak a few notes here. Some emotions there. Textures... That should do it.
- Ciaccona: Now then, (Rover). Time for you to "tune in" to your memories.
- Rover: ("Tune in" to my memories... Does that mean I'm supposed to see the past from another perspective?)
- Cartethyia: Laureate?
- Cartethyia: Our Tacet Marks are glowing again. It appears there is a special connection between them.
- Cartethyia: What is the meaning of this?
- Rover: Someone used their Resonance ability to help me relive this moment, but this seems... unexpected.
- Cartethyia: How did you first come to notice me?
- Rover: The Sentinel—Imperator's voice guided me to you.
- Cartethyia: You heard the Sentinel's voice? Then tell me, am I Their Resonator?
A question I have yet to answer myself.
- Fenrico claims you are the Resonator for Leviathan, the Threnodian. Rover: Well, Imperator called you "the Lost," and Primus
- Rover: But you really don't have any idea?
- Cartethyia: I... I've actually been searching for the answer to this question, too.
- Cartethyia: My memories are fragmented. I remember becoming a Resonator, and the moment I was given the name Fleurdelys.
- Cartethyia: I also remember fighting... something. But the details and the outcome of that battle are lost to me.
- Cartethyia: You seem deeply concerned about the Sentinel. Tell me, why is that?
Abby.
- Abby: Hmm...? You rang?
- Abby: Whoa! Check it out! Our frequencies got split apart.
What do you mean?
Right now, are we kind of like apparitions?
- Abby: Basically, we're storta in that "hover mode" you once joked about. Nothing new to me though.
- Cartethyia: This must be the frequency that's entangled within you. Is it some kind of Echo?
You can sense Abby?
- Cartethyia: Yes... I'm experiencing a similar kind of frequency split. Though there is little that remains of my Resonance powers.
- Cartethyia: I feel its frequency weakening... I understand why you're eager to find the Sentinel.
- Cartethyia: You said you heard the Sentinel's voice. Was there anything else They said?
- Rover: They spoke of being ensnared in an inverted tower suspended in the sky.
- Cartethyia: Ensnared? Does that mean behind the seals there's...
Did something come to mind?
- Cartethyia: I'm sure you've noticed that "I" was drawn here only as a frequency.
- Cartethyia: My true form currently resides inside an inverted Sonoro Sphere suspended high in the sky. At its center stands a tower, its gate locked by three seals.
- Cartethyia: I've sensed a voice callign out to me from behind them... Could it be the Sentinel?
- Abby: Say, it's really faint so I barely noticed earlier... Is that a Threnodian smell I'm getting from ya?
- Cartethyia: The scent of a Threnodian...? You can perceive the Threnodian?
How sure are you, Abby?
- Ova-thracula" meatball I had, but I'd never mix up a flavor I've already tasted. Abby: It's not an exact one-to-one with that big "
- Jinzhou. Rover: Abby has a nose for these sorts of things. We came across Threnodian powers before in
- Rover: So it's safe to say Abby can be trusted.
- Cartethyia: Do you think I'm the Threnodian's Resonator?
- Rover: If we're making assumptions, let's err on the optimistic side first.
- Rover: Given your current situation, it is possible you were affected by the Threnodian's powers during your battle alongside Imperator.
- Rover: That could be the reason behind losing all your power, too.
- Cartethyia: Hmm... I take it this theory would benefit you as well?
- Cartethyia: After all, that unique Echo of yours needs the Sentinel's powers for treatment, does it not?
- Cartethyia: Even if adventure tales, it's not always the witch who loses her memory, it could also be a Blessed Maiden trying to regain her powers!
- Cartethyia: In that case, it appears we share the same goal of finding the Sentinel.
You're awfully calm about this.
You're willing to trust Abby?
- Cartethyia: Spending so much time alone in the Sonoro Sphere gave me plenty of time to consider countless possibilities.
- Cartethyia: I've braced myself for whatever may come until I find the answers I'm seeking.
- Rover: I want to know what's going on with Imperator in that tower. And I want to speak with you in person.
- Rover: How can I reach your Sonoro Sphere?
- Cartethyia: A part of the Sonoro Sphere is actually on land, though its outer perimeter is surrounded by a barrier.
- Cartethyia: I cannot leave, and no one can enter.
Just break it open...
- Cartethyia: I'm afraid that won't do...
- Cartethyia: That barrier also acts as the power source that maintains the Sonoro Sphere's integrity. If it's destroyed, the entire Sphere will collapse.
- Cartethyia: And the ruins along with the Tacet Discords it houses would come crashing down on Ragunna. It would be catastrophic.
- Rover: You said no one can get in. Has anyone tried?
- Cartethyia: Yes, I've occasionally sensed someone wandering outside the barrier as if searching for a way inside.
- Cartethyia: Perhaps they know something?
- Rover: Any distinguishing features?
- Cartethyia: Emm... Almost like a deep-sea jellyfish?
- Cartethyia: I-I wasn't able to get a clear look. I can only describe the feeling I got from her as a Resonator.
- Cartethyia: It would seem this Resonance ability can only last for so long.
- Rover: I'll look for a way to find this person you mentioned.
- Cartethyia: Something tells me you will keep your promise.
- Cartethyia: No matter the outcome, this may be my chance to find the answers I've been looking for.
- Ciaccona: (Rover)... (Rover)...
- Ciaccona: Oh, thank goodness... You're finally awake!
- Ciaccona: How are you feeling? Any headache? Tingling feet? Upset stomach?
- Ciaccona: Phew... I tried everything, but you just wouldn't wake up. I thought you were...
- Ciaccona: Wait a second, did you actually fall asleep listening to my music? Oh... It kind of breaks my heart to know you reacted like that when it wasn't even a lullaby.
- Rover: No, it was really helpful.
- Ciaccona: Helpful for your sleeping troubles, hmm?
(You tell Ciaccona what happened.)
- Ciaccona: Oh...
- Ciaccona: So my Forte created a special connection that led to some unexpected developments...
- Ciaccona: The girl, is she friend or foe...? What truths lie behind the seal...? And who is that mysterious wandering figure...?
- Ciaccona: I have a feeling this is going to be a very exciting song!
- Ciaccona: Ahem... I'll pass this information on to Lady Carlotta. So, what do you plan to do next?
- (My LordMy Lord/
My LadyMy Lady) (Rover).
???: Pardon the intrusion. - Sebastian: My name is Sebastian. As per Milady's instructions, I have been entrusted with the honor of inviting you to the Fisalia estate for a discussion.
- Rover: (The Fisalia family? The one that's likely worshipping the Threnodian?)
- Rover: Why does she want to talk with me?
- Sebastian: Milady has expressed a desire to clear up some unfortunate misunderstandings that occurred previously.
- Rover: Tell her I accept the invitation, but at a later time.
- Sebastian: I will convey your message to Milady.
- Ciaccona: Didn't expect the head of the Fisalia family to come looking for you, especially while they're still in the middle of negotiations with Lady Carlotta.
- Ciaccona: She's just as unpredictable as the rumors say.
Tell me about these rumors.
- Ciaccona: I suppose you would want to know more about her before taking up her invitation, hmm?
- Ciaccona: She's known to be a recluse and rarely makes public appearances. No one outside the family even knows her real name. They just call her the "head of the Fisalia family."
- Ciaccona: I've heard quite a few rumors. Which one would you like to hear first?
- Ciaccona: I have "Shadow of the Ancient," "Lady Bane," or maybe "Entangler of Hearts"?
They all sound like clickbait titles to me.
- Ciaccona: Hello... That's why they're called rumors. I'm just doing my due diligence by being faithful to the source material.
- Ciaccona: So, ready to dive right in?
I don't have much time. How about a shortened version?
Give me a quick summary. I'll get into the details later.
- Ciaccona: Well... Long story short, the Fisalia family was one of the first to set foot on these islands and establish order in Rinascita.
- Order of the Deep, and their craft of extracting toxins from aquatic plants is a legacy passed down through generations. Ciaccona: Their lineage even predatges the
- Ciaccona: Word is, they select the new head of household by having candidates ingest each other's poisions and wait to see who's still breathing when it's all over.
- Ciaccona: Stories about the current head of the Fisalias get even wilder. They say she didn't go through the usual selection process. Instead, she took the throne by poisoning her predecessor.
- Ciaccona: Other say she's a master in the art of manipulation, drowning her victims in hallucinations until they agree to her terms without even realizing it.
Sounds like a dangerous person.
Only the bad stuff, huh...?
- Ciaccona: In any case, the Fisalia family aside, she's someone you definitely want to handle with care.
- Ciaccona: If you're set on meeting her, I'd be extra careful if I were you.
- Rover: (The way she described the head of Fisalia... reminds me of how Cartethyia spoke about the wandering figure by the barrier.)
- Rover: (Can't rule out the possibility that they're the same person. Looks like I'll need to pay her a visit.)
- (Optional - Talk to Ciaccona)
- Ciaccona: This is where the Blessed Maiden spent her childhood. I'll stick around to see if I can find any more clues.
- Ciaccona: I've already left a message for Lady Carlotta. She should get back to you once she's finished negotiations with the Fisalias.
- Ciaccona: By the way, I've been meaning to ask, what were you doing here when we met?
- Rover: We were about to launch Abby into... Never mind, I'd better get going.
- Ciaccona: Hmm?
- (Approach Porto-Veno Castle)
- Carlotta: Hello, (Rover). I received Ciaccona's memo.
- Carlotta: To think the head of the Fisalias approached you when I was still in negotiations with her emissaries. Was it meant to be a diversion all along...?
- Carlotta: They invited you and you alone. As a Montelli, I'm in no position to intervene.
- Carlotta: That being said, if the Fisalias try anything against you, I'll get you out, even if it means storming through their front gates.
- Carlotta: In the meantime, I'll keep looking for more information and the person Cartethyia mentioned to you.
- Carlotta: I'll call you as soon as I find anything.
- Rover: Got it.
- (Idle)
- Sebastian: Now, if you'll please just follow me.
- (Enter Porto-Veno Castle)
- Sebastian: One moment, please. I shall inform Milady of your arrival.
- ???: That won't be necessary.
- ???: To keep our honored guest waiting would be... most improper.
- ???: Especially when it was I who extended the invitation.
- Cantarella: Cantarella Fisalia—36th matriarch of the Fisalia family. I am pleased to make your acquaintance.
- Cantarella: Honorable Laureate. The new Crown of the Carnivale.
Just (Rover) will do.
- Cantarella: Very well. If you insist, I see no reason to refuse.
- Cantarella: You may also call me Cantarella.
Have you seen my crown, by chance?
- Cantarella: Hmm... the Laurel is a gift of the Divinity. What claim have I to crown one as distinguished as yourself?
Sorry, that was a bad joke.
- Cantarella: I should be the one to apologize for not understanding our guest's attempt at lightening the mood.
Just (Rover) will do.
- Cantarella: You may also call me Cantarella.
- Cantarella: Now. Shall we proceed to my study?
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: Won't you have a seat?
- Gilberto. Cantarella: I hope you'll accept this tea as my way of apologizing for the incident with
- Cantarella: Members of the family may have troubled you, but htere is no stain that can't be washed away. Every sorrow has its own way of fading, don't you think?
