Pre-First Lament[]

Post First Lament[]

  • 10,000 years before LD — There have been 5 global laments and more than 300,000 regional laments since 10,000 years before LD until LD. [1]
  • ? — Rover makes enemies out of many organizations. One of said organizations creates Camellya to assassinate Rover. It is likely that this organization is behind her Resonance Awakening, as she is an Artificial Resonator.
  • ? — The Somnoire is created to store and analyze peoples' dreams and search them for potential solutions to the Lament. The Ivory Gatekeeper and Ebony Gatekeeper are created as the Somnoire's guardians, and Rover is granted the authority of "Dreamwalker" within its system.

Black Shores[]

  • ? — The Tethys System is created by an unknown civilization.
  • ? — The Shorekeeper is created in a piece of light blue crystal made of remnant energy, gathered from the "Anchor" on the Black Shores Archipelago. Rover touches the crystal, and their frequency resonated with the crystal, awakening the Shorekeeper and allowing her to take a human form.
  • ? — Rover founds the Black Shores organization as a way to gather people to solve the Lament. Tethys selects the people that Rover recruits. The organization provides evacuation and support relief for locations devastated by the Lament, and brings back the Reverberation data for Shorekeeper to analyze.

Jinzhou[]

  • During ancient times, Jué descends upon Mt. Firmament alongside a colossal vehicle that serves as its hibernation pod. Having sustained serious injuries, the Sentinel loses the ability to restore time, instead only being able to stop and rewind it. [2]
  • A large horde of Tacet Discords attack Huanglong. Hongzhen suffers greatly from this outbreak, so Jué erects a barrier of slowed time around all of Mt. Firmament to protect the people on the island.
    • Rover experiences the placement of this temporal barrier.

Rinascita[]

  • In the ancient era, Rinascita is known as the Realm of a Thousand Islands.[3]
    • Well-versed in the ocean, the Fisalia Family extracts toxins and medicines from deep-sea plants, harnesses vast underwater resources, and revels in great fortune and widespread renown during this era.
  • The Genesis Nexus exists on Rinascita before it is settled. [4]
  • The civilization of the archipelago is threatened by the Lament and Waveworn disasters, and a group of displaced refugees board a mass of ships known as the Ark and embark on a quest to find new civilization. The trip is hazardous, but the Fisalia family, one of the founders of the Ark, is guided safely by an unknown voice and the light of the Genesis Nexus, leading the fleet to a lush archipelago. One of these islands later become Ragunna.
    • The refugees are of vastly different backgrounds, cultures, ideologies.
    • Due to relentless disasters and geological distance, the nation remains isolated from the rest of the world for many years.
  • The rulers of Rinascita gather in Fagaceae Peninsula for secret councils, and carve Oracles in the stone and trees.
  • There exists two divinities in the land, one ruling the skies, the Sentinel Imperator, and the other ruling the seas, the Threnodian, Leviathan. The two divinities are eternally at odds with each other, and the people wage wars against each other over their different faiths.
    • At some point, a war ignites in Ragunna, and the Fisalia family are defeated and driven out. Thessaleo Fells is their domain, and the Porto-Veno Castle belongs to them.
  • The Dark Tide ravages a great part of Rinascita, only to be stopped by Napoli II. He then rebuilds Ragunna and establishes the Order of the Deep, leading them as their first Primus.
    • The Fisalia family lays the deep-sea faith foundation of the Order as a means of securing the stability of their family's power over Ragunna.
  • Napoli II dies shortly after becoming Primus. On his death bed, he tells his believers that the Sentinel, once whole, has been rent by warring beliefs, and the Dark Tide is born from Their wounds- however, a Blessed Maiden will become the 'Enlightened One', and the Divinity will return to its true form, and Rinascita will then be free of suffering.
  • Following Napoli II's death, the Order of the Deep elects a new Primus, and the spread of the faith surpasses previous reach. However, their doctrine changes everything regarding the Sentinel, including its statues, anecdotes, and proverbs.
    • Only the Fisalia Family and the forebearers of the Ark know the true appearance of the Sentinel.
  • The Fisalia family loses control over the Order of the Deep, and members begin experiencing strange nightmares involving a shadow of a giant fish beneath the sea. Many members leave the family, becoming devout believers of the Order, or moving to the seaport to distance themselves from other forces.
  • The original tradition of the Pilgrim's Sail is established as an honorable act of devotion to the Sentinel. All who embark on the journey are devout, but it is said that only those blessed by the Sentinel return with the promised glory and honor. Historically, the number of survivors is vanishingly small. [5]
    • Due to the high cost of the pilgrimages, the Order places a heavy tax on the commoners.