- Cantarella: You still hold a grudge. Won't you accept my apology?
(Drink the tea.)
- Rover: This tea... Is it from Jinzhou?
(Push the tea aside.)
- Cantarella: I see. Let's set aside such past unpleasantness for the time being.
- Cantarella: I invited you here to ask that you might serve as a mediator.
- Rover: Before we get into that, there's something I want to know.
- Cantarella: I imagine it concerns... the Fisalia family's true beliefs?
- Cantarella: It would seem Gilberto's mind is beyond saving.
- Cantarella: But let's not dwell on that. What is your opinion on the current state of Ragunna, (Rover)?
Peaceful, in a way that feels... wrong.
- Cantarella: So you've noticed something is amiss. As expected from someone who's felt the weight of a Threnodian invasion firsthand.
- Cantarella: And what exactly do you find most unsettling?
- Rover: Why haven't the Threnodian and the Sentinel ever shown themselves?
- Cantarella: Because the Threnodian's invasion of Ragunna... has long since concluded.
- Cantarella: The Threnodian, so named Leviathan, possesses the power to merge and assimilate. It used distorted beliefs to spread a spiritual plague that slowly devours civilizations from within.
- Cantarella: Though the previous two attempts were thwarted, the tall mast of the galleon that is Ragunna has already been snapped in half.
- Cantarella: Now the blissfully ignorant masses walk hand in hand toward an abyss they cannot see.
- Cantarella: Friend or foe? As a newcomer to this land, can you really tell them apart?
Are you implying the Order worships the Threnodian?
You're one to talk, given how strange your family's been acting.
- Cantarella: Yes and no. On one hand, there's the truth of the Order's beliefs...
- Cantarella: On the other, there's our family. The Threnodian doesn't take kindly to those who know the truth. We've always been under Its whispers.
- Cantarella: Once the soul fractures, the mind will follow until only a puppet remains.
- Cantarella: Now that we've come this far, there's nothing for me to hide.
- Cantarella: My only hope is that once you learn everything, you will carefully consider my request.
- Cantarella: Come. The truth you seek lies in the deepest part of the castle.
- (Walk past the Imperator statue)
- Rover: (It's thick with dust. Hard to believe they're truly worshipping it.)
- Cantarella: Curious about that statue? It represents the unbroken friendship between the Fisalias and the Order.
- Cantarella: But in the eyes of outsiders, it is more a symbol of defeat and submission.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: (The aroma from these plants... It's the same scent that was in the study.)
- Cantarella: These are Violacas. They produce a unique fragrance, wouldn't you say?
- Cantarella: Violacas are a vital ingredient for our elixirs. It even has a soothing effect on its own.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: This is it.
- Cantarella: Are you prepared?
- Rover: Yes.
- Cantarella: Now that we're here, I'm afraid I can't let you leave. Even if you want to.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: Just as I expected... The Threnodian "took notice" of you the moment you learned the truth.
- Cantarella: (Rover), what you see in this sanctuary is the Sentinel in Their true form.
- Cantarella: A majestic steed that galloped with the wind, not a creature of the ocean's depths.
- Cantarella: The Order worships a half-horse, half-sea creature Divinity, a form the Sentinel assumed only after being corrupted by the Threnodian.
- Cantarella: Although the Sentinel's will has yet to fade, who knows how much longer They can endure.
- Jinzhou—Jué—to come to Rinascita. To save Imperator. Cantarella: (Rover). I wish to ask you to persuade the Sentinel of
That's much easier said than done.
What makes you think I can do that?
- Cantarella: In return, I will agree to whatever condition or request you make.
A Sentinel cannot leave its commissioned region.
Jué leaving Jinzhou would be a betrayal of duty.
Jué is still in the middle of a recovery.
- Cantarella: I understand the position you are in. Word has it that you're currently staying at a hotel and are at odds with the Order.
- Cantarella: Perhaps a stay at my estate would suit you, for the remainder of your time in Rinascita?
- Cantarella: I can offer you a glimpse into Rinascita's past, and you'd be spared the Order's unwelcomed attention.
- Rover: There might still be a path forward.
- Rover: Carlotta once helped me interpret some stained glass images. The story it told was very similar to what you've described.
- Rover: Only more biased towards the Order. It mentioned a maiden who would emerge as the Sentinel's Resonator and later save Rinascita.
- Rover: Do you think that's also a lie?
- Cantarella: Care to elaborate?
(Describe to Cantarella what was portrayed on the stained glass.)
- Cantarella: The part regarding the maiden isn't entirely fiction.
- Cantarella: The Sentinel does indeed appoint a maiden to be Their Resonator, though not in the way the Carnevale would have you believe. No, it's through resonance with a very particular artifact.
That's not how Jué found Their Resonator.
- Cantarella: That's because Imperator wields the power to split and manipulate space.
- Cantarella: With it, They can withdraw a portion of power. That power's frequency will match the Imperator's own.
- Tyrvine—came to be. A blade sealed with the very powers of the Sentinel, and the artifact used to select Their Resonator. Cantarella: This is how the Sword of Divinity—
- Cantarella: To resonate with the sword is to resonate with the Sentinel. Only the chosen one may hope to draw it.
- Rover: Then... what about Cartethyia?
- Cantarella: The Martyred "Maiden"...? The nature of her resonance is unclear to me.
- Cantarella: Perhaps she resonated with the Threnodian, or perhaps with the Sentinel in its corrupted form.
- Cantarella: But choosing her could not have been the Sentinel's will. That's because...
- Cantarella: The Maiden was already dead.
What?
Are you saying the real Maiden was already chosen?
- Cantarella: In the past, each year the Fisalia family would hold the Divine Trials to select those with the strongest will. These young women would attempt to resonate with Tyrvine's powers—while Overclocked, of course.
- Cantarella: Though none succeeded, some saw fragments of the truth hidden within the resonance.
- Cantarella: I was one of them... There was a moment, where I glimpsed the Sentinel's corrupted form and the inverted ruin suspended in the sky.
- Cantarella: I also learned that only Tyrvine can break the barrier of that Sonoro Sphere.
- Cantarella: When I awoke from that vision, I discovered a line of words inscribed onto my hand.
- Cantarella: I would never mistake my own handwriting. That is precisely why I am searching for other possibilities.
- Cantarella: The words were—"The Maiden is dead."
- Rover: (An inverted ruin suspended in the sky... her and Cartethyia's descriptions bean many similarities.)
- Rover: (If Tyrvine is the key to entering the Sonoro Sphere, it stands to reason that Imperator may have played a role in the Sphere's creation.)
- Rover: (If I can confirm that Tyrvine was truly left by Imperator, at least it would prove that neither are lying.)
- Rover: (Cantarella said she was Overclocking when she tried resonating with Tyrvine.)
- Jinhsi. Could Imperator be trying to restore Their power through a Second Awakening?) Rover: (That's exactly what happened with
- Rover: (If that's the case... my permission should cause a reaction. That's one way to confirm what they're saying.)
Can I get a closer look at the sword?
Would you mind if I tried to pull out the sword?
- Cantarella: ...I suppose all that's left is its symbolic value.
- Cantarella: However, do handle it with care. It is a family heirloom... I've heard of your unique methods and formidable strength.
- Cantarella: (Rover)... Who are you really?
Jué calls me the Arbiter.
- Cantarella: The Sentinel's... Arbiter?
You can call me the (Blessed OneBlessed One/
Blessed MaidenBlessed Maiden). - Cantarella: No... you're likely a far more special entity.
- Rover: Well, I have some information and theories of my own. Care to hear them?
- Cantarella: Please. Enlighten me.
- You tell Cantarella about the conversation you had with Cartethyia.
- Cantarella: I would never have imagined someone already considered a martyr could still be alive.
- Cantarella: What surprises me even more, is the connection you have with the Sentinel.
- Cantarella: We Fisalias revere Imperator as our one true Divinity. And yet here you stand, the Arbiter of the Sentinel.
- Cantarella: Would it be more fitting to address you as "Master"?
Keeping it (Rover) is fine.
Let's get back to the matter at hand.
- Cantarella: Then, (Rover). I present my request once more...
- Cantarella: Are you willing to help rescue our Sentinel, and pull Rinascita back from the brink of chaos?
We have a deal.
I have my own reasons for finding Imperator.
- You hand Cantarella Tyrvine. She stares at the sword for a moment before shaking her head.
- Cantarella: Tyrvine can only serve its purpose while in your hands. You should have it.
- Rover: The only question now is how we reach Cartethyia and Imperator's Sonoro Sphere.
- Cantarella: We can discuss it on the way.
- Rover: So you're the one that Cartethyia sensed wandering outside the Sonoro Sphere?
- Cantarella: A question that you already know the answer to. Why bother asking?
- Cantarella: Although, being described as a "jellyfish"...
- Cantarella: There is a cable car in the lower levels of the Fisalia estate that leads directly to the Sonoro Sphere. The mechanism beside that wall can activate the lifts.
- Rover: Are all these mechanisms really necessary?
- Cantarella: Convenience isn't the only reason for having them. Some were specifically built in case an outsider decided to visit.
- Rover: Why do the Fisalias have a cable car that leads directly to the Sonoro Sphere?
- Cantarella: Before it became a Sonoro Sphere, it was a seminary known as the Avinoleum. The Martyred Maiden once pursued her studies there.
- Cantarella: A superficial harmony needed to be maintained between the Fisalias and the Order, and this underground cable car was intended to send scions of the family to school.
- Cantarella: The elevator is merely a later addition I had built for easy access.
- (Board the train Echo)
- Cantarella: You seem perturbed. Are you still gathering your thoughts?
- Rover: Everything that's happened has all lined up so perfectly. It makes me think it's too good to be true.
- Cantarella: I'd like to share a different perspective.
- Cantarella: River eventually converge into the same ocean. If a goal is mutual, then it is only a matter of time before they meet.
- Cantarella: Our very choices and our will have led us to this situation. Not the wishes of fate.
- Rover: You are quite different from what the rumors say.
- Cantarella: Oh. And what rumors have you heard?
- Rover: That you're a recluse, a mystic, obsessed with the crafting of poison, of... and that you poisoned your predecessor. Those kind of rumors.
- Cantarella: A recluse? On the contrary, I've been searching for a solution to the Sentinel's plight and rarely return to Rinascita.
- Mingting in Huanglong introduced me to the stories they were telling of you. Cantarella: After most of my leads fell short, a friend at
- Rover: A friend?
- Cantarella: All the affairs of Huanglong's states eventually land in one person's hands. Would you care to take a guess at the identity of this friend of mine?
- Rover: ...Why not put the other rumors to rest?
- Cantarella: Because the rest of them are all true.
- Cantarella: (Chuckle)... I see it'll take more than that to rattle you, hmm?
- Cantarella: I assure you, this is not jest.
- Cantarella: We Fisalias have lived under the Threnodian's whispers for generations. Once the soul fractures, the mind will follow until only a puppet remains.
- Cantarella: When the soul of the ruling head falters, Fisalia tradition dictates that the successor... usher them into eternal slumber, with a poison of their own making.
- Cantarella: My succession ritual... well, an unforeseen incident gave rise to whispers that sparked those rumors.
- Rover: ...How long has this been going on?
- Cantarella: For centuries... every generation.
- Cantarella: Outside, they call me "The Bane." But historically, every head of the Fisalia family has carried such a title.
- Cantarella: It just so happens that I am the most potent one yet.
- Cantarella: We've reached the old seminary's undercrypt. The gateway into the Sonoro Sphere itself lies at its center.
- Cantarella: We shall continue on foot from here.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: Strange...
- Cantarella: This area was clear of Tacet Discords on my last visit, and there's no Tacet Field nearby.
- Cantarella: Could they have come from the Sonoro Sphere itself?
- (Defeat the TDs)
- Rover: Didn't think there would be Gulpuffs here.
- Cantarella: Interesting. I've never seen such little creatures before. Would you mind sparing a few for me?
- Rover: (I'd better not ask what she plans to do with them...)
- (Defeat the Gulpuffs)
- Cantarella: The road ahead will not be an easy one.
- Rover: What exactly happened here?
- Dark Tide... It occured right here, at the Avinoleum. The largest seminary ever built by the Order. Cantarella: The second
- Cantarella: It arrived on the very day the Blessed Maiden passed her trials and was crowned by the Order. A day when belief burned brighter than ever.
- Cantarella: And when the darkness came, none escaped.
- Cantarella: These days, what most people remember is the seminary disappearing into the sky. But in truth, the Dark Tide that should have spread across Rinascita vanished, along with it.
- Cantarella: Yet due to a lack of records, the second Dark Tide slowly faded from memory.
- Cantarella: I was there when it all happened. Still an ordinary member of the family, watching it unfold from a boat just outside the seminary.
- Cantarella: It wasn't until later when I attempted to resonate with Tyrvine, that I gained a partial glimpse of the Sonoro Sphere's interior.
- Rover: Sounds like someone inside the seminary did something to stop the spread.
- Cantarella: Precisely. It could very well have been Cartethyia's doing. But, as with the first time, there's also the chance it was the Sentinel who turned the tide.
- Cantarella: I can sense the conflict within you, the temptation to trust your Maiden. But it's best to keep those thoughts to yourself, for now.
- Cantarella: The Threnodian knows where the heart is weakest and it is there it strikes the hardest.
- Rover: ...
- Cantarella: Of course, it's never too late to place your trust when the evidence is clear.
- Cantarella: But... now is not the time, is it?
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: The gateway into the Sonoro Sphere is just on the other side of this bridge. This is the furthest I've ever managed to venture.
- Cantarella: Judging from the bits of information the Sentinel gave me, Tyrvine is the key to entering the Sonoro Sphere.
- Cantarella: And who can wield the Sword of Divinity but a Blessed Maiden?
- Rover: But you said you left yourself a message saying that the Maiden was dead.
- Cantarella: That's why I sought aid from the other Sentinels. It's a shame they all refused.
- Cantarella: Luckily, you've brought me a new hope.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Laureate. You have come.
- Cartethyia: Greetings, I am Cartethyia. And you are?
- Cantarella: Cantarella Fisalia.
- Cartethyia: Oh, a Fisalia... It seems your ties with the Order are more complicated than they appear.
- Cantarella: I had the privilege of watching the Blessed Maiden's performance at the Carnevale once.
- Cantarella: I'm rather surprised. After all this time, you still look exactly as you did that day.
- Cantarella: But you and I should be around the same age.
- Cartethyia: I'm also unsure of what's happened to me... I've been searching for answers.
- Cartethyia: This must be the Sword of Divinity—Tyrvine, the one with the Sentinel's powers sealed within.
- Cantarella: You shouldn't have knowledge of this sword.
- Cartethyia: Memories flowed into my mind just as you entered the Sonoro Sphere, granting me information about the sword's origins.
- Rover: (Cantarella said that only those who resonate with Tyrvine are granted glimpses of its knowledge...)
- Cartethyia: Would you mind if I tried touching it?
- Cartethyia: The question of whose Resonator I am... is now perfectly clear.
- Cartethyia: If I am not the Sentinel's Resonator. Then that must mean...
- Rover: Don't jump to conclusions just yet. That doesn't prove you're the Threnodian's Resonator, nor that you aid Its cause.
- Cartethyia: Huh?
Things are more complicated than you expected.
- Cartethyia: This connection formed between the Sentinel and the Threnodian, the second Dark Tide, and the forming of this Sonoro Sphere...
- Rover: Right now, you're the sole survivor of whatever happened that day. You really don't remember anything?
- Cartethyia: As you spoke, I remembered a few more things. There are two other swords.
- Cartethyia: The Sword of Discord—Hognis, and the Sword of Virtue—Haultir.
Do you remember three pedestals as well?
- Cartethyia: Yes, did you see them too?
- Cartethyia: Placing the three swords on their respective pedestals should break the seal over the main tower...
- Cartethyia: But why would this information be revealed to me now...? Is this the Threnodian's doing?
- Rover: If we do nothing, we'll never get any answers.
- Rover: Instead of speculating, we should use the clues we've gathered so far.
- Cantarella: Lady Maiden...
- Cartethyia: Please. Cartethyia would suffice. I am but a fake after all.
- Cantarella: I've waited for this moment, this chance to save the Sentinel... and my family.
- Cantarella: I will not turn back, even if this does turn out to be a trap.
- Cantarella: If the thought of the final answer troubles you, then I suggest you step aside. (Rover) and I will take care of this matter.
- Cartethyia: Since you are willing to overlook the possibilities of a trap, then there's no reason for me to worry and turn away.
- Cartethyia: I underestimated your resolve. I'm sorry.
So, how do we get up there?
- Cartethyia: Simply place Tyrvine on the pedestal behind me and this tower will elevate itself.
- Rover: What you said to Cartethyia back there.
- Cantarella: Rather effective on someone of her personality, wouldn't you agree?
- Rover: ...
- (Pass through the border)
- Cartethyia: Are you all right? The gravity that occupies this space is the opposite of what you're used to. It took me some time to get used to it too.
Why is this place upside down?
- Cartethyia: I believe it's to prevent them from falling to the ground.
Them?
- Cartethyia: Tacet Discords. The Dark Tide. And these ruins themselves.
- Cantarella: I imagine it's also a symbolic reminder that our beliefs have been turned on their head.
- Cantarella: This view matches with what I saw at the time.
- Cartethyia: Until you get used to the gravity here, I suggest we travel via "Phaom."
- Cartethyia: It's the name I gave to a Gondola.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: This Gondola only has two seats...
- Cartethyia: Oh, dear... I completely forgot about this...
How about I go with Cartethyia first?
- Cantarella: It seems I get to enjoy a free ride after you've scouted the paths ahead.
How about I go with Cantarella first?
- Cantarella: Me?
- Cantarella: Now's not the time to be so careless after the promise you made with Cartethyia.
- Cantarella: You should focus on learning more about this place from her. I'll be watching with great interest to see what you come up with.
How about I go with Abby first?
- Cantarella: (Chuckle.)
- Cartethyia: Isn't Abby... living inside your Tacet Mark?
- Cantarella: Well, then, the two of you go on ahead.
Can we make room for one more?
- Cantarella: Greed will get you punished, you know.
- Cartethyia: I'm afraid Phaom would refuse that suggestion.
- Cantarella: The two of you can go on ahead.
- Rover: You look distracted. Still thinking about what Cantarella said about fearing answers?
- Cartethyia: ...My powers are very weak, and many Tacet Discords roam the Sonoro Sphere.
- Cartethyia: Thus I've been limited in the areas I can explore. All I can do is sit here, lost in thought, trying to figure out who I am.
- Rover: Are you afraid of knowing the answer?
- Cartethyia: I am afraid... but not of the answer. I fear never finding one at all.
- (Head to the designated location)
- (Cutscene plays)
- Cartethyia: We'll be arriving at the first waterrise soon.
- Cartethyia: A few details, if you don't mind.
- Rover: Feeling nervous?
- Cartethyia: Of course!
- Cartethyia: The last time I tried to pass it like this...
- Cartethyia: Oh... Eek!
- Cartethyia: Where were my manners?
- Cartethyia: ...I can assure you it won't happen again.
- Cartethyia: As for the rest of the way...
- Cartethyia: I see it clearly now.
- (Cutscene ends)
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Vines, over there. And that statue...
- Rover: I can feel strong Remnant Energy coming from it.
- Cartethyia: The Order's Remnant Spark must be inside the statue. Legends speak of how the first Primus used it to purify the first Dark Tide...
- Cartethyia: ...I see now. The lingering remnants of the Dark Tide must be trapping the Spark.
- Cartethyia: To release it, we'll need to clear away the remaining remnants binding it.
- Cartethyia: Once we have the Remnant Spark, we can use it to burn through the vines.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: If the Threnodian created the Dark Tide, maybe Abby can absorb it.
- Cartethyia: Abby is still unwell, perhaps we shouldn't burden it further.
- Cartethyia: More Dark Tide remnants... Good thing there isn't much. Leave it to me.
- Rover: ...
- Cartethyia: Dont worry. This much I can still handle.
- (Head to the designated location)
- "Phaom": *Rumbles*
- Cartethyia: The vines are remnants of the Dark Tide. Phaom won't be able to cross through them...
- Cartethyia: Let's disembark here and find a way to clear the path.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: This calibrator seems to be operational.
- Cartethyia: One moment...
- Cartethyia: That should do it... Why don't you give it a try?
- (Use Gravity Calibrator)
- Cartethyia: It's turning!
- Cartethyia: Rotate the Gravity Calibrator to change the direction of the gravity's pull.
- Cartethyia: If we use this we should be able to reach areas we previously couldn't.
- (Purify a statue)
- Cartethyia: Hurry. We need to purify the other statues before the Dark Tide's corruption returns.
- (Purify all statues)
- "Phaom": *Rumbles*
- Cartethyia: Sounds like Phaom's getting impatient. Let's head back.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: Did you feel any discomfort while we were clearing out the remnants?
- Cartethyia: Nothing out of the ordinary... I felt fine.
- Cartethyia: I suppose this alone is not enough to determine whose Resonator I am.
- Rover: You've helped a lot. Don't worry about that for now.
- Cartethyia: ...
- Rover: Another waterrise is coming up. You planning to hold on to something?
- Cartethyia: Why didn't you tell me sooner?!
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Phew...
- Rover: By the way. You said the inverted gravity is to stop the Dark Tide from descending into the city.
- Rover: But all we've seen so far are just its remnants.
- Cartethyia: ...That's because this very waterway we're sailing on used to be the Dark Tide itself.
- Cartethyia: In these waters, gravity isn't the only thing that's inverted. Its very essence is, too.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Obstacles ahead. Let's get off here.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: There it is, up there. But judging by the distance, we'd be hard-pressed to make it back in time.
- Rover: Can you use your ability from somewhere in between to clear them all at once?
- Cartethyia: I might not have that range...
- Cartethyia: But there may be Tacetite devices nearby that can help amplify my Forte. Let's see if we can find one.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: That's it. A Tacetite device!
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: This should do the trick!
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: (Exhales)...
- Rover: You okay?
- Cartethyia: Just catching my breath. You go get the Remnant Spark.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Up ahead is the Tower of Salvation. That's where the first pedestal is located.
- Rover: Tower of Salvation?