Recent Past[]

Jinzhou[]

  • Battle of Gorges of Spirits

Rinascita[]

  • The Riccioli Islands maintain independence from the governance of the Order of the Deep throughout the years, and continue to preserve the customs from the Age of a Thousand Islands.
  • The Montelli Family plays an instrumental role in charting trade routes that connect Ragunna, as well as Rinascita, to the wider world. As the island opens it maritime routes, the family rises to prominence, amassing great wealth and influence. They build the Averardo Vault to store their wealth.
    • Ships laden with their spices and minerals sails across the world, and in return, foreign treasures and wealth flows back to Rinascita.
    • The Montelli Family also takes the lead in introducing and developing Reserved Terminals across Ragunna, securing the Order's approval to develop in secrecy, offering guarantees of safety and hefty tax payment in exchange.
    • Carlotta is adopted by Francesco Montelli and becomes the Montelli Family's Executor.
  • A faction within the Fisalia Family finds the Montelli Family's actions to be a direct affront to Imperator's teachings, and begin opposing them through various means.
    • On one rainy night, the Fisalia Family raids the Montelli headquarters, costing many lives. [8]
    • 10 years after this event, Carlotta finds and executes the man responsible for orchestrating the raid. [9]
  • The Holy Maiden, Fleurdelys, leads Ragunna as the Sentinel's Appointed Resonator. She encourages the festivities of the annual Carnevale.
  • Fenrico attends the Order's seminary as a student.

Rover's Departure[]

Black Shores[]

  • 20 years before LD
    • Rover erases their memories and steps down as the leader of the Black Shores, placing the Tethys System in charge of governing, and passing their duties as the leader on to the Shorekeeper.[10]
    • Camellya erases her memories as well and leaves the Black Shores, hoping to reunite with Rover in the future.[11]

Jinzhou[]

  • 20 years before LD — Jinzhou experiences a NovaFei pandemic. The highly contagious disease primarily affects children under six years old, with severe symptoms including fever, limb pain, and muscle atrophy. [12]
    • The vaccine is distributed in the form of candy pearls. Xiangli Yao, at 7 months old, is the test subject for this vaccine.
    • Rover helps ensure that the vaccine is successfully transported to Jinzhou, defending against Tacet Discord.
  • 10 years before LD — The Riverside Games is won by a 'temporary' team of Midnight Rangers recruits, including Jiyan, who set a record. A large TD outbreak occurs soon after in Desorock Highland, and due to a shortage of troops, the latest recruits are sent in as reinforcements as a last resort. The majority of them die in the battle, and their frequencies continue to fight for the next decade against merging with the TDs. [13]
  • 3 years before LDBattle Beneath the Crescent
    • General Geshu Lin leads the Midnight Rangers in an attack against Ovathrax, the Threnodian of War. However, Ovathrax enhances the effects of the Retroact Rain for the first time, causing immense carnage. [14]
    • After issuing a final order for his soldiers not to retreat, Geshu Lin confronts Ovathrax, injuring it but vanishing in the process. Jiyan leads a retreat with the remaining soldiers.
    • Hsi is appointed as the new Magistrate of Jinzhou by Jué, despite being only a teenager, and takes on the name Jinhsi.
    • Jiyan is chosen as the new General of the Midnight Rangers by Jué.