- Cartethyia: Yes. A name taken from the Order's Codex.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: I'd rather know I'm a villain than remain a wanderer, lost in a world without understanding.
- Cartethyia: To live with no memory of the past... Would it be so different from choosing to end it all?
- Cartethyia: I must find the answer... Only then will I know how to face the memories I still carry.
- Cartethyia: As for you, if I really am...
- Rover: I can take care of myself.
- Rover: If it comes to that, I'll still remember the girl who cared enough to worry about me.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: I should go back for Cantarella. Will you wait here for us?
- Rover: Of course.
- Cartethyia: I hope you won't mind the extra trip, Phaom.
- "Phaom": *Rumbles*
- It doesn't take long for Cartethyia to return and the three of you regroup.
- Cantarella: I saw signs of battle along the way. Is anyone injured?
Good as new.
- Cantarella: You're not hiding anything from me, are you?
No... Not at all.
- Cantarella: Your smile is rather concerning...
Just some flesh wounds.
My life is flashing before my eyes...
- Cantarella: Well, you seem to be in perfect shape to me.
- Cantarella: But if you say so, I can offer you a strong elixir. Care to give it a try?
I'm good. Thanks...
- Cantarella: Oh I insist. Here, take this.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: There's no knowing what will happen once Tyrvine is placed on the pedestal. It's best we prepare ourselves.
- (Place Tyrvine on its pedestal)
- Prestigious Elder: No longer shall you bear these thorns as a reminder. Forged from primordial seas... this crown shall grant a new identity.
- Prestigious Elder: Fleurdelys. Child of Divinity. The Immaculate One. Will you uphold the sacred teachings of the Order of the Deep?
- Familiar Girl: I will.
- Prestigious Elder: Salvation. Unity. Ascension... Of these three doctrines, which do you choose?
- Familiar Girl: I choose Salvation. I wish to be the Master's blade, striking evil, upholding virtue, and offering salvation to those in peril.
- Prestigious Elder: In the name of Divinity, I bestow upon you this crown. May the blood of justice never run dry.
- Prestigious Elder: Through this sacred rite, you become the bridge between the heavens and the living.
- Prestigious Elder: From this day forward, you shall be the Master's sole receiver and herald.
- Prestigious Elder: Rise, Blessed Maiden Fleurdelys.
- Prestigious Elder: None but the Master shall ever have the right to command you to bend the knee.
- Abby: Aaaahhhhhhh! I told you to stop sticking random stuff in here!!!
- Abby: Do you have any idea how messed up and humongous that frequency was? It's gonna give me indigestion!
What frequency, Abby?
- Abby: I should ask you that! What did you do just now, huh?
- Abby: i was dozing when bam! Outta nowhere a giant blue ball landed on top of me.
- Abby: It almost squished me!
- Rover: I'm guessing putting Tyrvine on the pedestal has something to do with it.
- Abby: Oh, hey! It smells just as "unnatural" as that big gigantor back in Jinzhou.
Jué?
- Cantarella: The Sentinel of Jinzhou... If what our little Echo friend says is true, then the frequency that entered your Tacet Mark could be Imperator's powers.
- Abby: Huh? But the Sentinel isn't even here.
- Rover: The power to split and manipulate space...
- Cantarella: It is reminiscent of the moment of Tyrvine's creation. Only this time the place of confinement has become your Tacet Mark.
- Abby: But why would it do that?
- Cartethyia: I believe it was meant for the "true" Maiden.
- Cartethyia: Under the right circumstances, the one to wield this sword and enter the Sonoro Sphere would be the Sentinel's Resonator, the Blessed Maiden.
- Cartethyia: The Sentinel entrusted Their power to the Resonator so that she could lend assistance when the corruption of the Threnodian altered Them. Quite logical, isn't it?
- Abby: You don't seem too thrilled about it.
- Rover: If Imperator set this in motion, then Their original plan has already failed.
- Rover: Cartethyia, that means your guidance holds the key now.
- Cartethyia: But...
- Rover: I believe in you.
- Rover: Is there anything else you remember?
- Cartethyia: I... just remembered the day I was crowned by the Order, and the moment the Dark Tide descended upon us...
You saw the coronation too?
- Cartethyia: Hmm?
(Describe what you saw to Cartethyia.)
- Rover: But I didn't see the Dark Tide.
- Cartethyia: That is all I can remember...
- Cantarella: Is that what you saw?
- Cartethyia: You witnessed it as well, Cantarella?
- Cantarella: No. I only saw fragmented, blurry images...
- Cantarella: They seemed to belong to other places within the Sonoro Sphere.
- Cantarella: I believe this is where we should rest. We'll wait until sunrise.
I can still go on.
- Cantarella: You're the one who needs rest most of all.
- Cantarella: After all, it's still only a possibility that the frequency you absorbed is the Sentinel's powers. Rest now, to ensure it doesn't take a toll on you.
We can take this time to think about the clues.
- Abby: I'm gonna hit the sack as well.
- Abby: Boy, it's so cramped in here...
- (Idle)
- Cantarella: What we saw earlier. Was it some kind of message?
- Cantarella: We should look into it.
- Cantarella: There may be more to Tyrvine than meets the eye.
- (Talk to Cantarella)
- Cantarella: Now what could you possibly want with me at a time like this?
About the Fisalia family.
- Rover: Is it true that the Fisalia family was one of the factions that started the conflict in that stained glass?
- Cantarella: The leader of one such faction, to be exact.
- Cantarella: That was a long time ago. After their defeat, the union was disbanded under immense pressure, and the Fisalias gradually withdrew from the public eye.
- Rover: Is this why you had no choice but to publicly change your beliefs?
- Cantarella: No. The reasons for the Fisalia family relinquishing their pride and enduring disgrace are far more intricate than that.
- Rover: What do you mean?
- Cantarella: Long ago, Tyrvine was actually given to the Fisalia family by the first Primus, Napoli the Second.
- Cantarella: When the conflict had settled, he arranged a private meeting with the head of the family to reveal the truths behind the pilgrimage.
- Cantarella: He told the Fisalias that when he traveled through the first Dark Tide and reached its end, there was no sanctuary. Only a battlefield filled with darkness and suffering.
- Cantarella: The heavenly voices he heard were not revelations from the Divinity, but the seductive whispers of the Threnodian casting a lure for puppets to bite.
- Cantarella: As I told you before, Leviathan is a Threnodian who uses beliefs to spread a spiritual plague. You see, it requires a puppet to carry Its voice.
- Cantarella: The Sentinel realized the Threnodian's plots, and thus the first Dark Tide was launched as a hasty reaping of Ragunna and the Sentinel.
- Cantarella: To save Ragunna from the grim fate brought by the Dark Tide, the Sentinel split a portion of Their power and entrusted it to Napoli the Second.
- Cantarella: This power allowed him to imbue the Echoes with the strength to repel the Tacet Discords and purify the Dark Tide.
- Rover: And this power was released through the lantern depicted in the stained glass?
- Cantarella: Yes. The other part was kept inside Tyrvine.
- Cantarella: It was in that very moment, when the Sentinel's power had been weakened, that the Threnodian corrupted and merged with Their body, transforming the Sentinel into the form you see today.
- Rover: If what you're saying is true... the first Primus should've been on Imperator's side.
- Rover: Did the spiritual plague you mentioned affect him?
- Cantarella: Although the Primus's body remained whole, his soul was torn apart, caught in the ceaseless struggle between the Threnodian and the Sentinel within the body they now shared.
- Cantarella: The Sentinel's power failed to shield the Primus from the Threnodian's influence. As the two Divinities vied for dominance, he... succumbed to many misdeeds against his own people.
- Cantarella: In the end, during that private meeting, he confessed the truth to the head of the Fisalias and begged for release.
- Rover: So that's why he passed so abruptly...
- Cantarella: The Fisalia family was powerless against the Order at that time. Our only recourse was to submit to their cause and keep the secret locked away in our hearts, waiting for the right moment to act.
There's something else I want to ask about.
About Cartethyia.
- Rover: You were pretty harsh on Cartethyia.
- Cantarella: Before I learned of those records' secrets, I had only seen her from afar... heard tales of her accomplishments.
- Cantarella: While I would be willing to believe she stands with humanity.
- Cantarella: The more I allow myself to cling to such thoughts, the more I must strip them away and think rationally.
- Cantarella: It's only then that I can be certain these thoughts are my own and not the whispers I hear in the dark.
There's something else I want to ask about.
About the Divine Trials.
- Cantarella: ...
- Cantarella: A trivial experiment. A test designed to find those with the strongest wills and force them into resonating with Tyrvine.
- Cantarella: Yet after trying for so long, all we got was the answer "The Maiden is dead."
- Rover: (I don't think she wants to continue this conversation. Better to stop pressing.)
There's something else I want to ask about.
Cartethyia and I will take point again tomorrow.
- Cantarella: Hmm... And I don't intend to wait around either.
- Rover: Are you going to search those areas we passed before? Alone...?
- Cantarella: The more clues the better, don't you think?
- Cantarella: Oh and take this.
- Rover: ...
- Cantarella: Afraid I've slipped something extra in? Or perhaps you're contemplating dinner with me?
- Rover: I'm just curious why the matriarch of the Fisalia family packs her own food.
- Cantarella: Food is always an easy target for those who find me less than... pleasing.
- (Idle)
- Cartethyia: The Dark Tide...
- Cartethyia: But why then...?
- (Talk to Cartethyia)
- Cartethyia: Is there anything else you'd like to ask? I'll share with you all that I can remember.
About the Dark Tide.
- Cartethyia: It is "Paradise."
- Rover: I take it you don't mean that in a good way?
- Cartethyia: "It is a place where sickness, hunger, sorrow, despair, and dullness of heart cease to exist. There, deacons sing eternal hymns..."
- Cartethyia: From a literal standpoint, this line describes the Dark Tide perfectly.
- Cartethyia: In the beginning, the Dark Tide would claim only the areas it touched, assimilating all life as its vanguard to clear the way for its spread.
- Cartethyia: The dead... they would grow mouths and sing hymns, day and night. They didn't need eyes or ears, for their purpose was to spread blindness and madness.
- Cartethyia: Even those who did not believe were drawn irresistibly to the Leviathan's creed. And for those already deceived, it was all but inevitable.
- Cartethyia: When a soul is corrupted to its core, it will sing hymns without end on its sleepless journey to merge with the Dark Tide.
- Cartethyia: And when every faithful soul has returned to "Paradise," the land consumed by the Dark Tide will begin its pilgrimage, drawn by darkened skies, spreading its "gospel" to wherever it lands next.
- Cartethyia: The final act of the Dark Tide is.... the "Journeying Paradise."
- Rover: Is this the future you saw after coming into contact with the Dark Tide?
- Cartethyia: Yes...
There's something else I want to ask about.
About the Avinoleum.
- Cartethyia: That was its name before it became a Sonoro Sphere.
- Cartethyia: This seminary built on an island was not just a place of learning but also a sanctuary for raising dragon Echoes.
- Rover: What did they teach?
- Cartethyia: The Order's scriptures, geography, history, and combat skills.
- Rover: Shouldn't a seminary focus more on cultural arts?
- Cartethyia: This was a seminary reserved only for Resonators, so naturally, their talents were put to more practical use.
- Cartethyia: Besides, the doctrine of Salvation emphasized the importance of combat.
There's something else I want to ask about.
About the other swords.
- Cartethyia: The Sword of Discord—Hognis, and the Sword of Virtue—Haultir...
- Cartethyia: I can't remember anything else about Hognis.
- Cartethyia: But as for Haultir, it was my former blade.
- Cartethyia: How did it end up being one of the swords that can break the seal?
- Rover: Perhaps we'll know once we find it.
There's something else I want to ask about.
You don't need to stand so far away, you know.
- Cartethyia: It's... safer this way.
- Cartethyia: You should get some rest. We'll be counting on you again tomorrow.
Cartethyia:
- (Rest up for tomorrow)
Abby, are you alright?
- Abby: You mean besides being squashed behind that blue thing? Yeah, I guess.
- Abby: Listen, I figured something out about that frequency.
What?
- Abby: It's not a single frequency. It's like it's mixed up with something else, or kinda like... a piece of a cookie that's been crumbled in with everything else.
- Abby: Which is why it's so hard to get a good bite!
You tried to eat it?
- Abby: To see if it was a threat... I can now say with certainty that it isn't.
- Abby: But since it's a crumbly mess, other than taking up space, it's pretty useless.
- Rover: We might encounter something similar at the next two pedestals.
- Rover: Keep an eye on this for me, will you?
- Abby: Will do! You can count on me one hundred percent.
- The night passes in silence. Cantarella is the first to wake and notice the subtle sounds coming from outside.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: I thought I'd slip away quietly and avoid any fuss. But now, here I am, dealing with all of you.
- Cantarella: Since you're all here, how about a morning stroll?
- (Defeat the TDs)
- Cantarella: They're a lot feistier than before.
- Rover: Need help?
- (Defeat the TDs)
- Cantarella: Well, this is where our paths must part.
- Cartethyia: You're here for the Sentinel, why would you leave now?
- Cantarella: What I saw yesterday caught my attention. It may be tied to the Sentinel.
- Cantarella: And besides, I'd rather not spend the day twiddling my thumbs, seeing as your Gondola only holds two.
- Rover: Are you sure you want to go alone?
- Cantarella: Such concern for me. I do hope to see the fruits of your labor when I return.
- Cantarella: Mind if I take Tyrvine?
- Cartethyia: Go ahead, it's no use now that it's out of the pedestal... its energy is gone.
- Cantarella: It may still come in handy.
- Rover: ...I'll add you in my Terminal. Call me if you need help.
- Cantarella: Hehe... I just might ring you up once things are settled.
- You open your Terminal and exchange contact information. Cantarella leaves with Tyrvine.
- (Board Phaom)
- Cartethyia: If only I could still fight...
- Rover: Everyone's doing their part. Don't worry, nobody's perfect.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: The waterway up ahead is completely blocked.
- Cartethyia: That garden once housed dragon Echoes, now there's nothing left but Tacet Discords.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Hognis should be here somewhere.
- Cartethyia: This is where the Acolytes used to be tested.
- Cartethyia: Perhaps that stele over there has instructions on what to do?
- Rover: You don't remember from your own exam?
- Cartethyia: As the Blessed Maiden, I was exempt.
- Weathered Stele
Trust thy neighbor, else land will stay fallow. Unite the isles, else levees will stay unbuilt.
Brothers and sisters, let the sky, the land, and the seas be united.
The path to righteousness is lit by the sacred fire of Unity.
- Cartethyia: Sounds like they're talking about one of the three major belief systems, the faith of Unity.
- Cartethyia: Hmm, I don't remember the pieces being spread out like this.
- Cartethyia: Maybe we could find a way to move them?
- Rover: Let's give it a try, we still need to rebuild the waterway.
- Rover: There's no point in finding Hognis if we can't repair the waterway.
- Rover: At that distance, we should take a Wingray.
- Cartethyia: I'll have to guide it.
- (Take the Wingray)
- Rover: Hold on tight. Don't go falling off.
- Cartethyia: Mm-hmm...
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: That one! It isn't supposed to be here.
- Cartethyia: There's a Gravity Calibrator up ahead. Let's put it to good use.
- (Use Cuddle Wuddle shortcut)
- Rover: Cartethyia, grab on tight.
- Cartethyia: Huh? Oh, okay.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: That's our goal right there, but how do we move it?
- Rover: Help me guide the Wingray to the top of the statue.
- Cartethyia: Of course, but what do you have in mind?
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Is this really okay...?
- Rover: Saves us the trouble of finding some trigger mechanism.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: Are these the so-called dragons?
- Cartethyia: Is that a problem?
- Rover: The last one was bigger.
- Cartethyia: Which last one?
- Gehinnom. Ever heard of it? :Rover:
- Cartethyia: ...I used to ride it.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: It's Hognis!
- Cartethyia: There's a Gravity Calibrator behind the collapsed wall we just passed. We can use it to reorientate ourselves.
- Cartethyia: The Remnant Spark should be able to incinerate the thorns on the left.
- (Use Cuddle Wuddle shortcut)
- Rover: You can let go now. How are you feeling?
- Cartethyia: So soft, so cuddly... Cough... I mean I'm fine.
- (Pull up Hognis)
- Rover: It's stuck on the pedestal.
- Cartethyia: The waterway is still incomplete. We have to look elsewhere.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: It's identical to the last statue.
- Cartethyia: Same as before, I'll handle it.
- (Defeat the TDs)
- Cartethyia: Haah...
- Rover: Don't push yourself too hard.
- Cartethyia: It's okay, I'm just doing my part.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: We're still missing an area, but where...
- Cartethyia: Over there.
- Rover: That might be too high for the Wingray.
- Cartethyia: Same as before, I'll handle it.
- (Take the Wingray)
- Cartethyia: Ugh... just a bit more.
- Rover: I'll handle this bit, you rest.
- Rover: You've done well. Let's see if I can get a feel for how strong the gravitational forces are.
- Cartethyia: ...Alright.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: Cartethyia.
- Cartethyia: I'm ready.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: It's been a long time since I saw this place as it was meant to be.
- Cartethyia: So beautiful... I had forgotten.
- Rover: Do you want to stop for a while?
- Cartethyia: No. We have more important things to do.
- Rover: Let's check back on Hognis now.
- (Pull Hognis)
- Cartethyia: Let me remove the sword. At least you won't come to harm if it's a trap.
- Rover: We'll do it together.
- Cartethyia: But...
- Rover: If it's a trap, we stand a better chance together.
- Cartethyia: Huh, no traps...
- Rover: How does it feel to trust me?
- Cartethyia: It feels good...
- Cartethyia: Why don't you call Phaom over? Try whistling.
- Cartethyia: Like this.
- Rover: Here goes.
- "Phaom": *Waaaaagh*
- Cartethyia: Phaom heard you. Come on.
- (Board Phaom)
- Rover: The way you were when you saw the Plushie Echo... it was... unexpected.
- Rover: I think "The Martyrdom of Blessed Fleurdelys" needs a rewrite.
- Cartethyia: What's that?
- Cristoforo the playwright. Rover: A play about you written by
- Cartethyia: Oh, how did he portray me?
- Rover: Ahem... "I would rather hear the joyous songs of the masses than any solemn hymn of remembrance. Perhaps the Sentinel feels the same."
- Cartethyia: I'd never say that!
- Rover: In the end, no matter what anyone else says...
- Rover: As long as you stay true to yourself, everything will be alright.
- Rover: Doesn't matter if it's the Threnodian or the Sentinel. They don't get to change who you are.
- Cartethyia: ...
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: What you said back there... Thank you.
- (Place Hognis)
- Familiar Girl: Ha... Ha... Ha...
- A Hippocamp-like Creature: Fleurdelys, my Resonator, why dost thou persist?
- A Hippocamp-like Creature: Why abandon thy oath? Why hinder the spread of my gospel?
- Familiar Girl: You are a false Divinity... Gehinnom will reveal the truth.
- A Hippocamp-like Creature: Gehinnom, the lone dragon to have escaped?
- A Hippocamp-like Creature: The one blessed by the Dark Tide shall return to us. Continue thy disobedience at the risk of insanity.
- A Hippocamp-like Creature: Look around, thou hast none left.
- A Hippocamp-like Creature: My most beloved Resonator, why persist in the error of thy ways?
- Familiar Girl: I will never forget my cause.
- Familiar Girl: If Divinity takes up arms against the innocent, I will raise my sword against Divinity!
- Familiar Girl: With the support and hope of countless souls, I stand before you.
- Familiar Girl: They fell, so I may rise!
Cartethyia...
- Cartethyia: You saw that too?
- Cartethyia: Gehinnom, the one you mentioned earlier, what happened to him?
...
- Cartethyia: I understand...
He has found peace.
- Cartethyia: Thank you...
- Cartethyia: Anna... Casidomo... Olmnat... everyone...
- Cartethyia: I am finally... finally able to face all of you...
- Cartethyia: I am not your enemy, and your sacrifices were not in vain...
- Abby: Hey (Rover), just now there was...
- Rover: Shh... later.
- Rover: Someone needs a quiet moment.
- Cartethyia: Sorry you had to see me lose my composure.
- Cartethyia: I've found my true self again. It does not matter if I am indeed the Threnodian's Resonator.
- Cartethyia: Because I know who to stand by and who to cut down.
- Cartethyia: Some of my memories have returned, thanks to you and Cantarella.
- Rover: Feeling better?
- Cartethyia: No, not yet. Not until we free the Sentinel and defeat the Threnodian.
- Cartethyia: That is why we need to investigate the frequency you absorbed earlier.
- Abby: Aha, my turn to shine!
- Abby: That blue thingy in your Tacet Mark totally tastes like Threnodian!
You tried to eat it again?
- Abby: Of course not, it reeks! Just the smell alone is enough.
I thought so, but...
- Cartethyia: The Threnodian's energy has also been split... Could it be the work of the Sentinel?
- Abby:Like I said, it's mixed up with something. Too tough to chew.
- Cartethyia: If the Sentinel splits Their own energy to prepare the "true" Blessed Maiden...
- Cartethyia: Then why would They split off the Threnodian's energy, and then channel it through Hognis to the person who unsealed the passage?
Perhaps to weaken the Threnodian?
- Cartethyia: Possibly, but the Threnodian's energy would damage the body of the Sentinel's Resonator.
- Cartethyia: You wouldn't be affected since Abby resides within you.
- Cartethyia: But surely a second frequency would interfere with the resonance of the Sentinel's "true" Blessed Maiden.
- Rover: The answer might lie in the other frequencies that got mixed in.
Perhaps to strengthen the Blessed Maiden?
- Cartethyia: But the frequency of the Sentinel's "true" Blessed Maiden is supposed to clash with that of the Threnodian's.
- Cartethyia: A fusion of the two would endanger her life.
- Rover: The answer might lie in the other frequencies that got mixed in.
Perhaps the Sentinel didn't split that energy?
- Cartethyia: Huh?
- Rover: You are a Resonator born of the merge between the Sentinel and Threnodian. What if you used their abilities to split it yourself?
- Cartethyia: I haven't forgotten how I became a Resonator, and I know I don't have the ability to do that.