Rinascita[]

  • 20 years before LD — The second surge of the Dark Tide occurs and is stopped by Fleurdelys.
    • The Order is forced to abandon their seminary, later known as the Seminary of the Forgotten, as the sea of clouds floods it, reducing it to ruins before spreading to Ragunna.
    • A seminary teacher and his student risk their lives in an attempt to retrieve an artifact passed down by the sages, also referred to as a 'relic of the Ancient One'. The student alone is able to retrieve the relic, discovering that it is a sword, but does not manage to escape with it. [15]
    • Fleurdelys supposedly experiences a Second Resonance Awakening and sacrifices herself to seal the calamity. According to Fenrico, she has been deceiving the people, and is actually the Threnodian's Resonator. [16]
  • 20 years before LD — Fenrico becomes Primus in the aftermath of the Dark Tide
    • Following Fleurdelys' departure, Fenrico also takes her place and calls himself the new Enlightened One, claiming to have been granted special authority to cleanse the aftermath of the Dark Tide. It is unprecedented for a Primus to take such a title.
    • The Order immediately restricts the festivities of the Carnevale, publicly stating they are doing so to mourn the Holy Maiden.
    • The practice of the Pilgrim's Sail is halted for 10 years. The tax placed on the commoners to fund the tradition is also lifted.
  • 20 years before LD — A group of artists and researchers unexpectedly uncover a hidden piece of the Order's history, and are hunted down in the name of preserving stability. Taking pity on them, the Montelli family rescues them by offering to lock them inside the Averardo Vault. They voluntarily choose this imprisonment, hoping that they can one day return.[17]
    • Within the next 20 years, all of the prisoners die, though their Reverberations remain in vault.
  • ~20 years before LDLorelei is molded by the Sentinel and commanded to restrain the clouds and prevent the Remnant Energy within from dissipating. Performing this duty, she resides in the Nimbus Sanctum.
  • ~20 years before LD — Out of kindness, the Marino family helps the Order Orphanage survive the worst of the Dark Tide.
    • Later on, their ship is attacked by Tacet Discord while on route to New Federation, and they do not survive. Their assets are liquified to offset the costs of sunken cargo, and their child, Phoebe is sent to live at the Order Orphanage. [18]
  • <20 years before LD — A group of explorers recover an Acolyte's body from the Seminary of the Forgotten, as well as the relic, but any records on it have been lost to the Dark Tide. Upon inspection, the sword appears to have been crafted for Carnevale rituals rather than for combat.
  • 10 Years before LD — The last annual Carnevale is brought to ruin as a monstrous sea beast, rogue Echoes, and Tacet Discords sweep through the festival.
    • The Primus calls this a divine punishment, and the Carnevale is banned for the next 10 years.
    • This festival marks the last record of the Sentinel.
  • ~10 years before LD — Following the Carnevale, Fenrico orders the reinstatement of the tradition of the Pilgrim's Sail, now as an act of punishment for violators of doctrine rather than one of faith.
    • Although initially reserved for acts of blasphemy, it eventually includes even members of the Order who openly question Fenrico's decrees.
    • The common people call this the 'Fool's Sails', ships filled with people who committed foolish acts. By extension, those who are sent aboard the Pilgrims Sails are also called 'Fools'.
    • The Dragon of Dirge is taken control of by the Order, intending for it to kill those sent on the Pilgrim's Sail. To conceal the dragon's existence, the Order forbids any entry onto Penitent's End.
    • Brant survives the Pilgrim's Sail as a child for questioning the Sentinel's statue. He goes on to form the Troupe of Fools, building Fool's Elysium with other survivors.
    • Roccia is sent on the Pilgrim's Sail for performing a banned play. She is saved by Pero and taken in by the Troupe of Fools. [19]