- Rover: Maybe your ability is being suppressed by the Threnodian.
- Cartethyia: Do you think the mixed frequencies Abby felt... came from me?
- Cartethyia: But why would I do that?
- Rover: The answer might lie behind the third sealed passageway.
- Rover: (Cartethyia is starting to make sense of things, but she'll need time to get her head straight.)
- Rover: Same as before? We'll keep watch tonight and continue our journey tomorrow.
- Cartethyia: Of course.
- (Idle)
- Cartethyia: I'll make sure all your efforts...
- Cartethyia: ...Will not be in vain.
- (Talk to Cartethyia
- Cartethyia: Is there anything you'd like to discuss?
Tell me about Gehinnom.
- Cartethyia: Dragon Tacet Discords lived here long before the Rinascita settlers arrived. With time and patience, the Order tamed them into Echoes.
- Cartethyia: They are fiercely intelligent and have their own social order.
- Cartethyia: Gehinnom... was their king, and the only one we believed could lift the siege of the Dark Tide.
- Cartethyia: We hoped he would bring us the truth. But... it seems he failed.
Discuss something else.
Tell me about the Sentinel's Resonator.
- Cartethyia: I am a Resonator born of the merge between the Sentinel and Threnodian. So whose Resonator am I?
- Cartethyia: Do I belong to the Threnodian... or the Sentinel? What does it really feel like to be the Sentinel's Resonator?
(You recount Jinhsi's story)
- Cartethyia: Jué's Resonator sounds like a woman of strong resolve.
- Cartethyia: I would like to meet her someday.
Discuss something else.
That's all for now.
- Cartethyia: I need to clear my mind. I won't let my feelings get in the way of our journey tomorrow.
- Cartethyia: You should get some rest.
I haven't seen you eat at all. Do you want some food? [Delicious dishes required]
- Cartethyia: But I...
Take out a Pizza Classica. [Pizza Classica required]
- Cartethyia: Oh, how it brings back memories... this is Egla Town's specialty.
- Cartethyia: Thank you. Just the sight of it is enough to make me smile.
- Rover: You're not going to eat it?
- Cartethyia: No, I can no longer taste anything, nor do I need food to survive.
- Cartethyia: How else would I have been able to last for so long in the Sonoro Sphere?
Take out a Pizza Tropicale. [Pizza Tropicale required]
- Cartethyia: Ew! Just the sight of it is enough to...
- Cartethyia: Is this what people eat nowadays?
- Rover: I see you are a Ragunnesi through and through.
- Cartethyia: Hmm?
- Rover: You're not going to eat it?
- Cartethyia: No!
- Cartethyia: I am grateful for your kindness, but I can no longer taste anything, thank goodness, nor do I need food to survive.
- Cartethyia: How else would I have been able to last for so long in the Sonoro Sphere?
- Cartethyia: You should save this food for someone who truly appreciates it.
Take out a Laurus Salad. [Laurus Salad required]
- Cartethyia: Yum! Laurus Salad, my favorite!
- Rover: A man named Bardolino once told me that the Sentinel recommended this dish to him during the Carnevale.
- Cartethyia: Eh... the voice he heard was mine.
????
- Cartethyia: "The body is a temple for the mind. To keep your mind sharp, do consume healthy food..." That's probably what I said.
...
- Cartethyia: After I became a Resonator, the voice all the Laurates heard was my own.
- Cartethyia: Still, the Laurus Salad is undeniably the best dish out there!
- Rover: So... will you have some?
- Cartethyia: No, I can no longer taste anything, nor do I need food to survive.
- Cartethyia: How else would I have been able to last for so long in the Sonoro Sphere?
- Cartethyia: You should save your food for those who require sustenance.
Good night.
- Cartethyia: It's late. You should get some rest.
- (Call Cantarella)
- ...
- Cantarella: Good evening. How goes progress on your end?
(Explain what you learned)
- Cantarella: So... a portion of energy was split from the Threnodian.
- Rover: Do you trust Cartethyia now?
- Cantarella: ...(Rover), the soul is like a boiling cauldron.
- Cantarella: You may know the ingredients you add, but who can predict what would come of it?
- Cantarella: It might be an elixir, or perhaps a poison. Or, perhaps, it will simply fizzle away into nothingness.
- Cantarella: I've watched it happen far too many times.
- Cantarella: One must never grow complacent.
- Rover: So... any updates on your end?
- Cantarella: I found several things which may tip the scales in our favor.
- Rover: Such as?
- Cantarella: It would take too long to explain... and you deserve your rest, don't you?
- Cantarella: I will be there when your journey ends. We will speak of it then.
- (Rest up for tomorrow)
Abby?
- Abby: What! My eyes are still peeled.
See anything useful?
- Abby: Nope... nada, zilch!
- Abby: I can't shake the feeling that the two frequencies are somehow connected.
- Rover: Imperator has the power to split energy, and Leviathan to merge and assimilate...
- Rover: So, the source of that connection might very well be Leviathan's powers at work.
- Abby: Yeah... could be?
- Abby: Isn't there one last place to go? Who knows what you'll need to cram into your Tacet Mark next!
- Soft singing rouses you from a light sleep.
- Rover: Is that Cartethyia?
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Sorry I woke you.
It's fine, I couldn't sleep anyway.
It's fine, I was awake anyway.
- Rover: Were you singing just then?
- Cartethyia: Yes, a farewell song from the people of Rinascita. We usually sing it when a friend is about to leave.
- Cartethyia: During that battle, I never got to say goodbye or mourn their passing.
- Cartethyia: And before my memories came back, I wasn't sure if I was worthy of paying them my respects.
- Cartethyia: So now, even though I know these are just lingering frequencies, and they might not understand me...
- Cartethyia: I just... I want to say goodbye properly, and thank them.
- Cartethyia: Do you think I'm... fooling myself?
It's fine, I was awake anyway.
- Rover: No... I'm sure they can feel what's in your heart.
- Rover: I'm not just saying that to comfort you. I believe it's possible.
- Rover: I once saw two friends, one who was already dead, reconcile with each other from within a Sonoro Sphere.
- Rover: When frequencies are concentrated in one place, it's possible that their Reverberations could still carry traces of human will.
- Cartethyia: Meaning...
- Rover: They might still be able to hear and feel.
- Rover: Your voice, your goodbyes, your feelings... could have reached them.
- Rover: After all, these frequencies are strong enough to manifest in the real world.
- Cartethyia: Really?
- Rover: They haven't made a move against us. They must still remember you, which means they can probably hear you, too.
- Cartethyia: I'm glad...
- Cartethyia: No. If they can still hear and feel, then the time for goodbyes hasn't come.
- Cartethyia: I need to give them a real victory.
- Rover: You can ease up a little. As long as their obsession holds and the Sonoro Sphere stays intact, they won't vanish.
- Cartethyia: Bound by obsession... till relieved of duty.
- Rover: Cartethyia?
- Cartethyia: Nothing, just a stray thought.
- Rover: Hey, since we know you don't carry any blame, should I call you Cartethyia or Fleurdelys?
- Cartethyia: Cartethyia... Yes, Cartethyia will do.
- Cartethyia: I want to stay here for a moment. Will you keep me company?
Of course.
Alright, but only for a moment.
- Cartethyia: Good morning...um...
- Rover: Morning Cartethyia.
- Cartethyia: It's time to go. Today is the day we settle this.
- Rover: Mm-hmm. Let's do it.
- "Phaom": *Waaaaagh*
- Cartethyia: Phaom is telling us to hurry up.
- (Fly to Phaom)
- Cartethyia: I wonder how Cantarella is doing.
- Rover: We can call her if you're worried.
- Cartethyia: Wait, I'm not ready yet!
- Cantarella: Ever the early riser. Did you call to say good morning?
- Cartethyia: Good morning...
- Cantarella: Is something the matter, Cartethyia?
- Cartethyia: I just wanted to know how you're doing.
- Cantarella: ... Ah, so you do care. Good to know my efforts weren't wasted.
- Cartethyia: She...hung up. Was that meant as encouragement?
- Rover: Everyone shows kindness in their own way.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: Over there, that's Haultir!
- Rover: (That painting...)
- (Pull up Haultir)
- Cartethyia: Cadanto!
- Rover: He's not who you think he is.
- (Pull up Haultir)
- Cartethyia: ...
- Cartethyia: Let's finish rebuilding the waterway.
- (Used "Door of Unity")
- Rover: Identical to the last one.
- Rover: But we have to remove the shackles.
- (Used "Door of Unity")
- Cartethyia: Bound by obsession, till relieved of duty.
- Cartethyia: Cadanto, won't you let go?
- (Defeat Cadanto)
- Cartethyia: I'm going to break the chains.
- Rover: Wait, I have an idea.
- (Smash the obelisk)
- Cartethyia: That is... impressive.
- (Used "Door of Unity")
- Rover: Same as before...
- Cartethyia: Watch out!
- (Smash the obelisk)
- Rover: Only two left now.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: It's coming back faster each time.
- (Used "Door of Unity")
- Cartethyia: Watch out!
- (Defeat Cadanto)
- Cartethyia: Does that mean... he's finally been freed?
- Rover: ...
- (Smash the obelisk)
- Rover: There, now we can smash that statue back in.
- Cartethyia: The morph painting over there should allow us to reach the highest point.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: Did you know that Echo well?
- Cartethyia: Cadanto was my first Echo after I joined the Order.
- Cartethyia: When I stood against the Threnodian, he took a mortal blow meant for me and fell to the Dark Tide...
- Cartethyia: I never thought he'd come back as a Tacet Discord.
- Rover: But he still recognized this sword, and was still trying to protect it.
- Cartethyia: Haultier was my saber. I practiced withit often in sparring sessions with Cadanto.
- Cartethyia: Looks like he's still trapped in the past, doesn't it?
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: We must finish this and free Cadanto.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Rover: He's back again.
- (Defeat Cadanto)
- (Cutscene plays)
- Abby: He's a tough cookie!
- Abby: I wanna eat...
- Abby: Eh?
- Rover: I'll handle this.
- (Cutscene ends)
- Cartethyia: Please allow him to fight at your side.
- (Place Haultir on the pedestal)
- Echoing Voice: Fleurdelys, wilt thou return to me?
- Familiar Girl: Someone must expose your lies. As long as there is a sliver of hope, I will not give up.
- Echoing Voice: Is that so? Then I shall reveal the truth.
- Echoing Voice: Fleurdelys...
- Echoing Voice: Why dost thou resonate with me?
- Familiar Girl: What...?
- Echoing Voice: Why dost thou hear into the minds of the faithful?
- Echoing Voice: Why dost thou act as my Oracle?
- Echoing Voice: All this, and yet thou does not question?
- Familiar Girl: Shut up!
- Echoing Voice: The answer... is this.
- Echoing Voice: Fleurdelys... Thou art my creation!
- Echoing Voice: I made thee. Thy life, thy hopes, thy will, thy past.
- Echoing Voice: All that thou are, I made "whole," I made "perfect."
- Echoing Voice: I fed upon the trust, adoration, and longing heaped upon thee by the masses.
- Echoing Voice: Thy resonance brought forth the second Dark Tide.
- Familiar Girl: Ahhhh!!!!
- Abby: Wh-wh-what?! Those clashing frequencies just... calmed down?!
- Abby: That feels way better.
- Cartethyia: Looks like Abby's settled down. It seems we were both affected.
So it seems...
- Cartethyia: I'm starting to remember everything, just like you sensed I would.
- Cartethyia: The force that modulated the Sentinel and Threnodian's frequencies came from me.
- Cartethyia: Though it wasn't what I originally intended, I think having you take it from here may be for the best.
Why do you say that?
- Cartethyia: This crown... it turned into what it is after the Dark Tide came.
- Cartethyia: This is what the Threnodian uses to control Its Resonator.
- Cartethyia: When the Threnodian unleashed the second Dark Tide, "I"—as the Cartethyia you see before you—split the part of myself that wished to live after seeing the corruption that stood before me.
- Cartethyia: I chose to be broken from the very beginning to escape the Threnodian's inevitable grasp.
- Cartethyia: You see, when I destroyed the Threnodian that had taken over the Sentinel's body, It immediately began to assimilate into Fleurdelys, Its Resonator.
- Cartethyia: She was the part of "me" that was left after I split myself. She retained the most power, and now hopes to one day destroy everything... even herself.
- Cartethyia: The Threnodian's endless whispers and screeches are slowly chipping away at Fleurdelys' resolve.
- Cartethyia: That's why she had no choice but to split her power's frequencies, just to buy herself more time.
- Cartethyia: But using such Resonance abilities came at a cost. The split frequencies... they needed a vessel.
Your memories...
- Cartethyia: We don't have much time left.
- Cartethyia: So, you see... I have been instinctively searching for someone to wield that power.
- Cartethyia: All that was given, possessed, or taken by the false Divinity, I must pass to the one capable of resisting It.
- Cartethyia: This is how I intend to lay the false Divinity to rest.
- Cartethyia: Not just Its life, but Its very existence for all time.
So you're saying that behind the last seal lies...
- Cartethyia: Fleurdelys, the part of me I left behind. The one that also contains the Threnodian.
- Cartethyia: Bound by obsession, till relieved of duty.
- Cartethyia: Today, the part of me that wishes to live on will vanish. Is it because my wish has finally been fulfilled?
- Cartethyia: Will you accompany me one last time?
- (Board Phaom)
- Cartethyia: Ah... seems like I won't get a chance to apologize to Cantarella.
- Cartethyia: Her preparations were futile.
- Cartethyia: ... Please tell her I'm sorry.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cartethyia: This was where everything started, the origin of the second Dark Tide.
- Cartethyia: I have one final request. Now that you have the power to split and merge energy, there is something only you can do.
- Cartethyia: Please... use the connection I still share with Fleurdelys to bring the last fragments of her tortured consciousness here.
- Cartethyia: Then, with your power, remake us as one... and finally release us from this world.
Why...
- Cartethyia: That way... the Threnodian will remain trapped forever in a lifeless shell, unable to return to this world.
But doesn't that mean the end of the part of you that wishes to live?
- Cartethyia: I have lived my life to the fullest. I would like the ones who are left to do so as well.
- Cartethyia: Cartethyia has had her wish fulfilled. Now it's Fleurdelys' turn.
- Cartethyia: She seeks self-destruction, to end the Divinity, and with it, her torment.
- Cartethyia: She has lost all hope and believes that no rescue is possible.
- Cartethyia: Remaking us as one is the only way I can think of to fulfill her wish... or rather, grant her what "we" wish.
- Cartethyia: I was born to this world cursed. The Threnodian intended for me to live as a threat to others.
- Cartethyia: But the puppet born of Its wickedness will become the prison that seals Its fate.
- Cartethyia: "I" shall be whole again, true to myself at last.
- Cartethyia: A fitting end, don't you think?
- Cartethyia: I have reached my final destination. One last swan song, and then the lights go out!
- Rover: I understand...
- Cartethyia: Thank you...
- Cartethyia: And... forgive me.
- (Cutscene plays)
- Abby: Ahhhhh... I can't hold it any longer...
- Cartethyia: Why? Why are you doing this?! Neither Cartethyia nor Fleurdelys should continue to exist!
- Cartethyia: Don't go...
- Rover: I heard your request...
- Rover: But I prefer to handle this my way.
- (Cutscene ends)
- Cantarella: Not even whole, yet still ever so determined.
- Cartethyia: Cantarella...
- Cantarella: Phaom brought me here. I'd have shown myself earlier...
- Cantarella: But it didn't seem like the right time to interrupt.
- Cantarella: Looks like what I prepared could still be put to good use.
- Cartethyia: Tyrvine...
- Cantarella: The Sentinel's Sword. It will help you resist the Threnodian's attack.
- Cartethyia: What's inside?
- Cantarella: To pass the Divine Trials, every potential Maiden must resonate with the Sentinel through Tyrvine.
- Cantarella: Those who survive receive fragments of truth, but at a cost. Memories lost in varying degrees.
- Cantarella: The lost memories fall into this Sonoro Sphere, each carrying faint traces of the Sentinel's power. The power within those fragments of truth.
- Cantarella: Tyrvine absorbs this energy.
- Cantarella: The Sentinel's energy flows through you. You are more than worthy of wielding this sword.
- Cantarella: But you, Cartethyia... you alone must choose to wield it. Only then will it become the "Blessed Maiden's Sword."
- Cartethyia: Does it also hold the sacrifice you made?
- Cantarella: No... My sacrifice was used up long ago.
- Cantarella: At the time I resonated with the Sentinel, I saw..."you" through Their distorted eyes.
- Cantarella: Or rather, I saw Fleurdelys battling the Threnodian.
- Cantarella: In that moment, I made a sacrifice that would shift the balance of power.
- Cartethyia: Was it...
- Cantarella: The energy I received from the Sentinel's Second Awakening.
- Cantarella: I split it from myself and offered it back to the Sentinel so They could, for a moment, regain control of Their body.
- Cantarella: Only by doing this could Fleurdelys seize the moment to kill the already tainted Sentinel.
- Cantarella: So...
- Cantarella: The real Blessed Maiden is dead.
- Cantarella: But there is no reason why the "false" Blessed Maiden cannot herself become the "true" Blessed Maiden, is there?
- Cantarella: A person of true character should never be defined by an inanimate blade.
- Cantarella: Both you and I were cursed to be mere playthings of the Threnodian, but that doesn't mean we cannot reshape our fate.
- Cartethyia: Thank you... in spite of my curse, my life of hardship, I must still save what is true.
- Cantarella: Had you not stopped the second Dark Tide... Well, it is we who should be thanking you.
- Cantarella: Huh... at least you can't accuse me of ingratitude... I just need a moment's rest.
- Cantarella: Apologies, but they're doing something rather important.
- Cantarella: Please...
- Rover: Abby?
- Abby: Yep, I get it. We gonna yoink Leviathan out?
- Abby: But all you have left is the energy I ate before. Are you sure that's enough?
- Rover: Some things, you just gotta do.
- (Push the doors)
- (Cutscene plays)
- Fleurdelys: Come to me, mighty godkiller.
- (Cutscene ends)
- (After some time)
- You would betray "yourself?"
- No... this is not betrayal.
- Cantarella: A personof true character should never be defined by an inanimate blade.
- Cantarella: Both you and I were cursed to be mere playthings of the Threnodian, but that doesn't mean we cannot reshape our fate.
- Rover: In the end, no matter what anyone else says...
- Rover: As long as you stay true to yourself, everything will be alright.
- Cartethyia: This is me being true to myself!
- (Make your choice)
- (Cutscene plays)
- Fleurdelys: Imperator's? No... Your own power?
- Fleurdelys: Useless!
- Cartethyia: As long as I can save the person in front of me...
- Cartethyia: I am not useless!
- Cartethyia: No retreat!
- Cartethyia: At least... break, damn it!
- Cartethyia: I tried everything... How could this be...
- Cartethyia: Again... I failed...
- Cartethyia: I'm sorry...
- Cartethyia: This warm light must not fade...
- Cartethyia: Take my power, my blessings, my past. Seek out a future...
- Cartethyia: Where I am your blade. We'll find it together.
- Cartethyia: (Rover).
- (Cutscene ends)
- (Defeat Fleurdelys)
- (Cutscene plays - The Ending She Desired)
- Fleurdelys: Well done.
- Cartethyia: Seek out a future... where I am your blade. We'll find it together.
- Abby: The frequency in her body is already...
- Imperator: Arbiter, despair not, for all is not lost.
- (Cutscene ends)
- Imperator: Arbiter, forgive me for meeting thee in such a form.
- Rover: Imperator? I thought you...
- Imperator: I safeguarded my core data, lest I be wholly assimilated.
Can you save Cartethyia?
- Imperator: Arbiter, dost thou remember the covenant we made?
No, I don't remember.
Yes, I read the message left behind.
- Imperator: Soon, thou shalt recall all.
- Imperator: Thou didst desire that I uncover the Threnodian's true nature. So I set forth a condition: that my root privileges be unbound, that I might act without restriction.
- Rover: With unrestricted access, you were going to...
- Imperator: Merge with Leviathan, a measure of last resort. At the time, I had no other recourse.
- Imperator: So I allowed it to believe it hadst prevailed.
Why?
How could you!
- Imperator: The Threnodian is a taint upon civilization. Only by partaking of Its blight could I seek to comprehend It.
- Rover: So, what did you learn?
- Imperator: The Threnodian cannot be undone whilst civilization endureth. Even It knows not the means of Its own destruction.
- Imperator: But we may yet shackle It.
- Rover: What role does Cartethyia play in this?
- Imperator: When Leviathan merged with me, It breached my mind.
- Imperator: I offered knowledge of the "Resonator," yet concealed one small truth.
- Imperator: Beings such as we may bear but a single Resonator.
- Imperator: The Threnodian used my return pod to conceive an entity known as "Fleurdelys," to make her Its Resonator.
- Imperator: After centuries of failure, by sheer trial it found success but once.
- Imperator: We were of one body. Therefore, when Fleurdelys became Leviathan's Resonator, she also became mine.
- Imperator: But mark this well. To the Sentinel, a Resonator is an anchor; to the Threnodian, they are but a shackle.
- Rover: What made you decide to leave Tyrvine with the Fisalias?
- Imperator: When first I did merge with the Threnodian, I sought only but to bide, awaiting a Resonator of steadfast will to join me in the war against the Threnodian.
- Imperator: After Fleurdelys's conception, Cantarella became my safeguard.
- Imperator: But had Fleurdelys fallen to the Threnodian's sway, as long as one mortal using Tyrvine passed the Second Awakening to become my own Resonator...
- Imperator: Then the law that no being shall bear more than one Resonator at a time wouldst have been shattered.
- Imperator: This wouldst rend asunder the frequencies of I, Imperator, Leviathan, and Fleurdelys in a tempest of chaos, and the Threnodian wouldst not escape destruction.
- Imperator: Such was my intention... yet Cantarella chose another way.
- Not all journey toward a final destination. Some are destined to pave the way.
- Take my energy. I will find a way out myself.
- I trust this will serve to pave the way for you.
- Imperator: She forfeited all the power of the Second Awakening, surrendering it unto me.
- Imperator: With that newfound power, I did briefly regain control, and in that moment, compelled Fleurdelys to strike at my form as it was, corrupted by the Threnodian.
- Rover: But that wasn't your original plan.
- Imperator: No... it was an unexpected variable.
- Imperator: A plan I could not have conceived... or rather, a plan born of hope.
- Imperator: Perhaps this is the influence humanity has wrought upon me... To change is to be free.
- Imperator: Fleurdelys overcame the fate Leviathan ordained, and so too did Cantarella walk a path unscribed in my records.
- Imperator: Though the journey was fraught with twists, we stand victorious.
- Rover: I don't know if the end justifies the means.
- Imperator: Arbiter... was I wrong?
- Rover: ...I can't speak for what I wasn't a part of.
- Rover: You did what you could do in that moment. Anyone still standing because of it doesn't get to judge.
- Imperator: Arbiter, in the few moments we have left, might I speak with Fleurdelys?
- Rover: Call her Cartethyia, that's what she wanted.
- Rover: How do you intend to bring her back?
- Imperator: Remnants of her frequency linger within thy Tacet Mark. So long as a conduit is established, her frequency shall be reborn into her body.
What do I use as a conduit?
- Imperator: Me.
- Imperator: This dying breeze hath little time left. Let it guide her on its final journey.
- Imperator: Arbiter. One question remains...
- Imperator: Did I fulfill the charge set upon me?
You fulfilled your duty, Imperator.
You may rest now, Imperator.
- Imperator: Arbiter, take these words to the Fisalias. "From this day forth. You are free."
- Imperator: Cartethyia. Awaken.
- Cartethyia: You are...
- Imperator: I am Imperator, a being that owes you a great debt. I... have a question I wish to ask thee.
- Imperator: Dost thou rage at how life has unfolded? Dost thou renounce faith or hold resentment?
- Imperator: If thou wishes to forget, I can erase the past from thy memory.
- Cartethyia: ...Such memories do bring me pain, but... that is evidence of their truth.
- Cartethyia: Without the truth, I would not have had to strength to carry on.
- Cartethyia: The truth is a beacon in the maelstrom of my life.
- Cartethyia: And I would rather suffer for it and rejoice in it than abandon it to blissful ignorance.
- Cartethyia: I am true to myself. Please don't make me forget who I am.
- Imperator: I have heard thy wish.
- Fleurdelys: If "I" go, you will be one step closer to perfection.
- Cartethyia: No... if you do that, "I" wouldn't be "me."
- Cartethyia: To deny my own self and my experiences means any perfection I reach will be hollow.
- Cartethyia: I would be "heartless."
- Imperator: Thou hast need of Divinity no longer.
- Imperator: Though my power hath waned, I now offer thee my blessings.
Let the winds of the past depart. The ships of this new era no longer need their guidance.
- Imperator: Though the tide's rage is endless, humanity shall yet embark upon new voyages.
- Imperator: No longer shall scroll and prophecy bind, but by thy will shall forge a new era.
- Imperator: Cartethyia, thou art worthy to bear the title of Blessed Maiden.
- Cartethyia: (Rover)...
- Cartethyia: I have never seen you look as gentle as you did during our fight.
- Rover: Let me ask you this one more time. Should I call you Cartethyia or Fleurdelys?
- Cartethyia: I want to say that it doesn't matter...
- Cartethyia: But... since you first met me as Cartethyia, that is who I shall be.
- Rover: Very well, Cartethyia.
- Cartethyia: I thought I saw the Sentinel just now...
They saved you.
They accepted you as Their Blessed Maiden.
- Cartethyia: So where are They...
- Cartethyia: What do we do now?
- Cartethyia: I can't return to Ragunna as Fleurdelys, and I need not serve Divinity anymore.
- Cartethyia: Who I was, and my past aspirations, are all gone. I feel... empty.
You can always visit whomever you want.
- Cartethyia: Not a bad idea.
- Cartethyia: But right now... I don't want to think about anything...
You can always eat whatever you want.
- Cartethyia: Not a bad idea.
- Cartethyia: But right now... I don't want to think about anything...
You can always go wherever you want.
- Cartethyia: Not a bad idea.
- Cartethyia: But right now... I don't want to think about anything...
You don't have to do anything for now.
- Cartethyia: Mmm... you're right.
- Cartethyia: I'll stay here for a while longer, is that alright?
- (Cutscene plays - Slaying the Evil)
- Leviathan: The one who defies hath banished herself to the high tower.
- Leviathan: Cleansing the remnants of the Dark Tide.
- Leviathan: Yet...
- Leviathan: She knew not
- Leviathan: That the Dark Tide would never recede.
- Leviathan: She shall prove the most loyal servant to Divinity...
- Fleurdelys: You are wrong.
- Fleurdelys: Humanity has its flaws
- Fleurdelys: And you've exploited our weaknesses
- Fleurdelys: But...
- Fleurdelys: We shall not go down without a fight.
- Leviathan: You...
- Leviathan: You are no longer whole!
- Leviathan: You are not the "perfect" creation I conceived!
- Leviathan: Be that as it may...
- Leviathan: How long shall thy resolve endure?
- Fleurdelys: The righteous will always rise to defeat evil.
- Fleurdelys: I will defeat you.
- Fleurdelys: And await my own defeat.
- Fleurdelys: Whoever it is
- Fleurdelys: The tide of resistance never ceases.
- Fleurdelys: False Divinity
- Fleurdelys: Suffer my disobedience!
- Fleurdelys: I cannot... fall now...
- Fleurdelys: No wall is impregnable.
- Fleurdelys: Humanity has its flaws
- Fleurdelys: Exploited by the Threnodian.
- Fleurdelys: But...
- Fleurdelys: We shall not go down without a fight.
- Fleurdelys: The waves of resistance shall never cease.
- Fleurdelys: Mankind will not be oppressed by the Threnodian...
- Fleurdelys: Now...
- Fleurdelys: Be free!
- Fleurdelys: Light. Come hither!
- Fleurdelys: Make way for your destroyer.
- Fleurdelys: Come to me...
- Fleurdelys: Mighty godkiller...
- (Cutscene ends)
- (Talk to Cartethyia)
- Cartethyia: (Rover), please keep what happened between us.
Are you alright?
- Cartethyia: Yes. I'm fine!
Of course.
- Cartethyia: Thank you.
No one else can know?
- Cartethyia: No. Please do as I ask!
- Cartethyia: I know what I want to do now.
What's that?
- Cartethyia: I want to surpass you.
Huh?
- Cartethyia: You're strong, stronger than me.
- Cartethyia: You could defy my wishes, ignore my pleas, defeat me, and in the end save me.
- Cartethyia: But... if one day you find yourself in a similar predicament to mine. Who's going to save you?
- Cartethyia: Your bond with the Sentinel is now a bond with me.
- Cartethyia: You were Their "Arbiter," and They were your helper. But I want to go beyond that.
- Cartethyia: I want to be more than someone who works on trifles like harmonizing the frequencies between you and Abby.
- Abby: Hey, I'm more than a trifle! Uh, wait- didn't realize you're the reason I stopped feeling icky...
- Cartethyia: Should the day come when you find yourself in a similar predicament to mine...
- Cartethyia: I'd need to defy your wishes, ignore your pleas, defeat you, and be your savior.
You speak as if I were a villain.
- Cartethyia: Hm... If that were to ever happen, wouldn't I need greater power to set you right?
- Cartethyia: Just like how you set me right. Would you deny me the chance to return the favor?
I'm not that easy to surpass.
- Cartethyia: Then I shall not rest until I have surpassed you.
Bold words from someone I handily beat.
- Cartethyia: Careful now, your provocations work far too well on me.
When that day comes, I'll be counting on you.
- Cartethyia: Since I swore to be your blade, it follows that I must hone myself to a keen edge.
- Rover: Right now, you're less a Blessed Maiden and more a steely knight.
- Cartethyia: Well, my one creed is to be true to myself. In that sense...
- Cartethyia: I am rather headstrong.
- Cartethyia: A knight... Yes, perhaps I'll be a knight errant, that does sound appealing.
- Cartethyia: But... truthfully, so much of this world feels unfamiliar to me now. Will you be there to guide me, should I need it?
Absolutely.
- Cartethyia: Then it is agreed.
One minute you want to fight, the next you're asking for help?
- Cartethyia: Sigh... I'll find my own way then.
- Cartethyia: One last thing, you should speak with Cantarella. I can sense she made it out of Sonoro Sphere, safely.
And you?
- Cartethyia: I'll go later.
- (Optional - Talk to Cartethyia)
- Cartethyia: You should speak with Cantarella. I'll go once the opportunity arises.
Your crown...
- Cartethyia: Oh, that? I can actually control how it appears.
- Cartethyia: This crown... can remind me of things that I should never forget.
- (Head to the designated location)
- Cantarella: So, you haven't forgotten me.
Sorry, everything got so hectic.
I didn't forget about you.
- Cantarella: Hehe... I shouldn't put my guest on the spot. Moving on...
- Cantarella: How is Cartethyia?
- Rover: She needs time.
- Cantarella: Understandable. Her transition back to mortal life is a drastic departure from her former existence.
- Cantarella: Now, I suppose I should thank you.
- Rover: What's this?
- Cantarella: Bloodpact's Pledge. A symbol of the unbreakable pact between you and the Fisalia family.
- Cantarella: Each head of the family is entitled to one and only one.
- Cantarella: You vanquished the Threnodian and brought peace at last to the Fisalias. You should have it.
- Cantarella: Consider this a token of gratitude.
- Rover: Is that the only one?
- Cantarella: You wish for more? Or is there something else you'd have me do?
I want your position.
- Cantarella: You ask that I step down? Only a Fisalia by blood is eligible to head the family. But, I could make you a Fisalia consort.
(Sounds like a raw deal.Sounds like a raw deal./
But I'm a strong independent woman.But I'm a strong independent woman.) - (Is that a proposal?Is that a proposal?/
And also quite adaptable, I'm sure. And also quite adaptable, I'm sure.)
Cantarella: I was joking.
- Cantarella: Sigh... you missed your chance.
Or I was wise enough to avoid it.
I want you to make peace with the Montellis.
- Cantarella: Oh? (Rover), do you intend to mediate between the two families?
Any deadly feud I should know about?
- Cantarella: Tiresome feuds rarely last between two formidable houses.
- Cantarella: But alas, there is only so much light. Some branches greedily reach for more than they need, and the forgotten are doomed to wither in the dark.
- Cantarella: Disagreements lie not only between families, but also within them.
Sounds worse than a Calamity Class Tacet Discord...
- Cantarella: How fortunate, I now find myself with time to fix things.
- Cantarella: If you're interested, I'd gladly teach you how to "care" for a family such as ours.
I'm still thinking.
- Cantarella: Though, of course, I may change my mind at any moment.
- Cantarella: So, you'd do well to visit often.
- Rover: Before I forget, Imperator left a message.
- Cantarella: ...Tell me, I'm ready.
- Rover: "From this day forth. You are free."
- Cantarella: ...I'll remember that.
- Rover: Will you tell the others?
- Cantarella: I've spent so long preparing for this day. A few more will hardly make a difference.
- Rover: I'll take my leave then.
- Cantarella: More tea before you go?
